I did get several quotes, but I just had a good feeling about how conscientious and thorough Xavier was about the work that needed to be done in my front and backyard, and other related tasks that should be taken care of. I will definitely use him for future projects.

First off special thanks to the dream Team Melvin, Alejandro, Miguel, Alex for making our home landscaping look 110% beautiful! We were interviewing 5 other landscaping and hardscaping companies and not only did Xavier fit our personalities but he also helped us budget our outdoor project into phases which helps us financially. He even worked with us without a designer (due to our tight budget) but if you need one Xavier suggests Grimes Natural Landscaping. If you're not willing or don't have the time to learn plants and paver layout then hire a designer. Although Xavier has great natural instincts and experience on all landscaping design (I feel he should also incorporate being a designer). The Team is clean, thorough, communicative, careful (with gas pipes, waterlines, etc.), and they are actually certified to do more (previous GC messed up our master bathroom pipes and they fixed it: plumbing). E.g. Xavier touches basis with you on a daily basis and when he says they will get it done a certain day it gets done rain or shine unless it rains too much. I will post photos and videos soon, the rainy days images are not the best.

I got a quote from Richie and one other contractor in Concord for buildable removal, but decided to go with Richie even though his quote came in a little higher. He did a good job answering my questions and I like that he is local. Richie was able to get the permits and start the job ~6 weeks later. Appreciate he was a willing to coordinate around my business trip. Also, the weekend before they were to start we found out one of our neighbors was planning a backyard gathering on Monday. I texted Richie on the weekend and he said no problem, they would start on Tuesday. Once the team showed up to start the job, they were great at communicating what they were planning each day. They had to remove a section of fence and a small greenhouse to gain access. They also decided not to risk damaging our old driveway with the heavy trucks, so fill dirt was dumped in the street and transferred to the backyard with the bobcat. This showed me that they really care and are thoughtful about what they are doing. I was able to go to work each day without worrying about being there to supervise. The team showed up each day as scheduled and after the concrete demo, rebar cutting, ~28 truck loads of dirt dumped in the hole and compacted, the job was completed in ~9 business days as estimated. They did a good job cleaning up and hauling everything away. ~2 weeks later I passed the city inspection and received the signed permit. Thanks again to Richie, Saul and the demo team for providing a stress free pool removal service!

I submitted a request for bids on Yelp and Aldo properly responded. While I was waiting to gather more contact s for bids Aldo reached out to me after 2 to 3 days to see if I was still interested, so I could tell that he had follow through and took his business seriously. Good sign. I was initially hesitant to use him due to the name of the company. I had it in my mind that I needed a landscaper to correct the sink hole, but I was wrong. Upon meeting, Aldo I was impressed with his punctuality and friendliness. He gave us a very fair bid for the amount of work to be done. My wife and I felt that he was the right fit and asked him when he could start. He had his crew began the work within two hours of signing a contract that day. They came in on budget, finished the work in the agreed upon timeline and returned the landscaping to pristine condition. It really is wonderful to see a business who takes their jobs seriously and puts so much attention on the customer and doing a great job. Aldo is the man!

Jose and his crew were absolutely amazing! I was looking for someone to replace our makeshift…read moreend-of-line cleanout with a proper one, and Jose came out on a Saturday to give me an estimate - super fair pricing and great work done quickly on the next Friday. We ended up telling him about our crumbling cast iron main sewer line under our slab foundation, and a belly in the garage that's been causing us problems every year, and Jose offered us the CIPP + robot cutter trenchless solution so that we don't have to dig up every connection in our house, and it was at a fair price. Since they did a great job with the cleanout replacement, we decided to do the whole sewer line CIPP and dig up the belly too. Jose and crew arrived promptly at the scheduled time to start the work. They dug up a trench in the garage and replaced the section of the pipe with the belly on day 1. After the belly was replaced with new pipe, there was still not enough slope for the new section to properly drain, because the two end of the existing pipes were just at the wrong height and simply replacing the belly was not enough. Jose communicated this to us and proposed another solution where they would pipe burst under the current pipe for the section that's too high to my front yard clean out so that the whole section would have proper slope, at no extra charge. Meanwhile the crew in the back were working on the CIPP in parallel. They measured out where the openings were and carefully marked the linings with the measurements. Inserted the linings, cured it, cut it, then used robot cutters to reopen the connections. After everything was done, they patched everything back, and cleaned up the whole place. When they patched the concrete in the garage back, they made sure put in rebar to support that small cut out section of the concrete. We saw the final result together in the camera inspection and the pipe looks great - no more bellies and one nice sewer line with proper slope and smooth lining. I'm so glad I found this company and Jose who I know I can trust to do high quality work and do the right thing when there are unexpected hiccups that arise. Throughout the process, Jose took time to explain to us what will be done and how it will be done so we were never left in the dark. I really appreciated the clear communication. It was a pleasure working with Jose and crew!

Vendors: Artistic Kitchen (Mike Ryan), HomeWise (Janelle), Bedrosians (Jenny), Rubenstein Supply Wise team: The 3 A's: Aaron, Alex and Allen. Israel was our day to day supervisor. Estimated Time: 3.5-4.5 months. Wise met this timeline. Positives: Demo: Quick and efficient. They had the place cleared out in 2 days. Prior to demo, their team helped us move our large pieces of furniture into our storage pod. I consider this above and beyond helpful. Flexible: As they started the prep for electrical and plumbing, we made changes and add-on's. For any unforeseen issues, they were responsive. Media niche: The team built out the area exactly to my husband's design. The owner dropped by to view the project and gave us an idea on how to build out the space for our TV mount. We are happy with the result. Fire place: The stone ledger was installed by Oliver per the design. The final product is gorgeous. Kudos to Oliver! Bathroom: Although small, the demo process was challenging as we have a concrete subfloor. It felt like they were grinding for days to prep for the shower. Once we selected our tile, their installer (Jesus) helped us with the layout and it came out beautifully. Kitchen: The prep work for the cabinet install, plumbing and electrical was completed in a timely manner. Wise's cabinet installer, David guided the team through the install process. David is meticulous and skillful at his craft. Allen: This was my first large remodel project and I wanted to have a designer to help guide me through the process. Allen came out to meet us and learn about our style choices and helped us with the challenging process of picking a lot of materials. He kept a spreadsheet which we could update ourselves. I had inspiration photos and he collaborated with us to bring it all together. Allen's design drawings gave us true picture of the final product. So much so that we ended up changing our bathroom tile because we didn't like how it looked in the drawings. Allen was patient, helpful, responsive and has a keen eye for design. Areas for Improvement: Communication, Attention to detail, Slowing down. These things came up throughout the project and mostly corrected to our satisfaction. I will list a couple of examples: Flooring installation: We were considering having our floor vendor do the installation but the savings in our Wise bid was not that much and Aaron assured us that his team was experienced with installing engineered hardwood. We asked the team to pick the planks with the least blemishes and lay them in the open areas while the others could be installed under the cabinets or closets. I don't know if there was a language barrier during communication but my husband ended closely watching the team and picking out the planks himself. This took a fair amount of his time and shouldn't have. We also noticed in the front entryway that some of the planks squeaked and flexed. We could not accept this because it was in a high traffic area. The solution they came up with was to drill small holes and inject enough glue so that the planks would not flex. We were nervous about this but figured it would be better than tearing up a portion of the floor and reinstall them. Thankfully, it worked and there is only a tiny hole which is not noticeable. The ovens needed to be wired for 240V but was wired to 120V. This was clear in the oven's instruction manual. It was corrected. We purchased very expensive outlets for our kitchen island and requested that they be installed flush to the panels. My husband even sent a PDF with instructions in WhatsApp to be communicated to the team. Either it never made it to the team, or they didn't follow instructions. We couldn't redo them because the damage to the panels was not acceptable to us. A couple of cabinet doors had the wrong size hole drilled for the handles. I did map out each door with specific handle size. They corrected this at no cost to us. I created a final TODO/correction list after final inspection and they completed everything to our satisfaction. Overall I am excited with the final results, especially with my kitchen. The Wise team were cooperative, courteous and professional. See my before/after pics.
