For context, it's the first chefs knife that I ever made so she's not sleek with machinery-grade perfection and I had the knife in storage for a while when I was travelling and also moving so there was quite a bit of wear, tear, and rust. Turns out, this is the one-man operation of a college student at the University of Arizona who took up cooking and learning how to sharpen utensils during Covid. Anyway - his name is Nick and besides being such a nice human-being, he was able to get our knives sharpened in one day and even brought them out to my car when I went by to pick them up. As far as his charges go - they seemed extremely reasonable to me but since I've never had any knives sharpened before I don't know how his rates compare to others. Regarding the quality of his work - both my husband and I are very happy with it. All the knives are so much sharper and are cutting things so much easier and better now. Why we hadn't had them sharpened before now - I'm not sure of the reason other than their becoming dull doesn't happen over night. The problem is that after they come you need to finish what they have started and it's not cheap. I had someone come just to clean my grill it's on top of my deck. When I came out to see how it was done there was dirt and grime water that dried all around the deck. So I had to spend time scrubbing the deck to try and get it off. Then I looked inside the grill grates 10 out of 10 clean. The Burners and burner covers looked good as well. The side was all around the sides of the grill were still caked with grime also the storage unit below was covered in dirty water took a long time clean the rest of the grill up. I also have a mainline connection they disconnected and never re attached. Great idea poor execution. Per the response below. I was never contacted. No one has ever offered to give me any sort of refund and or to re-clean the grill or all of the time that it took me to clean my deck and the surrounding areas. This is a classic example of someone writing a quick response, but not actually executing, which is even more poor of a business procedure than just ignoring your bad reviews. I got a great bread knife that I'm really happy with recently. It's just the right weight (not to light) and has a really comfortable grip and an "elegant" length. It makes cutting breads really smooth and easy to cut very thin slices. It is apparently their best bread knife, and at $150, I think the price is right. Despite being on Beacon Hill, I don't feel that their prices are high or unreasonable, but just right. The store is fun to browse through for many other kitchen or cooking supplies or gifts. As a well-stocked mom and pop store it has that quality of surprise at finding something you never thought about. The personnel is also very helpful. I've been there a couple times and they seem to be knowledgeable and willing to help, to explain things and answer questions. They have personal experience with the things they sell.

I was trying to break down a whole chicken and noticed it took a considerable amount of effort to do so. It was time to have a professional take care of my knives. New England Sharpening Inc was a bit difficult to find at first as I turned too soon. Once I found the building, there was hardly any parking! I showed up late but the door was still open so I scurried in and asked the guy behind the desk if he had time for one more knife. He agreed to sharpen my cook's knife and was done in a few minutes. My knife cuts like it was brand new now! Prices were rather reasonable. I paid $3 which is much less than what I was used to paying at my usual spot back in California. In addition to knives, these guys sharpen chain saws, shears, woodworking tools, and a whole bunch of miscellaneous items. I may come back at some point to have my swiss army knives and emergency knives sharpened as well.
