Went here with a group of 12 people yesterday on our way back from the beach. Service was good and the food was mostly decent but we realized this morning we were incorrectly charged for a few items so I called to discuss and was told I needed to come back to the restaurant to get a refund. Despite explaining we live hours away and would not be coming back they claimed they could not issue a refund via credit card. That service is really unacceptable and seems like a lie as there is no way they can't issue a refund via credit card. But in general this place is overpriced and I would recommend you save your money by going elsewhere. The bill had lots of random fees on it including a 1% Dare Co Food tax and a 4% environmental fee which we were not charged at other restaurants in the area. Several items do not have prices on the menu - mainly the drinks and I feel that we were scammed into paying $6.99+ for a glass of orange juice that we would have otherwise not ordered had we known. (And a warning - a cup of coffee is $2.99 and but an iced coffee is $7.99) - would have been nice to know that before the bill arrived. read more

I had high expectations whenI went here for breakfast, and why wouldn't I? It's been voted "best breakfast" from 2012-2018! Now I understand why they didn't get anymore awards after 2018. The only good things I can say about Bob's Grill is that the pancakes were pretty good, and the servers were very friendly. The "famous hash browns" had NO seasoning and was mostly overcooked. The egg also had NO seasoning. The sausages were undercooked. So I had to take my leftovers home to cook & season them, which is a red flag for ANY restaurant! Had such a lovely time here. I can't say enough GREAT things about our server, Helen. She was probably one of the best servers I've had anywhere in my entire life & I've been to plenty of restaurants throughout the country. She was upbeat, funny, helpful, and kind. Warning: The "garbage plate omelet" is a food challenge item on the menu! I did not know this when I ordered it, and was not adequately prepared to tackle this challenge! Ugh. We've been here before with no issues but I was so disappointed this morning. I was happy to get in and get the hell out as the slogan says. The eggs and pancakes were burned. I had to send my daughter's back because "it smelled like s'mores" and she wouldn't eat it. The waitress was irritated and said "what am I supposed to do, carry it in my hands?" And made us clear off her plate so she could take away the burned pancake and had her biscuit, bacon and eggs on our plates. Why couldn't she just bring a new pancake on a plate and leave the burnt one there? The service was slow to start. Took 20 minutes to get drinks. Food came out quick. Coffee refills were plenty. My son liked his biscuit and bacon and hash browns. Took another 20 minutes to get the check. They put the card reader in your face and say "do you want to add a tip on your card?" The server was wonderful and apologized, a couple times, for any delays due to being understaffed. Bottom Line: A very casual restaurant with large portions and reasonable prices. Bob's Grill focuses on breakfast and lunch year-round and I believe they offer dinner during the peak season. My husband and I went for breakfast on a weekend in early October and enjoyed the friendly service, quick kitchen and tasty breakfast. My husband stuck to a classic bacon and eggs dish while I enjoyed an omelet. Both entrees came with toast or a biscuit and grits or hash browns. As if that wasn't enough food we also shared a funky money pancake. I was craving something sweet, as usual, but didn't want a whole breakfast of sweet so in came the pancake which was the star of our meal. Having sampled a little bit of mine and a little bit of my husband's, I'd rush back to Bob's for another one of those pancakes. And I certainly would come back for their eggs, bacon, omelets and buttery rich toast. I can pass on the pasty grits though. With so much food we ended up with leftovers and we enjoyed munching on the pancake the next day, even served cold. The restaurant is very, very casual. The wait staff is friendly. I'm not sure I understand the slogan of "Eat and get the hell out!" but I appreciate that our waitress downplayed that aspect. The food here was amazing. I got the Hangover and has browns. It was just so good! Their potatoes are the best my husband and I have ever had. We travel a lot and never had hash browns like these! My husband got the steak, eggs, grits and a pancake. We ate at 7:30am and it held us all day. Great breakfast! Bob's Grill has a great little seaside town Ambiance and wonderful customer service. The food was amazing too! I ordered the Crab Cake Benedict with an over easy egg and Hollandaise sauce. It was incredible!! My husband ordered an all meat omelette with side of sausage and hash browns. His omelette was full of delicious meat and super moist yumminess! They also serve Mimosas! Highly recommend this wonderful place that all the locals visit for breakfast. Our waitress, Earlene Rose, did a wonderful job and I watched her take great care of her customers. We went to Bob's for breakfast on the last morning of our beach trip. The parking lot was crowded, but we were seated almost immediately. The waitress took orders on a handheld terminal. My wife ordered the Biscuit & Gravy with hash browns and one egg over easy. I got the Bob's Special with 2 hotcakes, 3 eggs over easy, and sausage links. The food came quickly, and was very good. The portions were large. We shared the hash browns and the hotcakes, but were only able to finish half of the hotcakes. I had coffee, and it was great. When we were done, the waitress printed our check on her handheld terminal, and we were able to pay using Apple Pay from my phone. I love technology! We absolutely loved it! The food was amazing. If I had to give one thing that wasn't to our liking was we both had to add a lot of salt to the grits. We're from SC so good grits are a must. Their grits were good but needed salt. Waitress recommended the crab cakes. They sounded delicious but we were looking for a traditional breakfast. My hubby wants to go back and try them. I have happily recommended Bobs to anyone who asked for one of our favorite spots in the OBX, but that ends today. We waited over an hour for food and when we finally got it, the food was cold and simply not good.
