Purchased 2013 Chevy Silverado 2500HD diesel. Price was fair, but had transmission problem at less than 5000 miles and less than 60 days after sale. Local transmission shop diagnosed as faulty pressure switch in transmission and replaced. Total charge was $450 for transmission repair. Brought repair bill to Bob;s Auto in Wilmington to negotiate a goodwill sharing of the repair cost. The staff informed me that "it was against the law in NC to provide any reimbursement for repairs when there is no warranty." Said it would imply a warranty. I asked some other local dealers about this, and they said there was no such law in NC. Most dealers said they would have shared some or all the cost to show goodwill to the customer. In course, of sharing my experience with other dealers, I learned that Bob;s Auto, especially the owners, have a poor reputation in Wilmington. Subsequent to the repair, the truck was involved in a automobile accident where it was rear ended and declared a total loss. I returned to Bob's Auto, with some reservation, to check on another diesel truck that I was interested in purchasing. When i arrived to look at the truck I reminded the owner and his son of my experience with the last purchase. At this point the owner rudely told me that I should not purchase another truck from them. I reminded them that I was a military veteran and found the trucks through the USAA Car Buying service. The owner informed that he didn't care if I complained to USAA because they do not get much business from the car buying service. That's strange as the second location is in Jacksonville, NC, where a large military base is located with many USAA members. I did file a formal complaint with the USAA Car Buying Service strongly suggesting that business no longer be directed to Bob's Auto Sales. The owner of Bob's Auto has no customer relation skills, is disrespectful to military veterans who serviced this country. Further more, the owner's son told me I was not allowed at his dealership. Fine with me, I have made it a point to share my experience with every person I know, meet, and every car dealer I do business with in Wilmington and Jacksonville, NC. Veterans and active duty military-stay away from this dealership. Read all reviews on google -- especially the one star reviews. I provided a one start review through their Website--never was posted. The review service says the dealer has 2 weeks to respond--no response. Fortunately, the total loss due to accident was fault of the other party and I have gap insurance to cover the loss. Found better deals on newer trucks at Chevy dealership and sales people who respect those who served this county in military service. read more
