Our roof wasn't even that old, so I didn't think I'd notice much of a difference in the appearance, but it was like night and day! They painted all the old exhaust / plumbing vent pipes to blend in with the color of the shingles and the new attic vents blend in so well you hardly notice them. The job took 4-days, really 3.5-days with the first 0.5 being a crew who peeled off the old shakes the first day and some supply delivery. 2nd was delivering more supplies, checking for dry rot, replacing as needed, and starting the plywood, and waterproofing. 3rd was shingling and gutters (separate crews), 4th finishing everything up including painting the vents to match with the new roof. Their bid was not the cheapest nor the most expensive bid we received, but ultimately it was fair and we do not regret our choice. If you have an older roof, I would budget an added 20%-30% on top of the initial bid price to leave room for any deck repairs and additional tile replacements that maybe needed.
