Randomly found this spot while driving through town on a Saturday night. From the outside it looks like a little 50's Diner but inside it was much bigger. We sat in the bar area it was up north divey in the best way. We ordered a cod and a chicken finger basket. The cod was lighted coated and tasty with tartar sauce. I subbed steak fries for their thin fries.. having tried both at our table, get the thin fries. Plenty of drink options, mixed drinks were stiff. After a long day exploring outside we needed coffee and opted for their Spanish style "awesome coffee". LOVE BOBS PLACE! Long time Alanson staple. The staff has always been very friendly and welcoming. We always walk away stuffed! The food is amazing. The prime rib was excellent as well as the nachos (huge) firesticks (delicious) and the wings are always a hit with my family. My arm was twisted to get the homemade carrot cake which was great! This little cozy place is very cute good for families or date nite or if ya wanna quick bite to eat and a cocktail or a beer ..the food is amazing I love the honey chicken and massed potatoes with chives and gravy the cod fish is amazing as well I highly recommend trying bobs place for all it has to offer very clean and cozy and has two sections bar area and a restaurant area .the service is good too.....if your in town I highly recommended this place it's def a gem and the food is sooo awesome read more

UPDATE: Changed from a 5-star to 1-star review. Not sure what changed here, but it changed fast. Maybe the season started getting busy and they just couldn't keep up. I called to place a take-out order dinner order early in the evening and have never been treated so rudely while ordering food - even in the drive-thru. The call was so unpleasant that *I* ended up apologizing and then hanging up on the waitress on the phone because I was so clearly inconveniencing her. read more

That being said... this was exactly what we were looking for this evening for dinner. A very clean, burger/ bar place that also has a nice variety of home style ( spaghetti , lasagna, baked fish, prime rib, soups, etc). meals . We had terrific service by "Tammy". Hubby liked the prime rib and baked potato. But, said it could of been hotter and the potato cooked a minute longer. I had their lasagna and mixed veggies . It could have been hotter, also . It arrived with the appearance of deep fried. Maybe it was griddled--it was not grilled. Greasy and breaded as deep fried. The French onion soup and baked potato side was my meal. I left the rest. This place is awful. Two of us paid $54 on crap food and snide, unappreciative service. No one thanked us or asked us to come back or wished us a good night--nothin. If I could give them zero stars I would! This was our second visit this year and the first time I ever even CONTEMPLATED not tipping the waitress (we did anyway). Our first visit was not exemplary; the food was meh, the service was meh, and the prices were woah! We tend to eat out fairly often so we understand the ups and downs restaurants have and the long waits and even the so so service. Our second time visiting Bobs was the WORST experience we've ever had at ANY restaurant! We weren't thrilled about the first dinner visit so we hadn't planned on going back. However, they were offering a special Labor Day breakfast buffet for $12.50 so we thought we'd give it another shot. We walked in expecting to see a sign instructing is to "wait to be seated" or to "seat ourselves". Since we didn't see either, we waited a bit hoping one of the many waitresses we saw would tell us what they'd like us to do. They were not too busy at this point so after a few minutes we decided to seat ourselves, walking past a few servers and sitting next to other patrons being waited on. We overheard one of the servers explains to another table that if they were here for the buffet, they could grab their food anytime and that there were several juices near it as well. We waited to be instructed the same way but after several minutes without any type of acknowledgement and watching waitresses come and go, we decided to pray and then go grab our food and maybe someone would come over after. While surveying the buffet room, I saw coffee but no other beverages. There were scrambled eggs (rubbery and wet), extremely thin pancakes and even thinner French toast, yogurt, fruit, bacon (very undercooked), sausage(actually quite good), toast/bagels, and a few danishes/rolls (very dry and tasteless). Not the most amazing buffet but for $12.00 we weren't going to complain. Neither of us had beverages or had been acknowledged still. My husband has finished his first plate and I was about halfway done when I finally decided to flag someone down as we were pretty thirsty at this point. Meanwhile I'm staring at a sign above their window that says "We have great service". I finally get someone's attention and say "I'm sorry, I'm not sure who our waitress is, but could we maybe get a couple of waters?". She obliged and took my husbands dirty plate but still barely said two words to us. We had both gone back for seconds since we were starving and wanted to get our moneys worth. My first dirty plate still sat at the edge of our table and our waters were almost empty by the time we were almost finished with round two. I talked to my husband about not leaving a tip (I would never even leave less than 20% even for a bad waitress) If no one acknowledged us before we were done because at this point no one had really waited on us. (Who would get the tip?!) I know my husband is getting thirsty again and my water is almost empty so I start looking around the restaurant hoping to catch one of the severs eyes to get a refill. (The room was only half full and there were five or six servers around.) Finally, I see the same server that got us the waters in the beginning and lock eyes with her and begrudgingly, she comes over to our table. I asked her for a refill and she brought them back and left our dirty plates. We decided we would at least leave $2 since she at least gave us some water and were ready to leave. We had not received a bill or anything else and by this time we were fairly frustrated and wanted to leave. We went to the bar to find someone to pay and explained to a waitress who was chatting with the bartender that we wanted to pay our bill but since we never had a waitress, we never got a bill. Expecting an apology or some kind of empathy for our poor service, she said "Oh, well it's $24." We didn't get a receipt and she never printed a bill so for all we know, she pocketed the money and never rang it up. I thought about speaking to a manager but since we had already had two bad experiences and nobody there seemed to really care about anything, we figured they probably wouldn't do anything about it and it would just be lip service. All in all, if you go there, I hope you have a way better experience than we did and otherwise, I'd recommend you find another restaurant! We will never go back. read more
