Door to kitchen, no screen.

Stopped by since it had great reviews. When we pulled-up the door to the kitchen was open without a screen. Even if it is hot in there, they need a screen for food safety.

Mozzarella sticks - yummy and cheesy

I visited here again today. Tried the meatloaf dinner which was good. Serving size was decent. Nothing award winning but a decent meal. Decorations were festive. service was friendly.

I spotted the delicious looking giant smoked pork chop that several people had posted, and against my better judgment I tried this place. The giant tomahawk pork chop is not what I got. My waitress was new and did a very good job, but the other lady she was working with didn't seem to wanna be there. The pork chop is not on the dinner menu, which is odd, but they said I could order it. See the picture below this is what I got. The mashed potatoes may have been drywall spackle with gravy. The grilled veggies were a little light. And this cost me 23 bucks. Waste of time, waste of money. Ton of better options in the area.

Omelette

I'd give Bobby's Barrel 3 stars. Let me start by saying, I absolutely do not recommend going on a Saturday or Sunday here around lunch time. It took 30 minutes just to get seating, and even then it was bar seating only, no table. It took a while to be acknowledged by the staff, but it was probably because it was so busy and they were very understaffed and this is one of a small selection of sit down restaurants in the area. When we were seated, the workers were all friendly and the food came out fairly quickly. The eggs Benedict and the omelette were both pretty good and the price was reasonable. Overall, if you're in Volo and are there a weekday, stop in and try Bobby's Barrel. If you're there on a weekend, avoid at all costs.

Breakfast Pot Pie and Blueberry Pancakes and off the bone Ham
Bryant C.

Went there this morning for Breakfast. Ordered the special Breakfast Pot Pie. Its a Pot pie made with their pizza dough. It's a chicken Pot Pie with Sausage Gravy, Bacon, and Eggs on it. I was out of this world. I just wish it was on their regular menu. I would go there just for that. Since its a special i'm not sure when they will have it again. It's actually large enough for 2 people. There were some tradesmen and they split theirs in half for them. My Wife had blueberry pancakes and off the bone ham, and was also very good!

They were very nice, then padded the bill an extra 25% figuring we won't notice. Stupid move. God someplace else. Food just average.

This is my favorite place in town to get fish. It is unlimited and you can get fish either blackened, breaded, or broiled in garlic.

The environment is very warm, and cozy. All of the staff were well trained despite Johnny's only being open a couple of months. We apted for two appetizers as we couldn't contain ourselves to just one. The Bruschetta had an interesting twist to it, was incredible. The Fried Calamari was cooked to perfection. We are both huge on Fried Calamari and agreed it was probably the best we have ever had. She opted for the Chicken Parmigiana with spaghetti, in which the chicken was cooked so tenderly. I had linguini with mussels in a white sauce, and it was amazing as well. The cream of mushroom soup was also amazing. The restaurant was out of Tiramisu, but we will definitely be back to try it as everything else was out of this world and we can only imagine what that is like! We would highly recommend Johnny's Cafe to anybody and everybody. PS: We cannot wait to hang out on their outside deck during the summer months and enjoy a beautiful meal outside.

At one point we went inside and our Waitress was talking to the other staff . We were waiting on drink refills. If you're lucky enough to secure one of the handful of tables at the front, you'll enjoy a pleasant view of the lake. Everyone else gets more of a rumour that a lake exists somewhere beyond the diners in front of them. The food, meanwhile, achieves something quite unique: there is almost nothing remarkable about it. That's a difficult feat at these prices. The nachos were particularly memorable, although not for the right reasons. For £18, we were served what tasted like bagged tortilla chips that had long since lost any interest in being crisp, topped with a sparse drizzle of electric-yellow cheese. I've genuinely had better chips and salsa at Chili's. At a country fair I'd expect something similar and leave perfectly content. Here, it simply felt painful. Especially for the price. The salad's "raspberry" dressing was an extraordinary shade of fluorescent red, somewhere between 1970s sweet-and-sour sauce and something used to demonstrate acids and alkalis in a school science lesson. Its consistency was equally impressive. It didn't coat the lettuce so much as recoil from it, preferring instead to cling stubbornly to itself in glossy crimson blobs. I was left wondering whether it contained more stabilisers than raspberries. Nearly $400 for seven people is a bold ask for food this ordinary. It takes remarkable confidence to charge premium prices for meals that feel so resolutely average. The staff deserve genuine credit, although service was definitely slow They're doing their best. Unfortunately, they can only serve what's coming out of the kitchen. So not so much their fault. Overall way overpriced and super sub par quality of every single item we ordered.

When we first got there my wife wanted to sit outside and was told they had heaters (as I was dressing for 50's temps), but they didn't have them turned on. So, inside we went and sat at the bar. Stayed for couple of quick drinks. Nothing special about it but our bartender was very nice, personable and attentive. So from that standpoint service was great! Pricing was decent but if you are looking for an old fashioned, don't. It tasted like they splashed it with sprite or something, bathed in crushed ice and Marciano cherry. Very sweet. All of that was passable and went with the style but had to knock them down when I went to the rest room. It was dirty, paper towels on the floor and trash bins overflowing. I get they were busy on a Saturday night, but still. We will be back but hope to have a better review next time. If I recall their food was good, though menu is a little traditional - nothing too exciting for this foodie.

Food came out at 10:10- 40 minutes is way too long. We left at 10:41. Other local breakfast spots, we are usually in and out with 40 minutes on the outside. First, take names. We came in and the greeter said I will remember, but she was also busing tables so when a table opened up another employee had to ask who was next. Seems like employees have multiple jobs but they do not have a rhythm and more importantly they are not working effectively. There also seems to be no sign of management or the owner. As a new business, be present, check in, greet your customers and if you need to be someplace else designate someone on your behalf. People are much more forgiving when they have a face and are personally welcomed. State your issues before someone complains, like the two table near us. Example: "Welcome, we are so happy to have you. I am owner/manager. We are running a little slow in the kitchen we are still in our infancy stage but we hope you enjoy your meal. Please let me know if you need anything." There was nothing special or unique about the food or service that would make me say you have to try the Lakemoor Diner. Good, solid breakfast restaurants are needed in this area so I hope they work out their kinks. With how long the wait was between sitting and being served they needed to have soft music in the background. Not only were other customers visibly frustrated, but we could hear conversations and complaints. It became uncomfortably quiet at times. As we walked out, they had many people waiting and as they looked around they saw a lot of empty tables with dishes. Finished plates sat in front of customers with no one clearing or checking in if everything was ok, but there was a lot of staff walking around seemingly without purpose. I'd give a 1 if they were not brand new, but I'll give a 3 based on the food being served hot and the staff was very nice.

It ended up being a little bit longer..no problem. Sat down and waited about 5/10 minutes before our service came to take our drink order. I ordered a skillet and my friend ordered biscuits and gravy with a side of bacon. While we were waiting for our food I was watching another table across the room from us (party of 6)who was only receiving 2 of their meals at a time. With about 10 minutes in between servings. That is totally unacceptable. It took 1 hour and 15 minutes for our food to be served. It looked good when it arrived. However, there was so much chorizo in my skillet that made it so salty that I could not eat much of it. My English muffin that was an up charge wasn't even toasted. While we were waiting for our check I observed a server drop clean to go containers on the floor, pick them up and deliver them to a table without the customer knowing they were just on the floor. When the server came with our bill (which was on the handheld device she took our order on) she held it up to me to view and asked me if it was correct. Then just stood there holding it waiting for payment. Put me on the spot to pay right then and there without discussing bill with my friend. A lot needs to be fixed there. Will definitely not be coming back. It's sad because it's a small town and not a lot of breakfast options. Will be driving to Mundelein or Lake Zurich instead. I've already had to pop tums.
