I've loved getting bacon egg and cheese sandwiches forever and they always slap. Perfect stop before a mount beacon hike as well but it can be very busy on weekend mornings. They seem to prefer calling ahead for an order and even with nobody else here this specific morning it took 20 minutes for a couple breakfast sandwiches which is a bit long but we weren't in a rush. They have all kinds of snacks and foods and the staff was pleasant. I bought some snacks before my hike so I didn't try out their food. "Holy Roadkill Batman!" You'd think they serve roadkill here and those expert palettes are picking up on those roadkill flavors while the rest of us are oblivious that we are eating roadkill! I don't know how many times this place has changed ownership but one of the really old reviews about the staff not speaking English (Pakistani) seems to indicate the current owners aren't the same because they were very much white caucasian Americans who spoke perfectly good English. While this isn't a 5 star diner it really is just a "Corner Store" that happens to conveniently sell sandwiches. I like that they have seating where you can eat too. I've ordered breakfast sandwiches here several times prior to early morning hikes and I've never had an issue with the taste. Did my meals taste like Wolfgang Puck made them? Absolutely NOT!! The store is insanely convenient to Beacon Mountain where likely thousands of people visit to hike so this store is going to make business regardless because after you hike this section of mountain that is SO darn steep, feed me roadkill all you want cause after hiking Mt. I just finished 6hrs of hiking while still in fasting mode for the first 4 hours, hmmm, I guess anything would be delicious. Used to be the go to place , new ownership is terrible prices went way up and service went way down. Been coming here for years an sad to say i will no longer be. Get the same thing everytime and half the time they can't get it right. all while charging about 8$ for a bagel. read more

Located right by the start of the Mount Beacon trail. Five stars for convenience and price. Good place to grab a sandwich or drink before starting the trail. Got 2 sandwiches and it was pretty cheap at $7, starting to think the guy charged us wrong.. which would make sense since it seemed the main cashier guy was pretty clueless. They had a big menu with breakfast and lunch options. Usual egg sandwiches or cold cut and hot sandwiches. Was there around 9a and it seemed like the main cashier guy was just clueless about the menu. They had a trail wrap listed and he didn't know if they had it. Huh? They did. The people in the back making food seemed more knowledgeable. It was pretty busy but he didn't know who's order was who's etc. Also pretty funny watching them tell people they were out of stuff as we were waiting for our sandwiches and watching people order. It was only 9am, how are you out of stuff already. Just seemed poorly run and inconsistent. They have a new "dining room" converted from an old storeroom - ( building permits ? we don't need no stinking permits!!) still looks like an old storeroom, but now has tables and "light fixtures"....... Over priced ! Antiquated, not clean ! (warning - they will charge you sales tax and deposit on NON-Taxable items -like milk, iced tea, orange juice,, I think they just dont know they tax laws, or dont care) Barely speak english ! ( or if Pakistanian counts as "english") New owners suck -- used to be a nice place when the Burkes ran it. Now I would not be caught dead in this dump. I love this place! They always mix it up with the daily specials so I don't have to think too much and I've never left hungry or disappointed. They might have changed ownership but Erin is still there so it still feels like the old Bob's to me. As far as the building itself, it's a landmark and has weathered some over the years but who really gives a crap? I come to Yelp to hear about the product not the decor. The food is good, inexpensive and the staff is awesome. Bottom line, this place rocks and if you are heading up the mountain, get the Mt Beacon Trail Wrap. You'll thank me! read more

Do not come here on the weekend, when it's nice out. I ordered a Pastrami, grilled onions and and egg sandwich and took 25 mins. I understand they were busy but everyone is ordering egg sandwiches. If the can't handle the volume they need to get more help. With that being said my sandwich was delicious. They were not skimpy on the meat my onions were grilled to perfection. I will definitely come back, as i would like to try their other sandwiches. However it will be during the week or a rainy day when Mt Beacon is not busy. I wish i could give them a 3.5 stars, but Yelp won't allow me so for now they get 3 and who knows on my next trip they may get bumped up to 4 read more

This place has tremendously gown down hill I'm tge past year, I'm guessing their are new owners. Went in today (for the last time) To get a couple of roast beef hero's. I ask the guy behind the counter if the roast beef was rare. Which is a pretty normal question to ask if you like your roast beef rare I'm thinking. The person behind the counter couldn't answer that question. All he kept saying was they can cook it more if it's too red. At this point I came to realize that this person doesn't have all that much experience working in a deli. So I asked to see the roast beef. He wouldn't show me!? Wtf really? All he was saying is they can cook it more for me...ugh. They use to make the best roast beef in Beacon hands down! Now it's this pre made packaged crap as with most of their food now a days. I do not like the food here. I never have. I cringe when people from my job order from here day after day just because it is convenient. I had a wrap with eggplant, mozzarella, and roasted Bellpepper.It was soggy, bland, and I wanted to vomit. Ever since they change owners the majority of the food has been subpar at best . I made a phone call about 2 days ago at 6PM, a rude employee (male) picked up and said "we are closed" without giving me any time just hung up on me the customer. Called today to inquire about purchasing morning essentials (Bacon, rolls & cheese) when I was told I needed to physically go down and then they would start cutting my (the customers) food I had placed the order for. When I call in I'm calling for a reason I want to be in and out, especially when they close at 6 ... Why so early?? How is this stalwart of Beacon not reviewed yet? Bob's has been around for years, so much so that you can refer to it when giving directions and everyone will know where you mean. I don't think Beacon's construction crews eat anywhere else. For mountain-side city residents, it's a godsend for cooked breakfast and lunch options. The building is nothing to write home about, but you can hang out and nosh, or just order to go like most of the customers. All your deli standards are here - you got your meatball parm, your egg bacon and cheese roll, your ham and swiss on eight-grain, all that. If you're going for a hike, I can recommend the trail wrap (banana, peanut butter, apple, honey), which will keep you fueled up the mountain and back. They have daily sandwich (and, in the winter, soup) specials through the week, and they're open super-early in the morning. And everyone's friendly. Can't ask for more. read more

This place is clean friendly and makes you feel like family I'm addicted to trailwraps you have not experienced Beacon till you had one.its apple peanut butter granola and they usually do banana but I prefer blueberries.They open early ypu can call ahead to order and it's just the best .The trail wrap is so big it can be split in two and when I figured the calories it's about 550 calories per wrap. GREAT PLACE. Great cold cut sandwiches and great breakfast sandwiches. They always cook everything right and get everything right. What I mean by that is that the bacon is always cooked right. The cheese will be even and melted. The sausage patties will be cooked but not burnt. If you say salt, pepper, and mayo. They will actually put all that on there in proper proportion. The Mountain Egg is the awesome breakfast sandwich. Bacon, Ham, Sausage, 2 eggs, Cheese, peppers, onions, and hot sauce. Its EPIC. They have a Mountain Burger too. BOBS IS THE BEST.
