This cafe lies at the center of a humble roadside inn, and while it didn't appear to me that many people were vacationing during the off-season, there were plenty of people heading in and out of the cafe. The pastry spread had abundant options, and plenty of this place's own chocolate bars were available for sale. I got a Mayan hot chocolate, which I was told was spicy. Hot chocolate is a beverage that not infrequently lets me down, but this one was full-flavored, and both the spice and the sweetness came through. My chocolate chip brownie with cream cheese icing was wildly indulgent. I didn't have a need for any more than that, but if I did, they certainly could have provided something worthwhile. Given the remote location and irregular hours, I would check their website and social media before coming.

As my colleagues and I were working in Beattyville, we were highly recommended Bobcat's. It took a while to find this place, but we found it. Surprisingly, it was also a gas station. We heard the food was really good; they were right. I ordered the cheeseburger with fries and a strawberry milkshake. The food was fantastic. I especially enjoyed the milkshake. The cheeseburger was very delicious. I was satisfied from the moment I had my first bite. The facility was very small, but it was clean. They do have a restroom, which was small but it was enough to do the business. In the eating room, it was smokey because of the grill. The service was very great. The ladies behind the county were very friendly. If we were not satisfied, they were very helpful to get us satisfied. They were able to run the county and the outside window. I highly recommend stopping by and eating here. When you do, make sure you get one of their delicious milkshakes. read more

Bobcat Drive In is an outstanding place. Do not let the smallness of the restaurant deceive you of their quality of food. I had gone in expecting to get a burger sandwich with chips for seven dollars. I realized that was not the case here. I got a grilled chicken sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes, and onions for three dollars. Then you can add sides like a toss salad or chips for about a dollars. In addition, the food was very well done. My grilled chicken sandwich melted in my mouth. I got a dollar peanut butter ice cream for a dollar. This food was delicious I could not get over the price for such good quality food. The place is run by several older ladies who are very friendly. The restaurant is clean. outside of the building may deceive you but this is a place everyone should stop in if you are in the area. read more

Stopped in with a couple of friends during a trip to Beattyville for lunch. At first, it was difficult to find and we had to stop and ask locals several times how to get there. However, once we got there it was a gas station with a diner on the inside that was separate from the gas station itself. There were no menus, just a board listing their items without prices. We came right around the lunch rush and the service was still very quick. The food that I had was very good and the atmosphere was very comfortable. The only issue that I had was that it was very difficult to check the prices of the food as they weren't listed on the menu board, so eating on a budget here is very time-consuming and frustrating. read more

Was a very small gas station/eating area on the side of the road with a really cool looking older building, with a great staff that tried their best to accommodate all of us that stopped there, However, their facilities were out of date and the Gas cards we had from school did not go through and we has some hassles with the pumps. The environment on the inside took you back to how you would expect it to have been in the past. So they had a great environment and I would say that you should go check it out because it is really neat, but not exactly the best place to stop if you are in need of gas. read more

We stopped there to get gas and the gas pumps are so old, you can't see the numbers. They told us they couldn't pre set the pumps even though I knew of someone who ran a gas station with the same type of gas pumps and they could be pre set. We got more gas than what we wanted and when we told them about it, they said it happens all the time. We had to pay extra for gas we didn't want. They are stealing from their customers and they don't care. They need to be forced to update their gas pumps or they need to be shut down. read more

Casual dining - some people were dressed up - I wasn't, but I didn't feel out of place. The Tenderloin meal was recommended, and I'm glad it was. Cooked perfectly. The portion was more than I needed, but I didn't leave hungry. The bill was a bit high, but the experience was great. I'm ok for paying a bit more for this quality. I will probably return when I'm in the area. I recommend this restaurant for an occasional great meal for a very special time. I've experienced many "high-end" restaurants- this one is in a league of its own. It is by far the very best in Kentucky.. There are other great restaurants with great food and nice atmospheres that I enjoy, but this one is special.

The vibe here is more than a little bit "the one place where Mom, Dad, and Grandma treat junior for…read moredinner when they come in for graduation" but while that does tend to suggest a very middle-of-the-road menu, it doesn't have to be damning. They do dutifully offer regional dishes like spoonbread, a hot brown, hoppin' john, and fried chicken, alongside other medium-voter preferences like steak, burgers, and the like. And my quiche was good, Michael's fried chicken sliders were good, and the sides were generally passable. (My home fries did taste like they'd been made well before they landed on my plate, but when there's a large menu and a small crowd, something has to give.) The hotel does make the meal feel a little special, and as of this writing, the hotel had decorated the restaurant with artisan works from Berea College Student Craft that make the whole place seem very cheerful. Prices are also about where they should be. If we're passing through again, this will certainly stay on our short list.
