My husband and I came in last night for dinner. It was amazing. We ordered 7 different tapas! It was too hard to choose one or two. He loved the bruchetta and I was obsessed with the brussel sprouts. Also a hit were the shrimp tacos and chicken tagine. We didn't like the macaroni and cheese at all. It was bland and largely untouched. We also felt lukewarm about the Mediterranean sliders, which were a bit dry and needed more of the sauce. That was ok with us though! Service was great and prompt. We will definitely be back soon. When in Hickory NC, I highly recommend. The room has a very industrial feel to it but an overall warm atmosphere. The outside is shaping up very nicely they're putting in a big outside fireplace with outside seating. There menu has small portions as well as larger fare. What a delight! We enjoyed our tapas dinner this evening. The Piquillos were delicious as were the Blistered Green Beans, Morrocan Sliders, Mexican Street Corn and Brussel Sprouts. The service was cordial, prompt and comfortable...we were not rushed! Our only regret is that we are in town for one night and will not be able to eat here again tomorrow! The menu is loaded with so many wonderful dishes...wish we could have more! read more

Not sure how this experience could have been any better... Wife and I made a meal of tapas, 6 total... naan, eggplant roulade, piquillo peppers, Moroccan calamari, anchors, smoked salmon devil eggs. All were wonderful along with 4 glasses of wine. Jimmy was our server and could not have had a better experience... timing, suggestion, and attitude were top notch! Great restaurant and very close to home. I've been twice and haven't had a bad meal yet. The lamb shank I had was down right awesome - per the suggestion of the waiter. Staff is knowledgeable and to the point. Tapas and charcuterie, with a little wine, always works for me. I was with good friends and family, so the atmosphere worked out rather nicely. This is my second time visiting Boca. The first time my hubby and I sat at the bar- he is a Coors light and potatoes guy and felt overwhelmed with a beer menu. The bartender swiftly suggested a Long Island tea and put on the hockey game. Hubby is now asking to go back- he loved the Sirloin skewers served on a spoonful of quinoa. Although it was small, the sirloin was tender and tasty. He followed up with the yummy mac and cheese and ordered the beignets for dessert. Warning - they do not look like the New Orleans beignets but they are tasty balls of dough served with a vanilla creme dip. The second time was with a group of seven women. The skilled waiter gave us individual checks and personally took our cash/credit card on his iPad. It is a flawless and stress free way of paying the bill. The best dishes were the lightly breaded eggplant with honey drizzle (4 slices) and a curry vegetable fry specially made for a vegan at our table. Typically I dislike yellow curry but this was the spicy Asian curry and was terrific. We ordered the naan and for a small fee , added all 3 of the sauces- hummus, tzatziki and baba ganoush. They were tasty but looked similar, I would add parsley or diced cucumber on top to differentiate. The lemon tarts were a good dessert but the beignets were a better choice as there were none of those left on the table. Be warned the place is pricey (we average 40 per person) but the atmosphere is perfect- a quiet but lively restaurant with various seating arrangements. read more

Great place. It's a hip, urban feel (modern design in a renovated mill building), comfortable, intimate, great bar area. The menu is mainly tapas / small plates, but there are several "large plate" meals, so this can accommodate groups with a variety of preferences. I wanted to order one of everything (including the large plates). What we had was great. We will be back for more. read more

I lived in the area a few years ago and came every weekend. The ambiance is wonderful and the attention to detail cannot be overlooked! I don't get to visit as often as I like but I will drive an hour just to enjoy the food and atmosphere. read more

Potentially a fun spot. Food however is very indifferent. We had the white bean and sausage dish. The sausage was undercooked, yes, on the raw side. The beans were undercooked. The grouper entrée expensive measly and the sides were drenched in oils. The wine I ordered for $68 it was not available. So they brought me a substitute per my request. Not in the same family and $86. The waitress harried, not available and surly. We had a reservation for several days yet somehow they had to bring us past the empty tables in the center of the restaurant to sit at the very last table in the corner where it was severely under air-conditioned. One of my friends recommended this place and made reservations for dinner for four of us. Set in an old mill building, I did not expect much from it, but as soon as I entered I knew this place had something special to offer. The atmosphere was exquisite, the food out of this world. Very disappointing to drive 60 miles for this. Saw the great reviews and had high expectations. The lump crabmeat was bland and boring and not well presented. Did not finish. Shrimp tacos also not great. Did not finish. My dining partner's paella was burned on the bottom and the rice was gluey. Men's bathroom dirty, and service mediocre. No manager in sight on a Friday night. It's too bad, because the elements of a good restaurant seem to be here. Will not be returning. read more

We had a dinner appointment here and I have to say it was excellent. The service and attention to detail rival any restaurant in any large city. The server was first class, Ariel. The balance of attention whilst not wanting to intrude was first class. We chose several appetizers and followed this with Lamb Shanks, Duck and Salmon. Giving this 2 stars for atmosphere alone- otherwise I would give it 0. We sat on the patio which was really nice! We had the Greek salad to start which was good- cucumbers, red onion, and tomatoes with seasoning, olive oil, and vinegar. The mac and cheese was average at best, nothing unique about it. The sliders were WAY overdone and dry. Salmon was extremely salty (and I rarely think food is too salty!) and the rice and zucchini that came with it had absolutely no seasoning. Our waiter didn't tell us his name, which we think is a basic courtesy at any restaurant. Probably won't come back. read more

Had a fabulous business/pleasure dinner outdoors last night! The outdoor seating is a special beautiful experience. Jose was our waiter, and he is spectacular! The food, service, and atmosphere is absolutely a 10! If you are looking for a special cocktail, I recommend the Gimlet! A very refreshing drink! We yelped our way here from Shelby. This place is a gem. We went for lunch and can't wait to go back for dinner. The atmosphere and decor are well appointed. The owner is creating a new outdoor seating area which will open soon. Sharika was our server and Dash is a manager. We found them friendly, attentive and knowledgeable of the restaurants history and menu items. We loved that one of our meals was served in a traditional moroccan tanginess which the owners brought back from traveling. Some of the recipes are the owners' mothers which adds a nice touch to the quality and care of the food and it's preparation. read more
