I used Bob's service to replace my alternator 2 years ago and had great service. My alternator is acting up on me again so I contacted Bob, to see if the alternator was under warranty. He spent 15 minutes trying to sell me "better" one that was more expensive but didn't give me an answer as to whether or not mine was under any warranty. He said that it could be the wiring, or a blown fuse. My dad is a mechanic in Texas and asked me to check before I replaced, so I agreed that Bob should come and take a look at the alternator to see whats wrong with it.
When I asked him what he would charge to do this, he became defensive, kept talking over me, and then he went on a diatribe about how dogs are bad, unchristian, dirty, paranoid, sex-driven, and carry the ebola virus. I tried to steer the conversation back to the alternator and see if he could check the warranty for me just to be sure. I just wanted him to verify with the auto parts store. And a replacement of the old warranted part, if possible.
He said "you don't have dogs, do you?" When I stated yes, he continued his rant and asked me if I paid for the dogs. When I said that was none of his business, he then said that people who have dogs are the same and have poor health because of the dogs. He asked me if I had heard of the Bible and if I knew what the Bible said about dogs.
After a second attempt to steer the conversation back to the alternator, he stated that he wouldn't fix my car because my dogs might bark too much, or escape and bite him. I explained that my dogs are kept in an area away from the cars so that wouldn't be an issue.
He proceeded to say that I was probably dishonest because I didn't believe him and wanted him to check on the warranty and because I had dogs. He said "I'm not your dad." At this time I decided to end the conversation and look for another mechanic. Needless to say... I won't be using his services now, or any time in the future. read more
