This restaurant came recommended to me from a friend who I will now always trust for future recommendations. Not only was the service outstanding, always being met with a grin, but the food was equally fantastic. Definitely order the whipped prosciutto and ricotta appetizer! Definitely recommend sitting outside at night if the weather allows, the ambiance outside was very nicely lit and decorated with fairy lights above you.

After several months of being in Hickory, I have finally found my favorite restaurant. Boca hits the mark! Everything about this place is top notch. First of all, they have very convenient, ample parking that makes the location feel off the beaten path, even though it isn't. The lovely brick exterior gives a nice classy feel. They have a delightful outdoor patio area that I would love to try if I am in the area when it is warmer. Making a reservation is a snap through the Yelp app. I highly recommend it because Boca is fine dining and you want to be sure you have a place reserved because you do not want to miss this experience. The staff are so friendly and make the experience even better. I was seated at a cozy booth. The restaurant is very intimate and sleekly decorated. I loved the ambience. The menu offers a lovely cocktail selection and a healthy wine list with very affordable and sought-after wines. The food menu offers a variety of tapas and entrees. I was alone so I went small but tried the goat cheese and roasted beet arugula salad which was absolute perfection. After the salad I tried the beef kabab. It was excellent. It comes with mashed potatoes and asparagus but the real win is the spicy chili sauce on the side of the plate. Dipping me delectable medium rare steak bites in that sauce was the highlight of the meal. Everything about this place was fantastic and I'm already planning my next visit!

@bocahickory A snazzy Spanish-Moroccan style restaurant serving up decadent dishes in Hickory, N.C. Food: Chicken paella and Moroccan beef kebab over mashed potatoes and asparagus. 10/10 - no critique. Spiced and flavorful. For those of you that don't know, paella is a Spanish rice and vegetable dish cooked in a pan to form a crisp edge. You definitely want to try it out! The tenderloin was exceptionally cooked. Service: Food came quick, staff was relatively friendly. Ambiance: Nice, dim, decorated in an up scale, moody fashion. Classy and mature. Perfect for a nice date night. Location: Hickory. Away from the bustle of the main part of town, Boca is located in an industrial area with plenty of parking. Rating: 9.6/10 #foodreview #foodie #food #hickorync

We loved the ambiance and feel of the restaurant. We had a great table. The menu had many options, and we decided to split most items. I didn't get photos of everything. Some things were awesome, while others were just ok. Let's start with the yummy... The Fig and Prosciutto Pizza was really delicious, but we think it's misnamed since there was virtually no prosciutto on the pizza. The Naan was delicious, but I wasn't a fan of their hummus. It's runny and didn't have a lot of flavor. The tiramisu was fair as was the wilted Caesar salad. The Classic Paella had very little seafood in it, and I didn't think it tasted like authentic paella. My cocktail was just ok. Our friend had a steak and loved it. We enjoyed sharing the food and visiting with our friends. Service was adequate, but we were disappointed overall in food that wasn't great. The location and ambiance are fantastic, but pay over $240 after tip for four people, we just expected a better culinary experience.

Nice ambiance, service was good and the food was yummy. Definitely looking forward to trying other things on the menu. I got the chicken paella and if it wasn't as spicy as it was I would've really loved it.

We really wanted to like this place, but for the cost I just don't know. I'll start with the drinks. They were fine, not the best not the worst. Overly sweet for my taste and they were apparently out of black cherries... Service was great. No complaints there. The decor and ambience is also very nice. Unfortunately we now have to come to the food. We love a good paella even though it's hard to find even in Spain. Let me start buy saying their paella sucks. 2 clams, 2 shrimp and just extremely over peppered rice. The preparation was honestly ok, but it was pure black pepper nothing else. No saffron no other spices could come through the bucket of black pepper. I find it hard to imagine anyone tasted this before it came out. I actually like black pepper, but I don't want a paella that tastes like nothing but black pepper. We also had the grilled cesar salad. It wasn't bad, but it was not cesar dressing. It was very sweet. Not what you expect when ordering a cesar salad. It was a decent, none cesar, salad. Also had the olives. Good as olives come, would have liked more variety of olives or seasoning, roasting, something to make it stand out. Again not bad not the best. Lastly we had the grilled sausage plate. First issue is none are labeled as far as what is duck, buffalo etc. also did lot come with sauerkraut as it said on the menu. That being said they were tasty sausages, not sure if they are worth the price but they were not bad. Overall the biggest disappointment was the paella. The other items we had were ok, but ultimately the meal was not worth the over $100 price tag before tip. They have the ambiance and service to be a higher end restaurant, but the food is just not there. Better options in Hickory for the price IMO. Not sure if we will be back.

That's me on the ground, the staff took our photo after dinner on the patio.

It was a bit too hot to sit outside on the deck overlooking the lake, but I will definitely make that a priority next time! I would recommend this spot to anyone. I like that they don't make the drinks too sweet I think I was hoping for just a little more punch of lime! Gorgeous presentation on food and drinks. The service was also very strong, we never had to ask for refills on our waters, it was very consistent from multiple waiters. And our food came out super quickly - we were a party of 9 and were there right at 6 and everything was so smooth and quick. One quick note- the restaurant knew we were celebrating a birthday because it was part of the reservation, but there wasn't anything special done like a complimentary dessert or them even saying "happy birthday!" This obviously isn't a huge deal but I think it's best practice that if you ask the guests if you're celebrating anything special you then... I don't know, provide a little something?? Overall, the atmosphere was lovely, the waitress was friendly and the food was good. Was it the most amazing Cuban food we've had? Absolutely not. The pork appetizer, Masitas de Cerdo, we had was the highlight. It was delicious. We were hoping it was a sign of good things to come. Unfortunately, the Vaca Frita my husband had he didn't like at all. There was a flavor to it that was almost like Cuban mixed with barbecue. I had the Mojito Chicken and it was good. Not amazing, but good flavor. My husband had some of my chicken because he thought the Vaca Frita was inedible. Now, I don't think it was that bad. However, his mom is Cuban so we have authentic Cuban food regularly, and none of these dishes tasted authentic. Expectations are everything, and had this been Cuban-Something fusion, maybe the outcome would be different. Having been to many excellent Cuban restaurants at home and while traveling, this one just didn't rank near the top. But the people next to us, with their bacon-wrapped dates and ceviche, loved this place, so maybe it was just us

Visited: Friday, June 13th, 2025…read more We decided to check this place out, and overall, it was a solid experience with a lot of potential! Here's the full scoop Ambiance: There's a nice amount of outdoor seating with a chill vibe. Inside, the space is cozy and clean--nothing fancy, but definitely inviting. I loved that the buffet is behind glass and served by staff --much more hygienic than your typical buffet setup. Pricing: Shoutout to them for offering a senior buffet price of $9.99, compared to the regular $16.99. That's super appreciated when you're dining out with parents or older relatives . Drinks: We ordered jugo de maracuyá (passionfruit juice). The flavor was there, but the pulp kept floating to the top, so the texture was a little odd. Still refreshing though! Food Experience: My mom started with the buffet and felt the food was lukewarm--not cold, but definitely not hot either . No heat lamps or lids on the trays might be the reason. Thankfully, the manager, Jesús, was amazing and open to feedback. He told us the place is under new ownership (just a few months in), so I'm hopeful improvements are coming. My husband also had the buffet and really enjoyed the rice and beans --well-seasoned and cooked perfectly. I ordered the Mar y Tierra mofongo platter , which came with: Garlic shrimp, Steak, Arroz con gandules, Fresh salad, And oddly... beans, even though the rice already had pigeon peas? The mofongo was great, and the salad was fresh and crisp. The steak and garlic sauce were both flavorful but unfortunately super salty--I couldn't finish it. The dish itself could definitely feed two people though! Dessert Letdown: I asked for tres leches cake, and I'm so glad I've learned to smell it before digging in. The milk had definitely gone bad . It's tricky with that kind of dessert since it spoils quickly if not stored right, since it consists of three different milks. Service: Top-notch. Jesús (manager) was kind, professional, and genuinely cared about our experience. Cris, our waitress, was sweet and attentive--she kept our table spotless and always checked if we needed refills or anything else. 10/10 for service --- Final Verdict: Great service Clean and comfortable setting Good flavors (but watch the salt) Affordable for seniors Just needs better temperature control and fresher desserts Would I come back? Yes. Especially to see how it improves over time with the new owners.

And because it specializes in Tapas and shareable dishes, it's also a great spot to meet up with friends. But whoever you visit with, you'll leave with a new appreciation for Spanish cuisine and a strong desire to book your next dinner reservation as soon as possible. On a recent visit with friends, we started by ordering a wonderful selection of small plates to share: the savory Croquetas, the mouthwatering Empanadas, the Fried Calamari, and the Vieras a la Parmesana, a delicious dish of baked scallops. For my entree, I ordered a dish of the Seafood Paella, which was solid, but a bit underwhelming. The meal was paired with a wonderful bottle of Spanish Red, and a relatively decent Old Fashioned. We enjoyed Miro and will definitely plan another visit, but were honestly disappointed with the service. Our waiter wasn't exactly rude, but he was definitely impatient with our group as we tried to decide between the relatively unfamiliar selection of small plates and entrees. It won't stop us from coming back, but we might spend a little more time reviewing the menu online before arriving.

I have been here a bunch but it's been a while and I decided the restaurant week deal was too good to pass up. The value for money is probably the best out of all restaurants participating. Everything we had to eat was phenomenal (meat and cheese, patatas bravas, croquettes, flank steak, cheesecake). Mainly writing this review because of the service - I joked with the sommelier (?) that you'd never know this is technically a "chain" because the experience is so intimate and feels local. Our hostess (so sorry can't remember her name) checked us in and let us grab a drink at the bar as we were early to our reservation. When my boyfriend went over to ask about the potential for getting a booth, because we're both very tall, she remembered his name and made it happen. Our server, Nick, was the best. So attentive without being too much, and timed each course perfectly so we weren't overwhelmed with food nor waiting around for the next dishes. Our sommelier (I think that's what it is) was also a delight to have around. The manager came over when we first got seated to give us water for the table, and I really appreciated seeing that as opposed to someone overseeing in the background. We both enjoyed, enough to get a second round (I opted for a full glass of the sparkling wine from the first flight). For tapas, we shared the meatballs, salmon, and broccolini. The first plate came out very quickly, less than 5 minutes, and was piping hot. They were delicious and there was plenty of sauce leftover for dipping bread. The broccolini and salmon were done perfectly as well. Everything was super flavorful and it was just the right amount of food for us.
