Stopped by this boba place on our way. Not our first time here. We really like their coffee frappe & lychee drinks. This time we wanted to try something different. They are following all the safety measures. With only one customer allowed to enter a time, they bring your order out to you. The cashier was very patient in explaining their drinks to us. There is an BBQ place & an Indian place on either side of the boba place. Due to only outside sitting allowed in these times, it does get clumsy. They do get your order done very quickly. Our order was done within 6 minutes. We ordered their:- Brown sugar milk tea with boba- It was a decent drink. The boba had a strong flavor of tea coming from it, which was leaving an after taste. I have had better. Lavender milk tea with boba- This drink was suggested to us by the server as their best selling. It was an ok ok drink. The boba was good. Overall the best thing was that none of the drinks were overly sweet, they had good amount of boba & not excessively filled with ice. Minimal natural lighting came through the small glass door and windows while it was predominately electric ceiling lights that covered the rest. There were no TVs nor did I remembered if there was any backgroound music. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL Burbank's Boba Loca treated me just fine with its sweet mango slush and large pile of near-perfect boba balls at the bottom of my cup. I did have any high expectations regarding the service as long as they had a demeanor, got my order right, made a good drink, and sent me on my way quickly. There were plenty of flavors and drink selections you could've poured over, so the combinations were daunting. Unpleasant experience. My husband and I were in the area and were looking for something to snack on. We were walking by and saw this place had bobas but also the famous Korean mozzarella corn dogs. My husband had never had one so we decided to go in to grab on for him to taste. We order a coffee boba and the corn dog as well as a water bottle. About 5 min after I placed the order, it was ready. The guy who did it handed my corn dog to me and I was already not impressed. It looked tiny and def a frozen kind you can find at Costco. Well it Ake a bite and it was frozen inside still. Horrible. I walk over to the counter to tell the guy that it was frozen. He apologized and said he would drop it back in the oil. Which made me concerned bc I already took a bite... I wanted to make sure I would be getting a brand new one. So I ask the lady in the front and he stepped in and said no problem for sure he would give me a new one. I see him open a frozen corn dog and then he comes out to put a timer on and then apologizes. I said it was fine I just want the corn dog. By this time we get the boba. It was good. Time goes on and I get the feeling the corn dog is going to be burnt this time around since the timer went off and the guy was still doing a different order instead. We finish the entire boba drink and still waiting on the tiny corn dog. Finally this guy comes up to me and starts to give me a whole complicated story as to why my order isn't ready. Something about him taking them out of the freezer to defrost but the one he did for me wasn't defrosted or something. I heard the timer go off so my bet is he burned it. Look I get things happen and people are young and learning but this dude had to be at least I. His mid thirties. I don't understand what was so difficult about making the corn dog. At this point I'm beyond frustrated and I asked him to just give me a refund. He's issues my refund and then had to explain to the lady in the front why he was doing so. What an overwhelming menu! I don't think I've ever been to a boba place with more options. I picked the rose milk tea, which I drank all the way to the bottom; I'd ask for it less sweet next time because the flavor was so strong that it bordered on perfumey. The location for this boba place is great! Right on San Fernando so it makes it really convenient to go have dinner at one of the restaurants nearby and then stop here for dessert. The place itself is not huge, but it does have a few tables and seating. They don't have air conditioner, only a fan, so sometimes it can get reallyyyy hot and gross inside! But who would want to sit inside anyways with so much to see in San Fernando? The owner is very nice, I wonder if he ever gets a break because every time we come he is working lol. They have a lot of flavors for the teas and bobas. Some of them are ready made and you can sample them. I favorite ones are Taro, Thai Iced Tea, Tapioca and Honeydew! Grabbed some boba from here after having lunch at the sushi place next door. This place has some tables and chairs to sit on and had a decent size menu ranging from milk teas to smoothies. Decided to go with a coconut milk tea with boba to share with the boyfriend. There was no one at the register, so I waited a bit before hitting the bell on the counter. We didn't have to wait too long for our drink to be done. I really liked how it wasn't too sweet, the boba was real soft, and you can taste the coconut in the drink without overwhelming the original milk tea flavor. read more

Excited to see what they will do with their interior space when the pandemic restrictions are back to normal, but the outdoor seating is nice enough if you're grabbing a tea with a friend or a date. I usually go here on weekends, and the service is fairly quick and friendly. Alongside the huge variety of really good boba, the thing that stands out the most in this place has to be the customer service. I frequent this place all the time and every single time we are treated with this friendly and inviting atmosphere. Aside from the boba, there is also a nice variety of deserts and other little snacks as well. The churro sundae is really good. The store is a small little shop but has plenty of tables and a lot of room. There are a lot of cool doodles on the wall from the customers that also work in the animation studios nearby. I guess you can call it my boba addiction and this place pretty much makes it easier for me to get it. Parking- is street parking or you can also park in the structures. FREE! The actual place is quite small and if the line gets long, it becomes really crowded. They have tables and chairs, but like everyone else has mention it is pretty loud inside so this would not be the prime spot to actually get some homework/studying/work done. They do have a computer, not sure if it's free. They also sell couple of treats, but by the looks of it no one has touched/bought any. The staff has been friendly and also helpful. As far as my boba recommendation. I definitely would try honeydew milk tea. It is pretty sweet. Boba Loca is more representative of the boba scene of the late 90s and early 2000s, artificially flavored drinks, powdered tea, and smoothies. Lots and lots of smoothies. The milk tea drinks really aren't anything to write home about, and these days, the Taiwanese places do it better. The smoothies are okay, and pretty much get the job done if you're looking for a simple smoothie. They're a bit icy, and again, it's really nothing to write home about. The boba has a rather waxy consistency that's somewhat nostalgic but not particularly anything I really crave. With how much the boba scene has evolved within the past ten years or so, Boba Loca is pretty much locked in its time. Especially when you're in LA, and given that there probably aren't many options in Downtown Burbank in particular, you may have to venture elsewhere if you want a more legit boba experience. TIP: If you have to get something, get a smoothie, skip the boba. read more

It was really sub par. - They charge for the use of credit and debit along with a $10 minimum. - if your cup breaks too bad. No replacement, which really bugs me. This place is extremely EXPENSIVE. Plain large jasmine tea with mango and lychee jelly is $5.50 (no boba). The same Boba Loca in Manhattan Beach location charges $4.50 for the exact same drink. I love this tea and it's absolutely delicious if you request for less sugar. But honestly it's once in a while purchase. Unfortunately this is the only boba place in the area. The actual boba was an epic fail. Squishiest and slimiest boba I've had to date. It was so bad I had to throw it out. This place has zero ambiance. There are advertising flyers all over hell and back, the walls need a fresh coat of paint and the seating isn't comfortable. This place needs a serious makeover.
