Do NOT consider this place for Tesla repair. If they say the repair will be done in a month, expect AT LEAST 6. When they quote you or you insurance, expect the figure to change by 30% which they will want fromn you out of pocket and blame on Tesla. If you want to overpay and wait 6 months to a year without hearing a thing from the company these are your guys. Don't be fooled when you go in for a quote they will tell you what you want to hear, it will all change during the months you are waiting and try to get them to communicate with you. read more

Went to get an estimate for a minor repair on a Tesla Model Y, after two other estimates from other shops. CARSTAR employee looked at the door and immediately said she thought i would need the whole door replaced. I informed her that I had several estimates and none said the door needed to be replaced. She commented that because the car is aluminum it can go wrong easily if they try to repair it. Isn't that what they are supposed to be certified to do??? I said I would rather they try fixing the *very shallow* dent first if that is the cheaper option, before ordering a whole new door. She smirked at me rudely and passive aggressively said she'd prepare the estimate. Moments later, she said she'd confirmed with her technician the whole door would need to be replaced. The estimate came to about $5k, which was over $2k above the highest other estimate. Would not trust that this shop is looking out for you, especially if you have a Tesla and if you are wanting to cover the cost out of pocket. read more

These people have had a vehicle that required a simple bumper repair for 5 weeks. The accident was months ago and they had plenty of time to order parts and have paint etc ready, however week after week there is excuse after excuse on why the vehicle isn't ready yet. I spoke to Savanah and was told on Friday 10/20 that the vehicle was finally in detail and would be ready Monday 10/23 around lunch time. We'll, it's Tuesday, 10/24 and the excuses keep coming and when asked about providing a loaner car last Friday I was told that the loaner cars are all out and the waiting list for them is full too. This is what you can expect if you choose this body shop. I can't wait to see what the actual quality of the repair winds up to be. I'll keep you posted but at this rate maybe I'll have an entirely rebuilt brand new vehicle from bumper to bumper, but I won't hold my breath. You should know I explained to them how badly I need the vehicle to keep myself in work and my family fed many times while begging them to please hurry. To no avail. My insurance adjuster has assured me that they were paid already so money isnt the problem. I just tried to call for a status update and only got voice-mail. OF course they can see it's me calling so now I'm getting stonewalled. This is so hard. One more day and maybe week of lost wages for me. No loaner offered and at the end of the day ...a detail and a bumper fix can't be more than a few hours of actual work even with paint drying time. Something is very wrong here. I use to be an insurance agent and would always recommend this body shop and always heard rave reviews. I had a small back end incident and I absolutely regretted taking my car here. The lack of communication and updates was absolutely horrible. I spoke with so called manager Karen who got on the phone with an attitude & was rude & disrespectful. She later stated that she wears too many hats for the company and she is stressed & anxious so this is why she came off as a bitch. I never used that work and were her words. The conversation made there customer service absolutely worse for me. They had my vehicle over five weeks and there was no way my damage took that long to fix. I waited to take my car in since Savannah/front desk told me my emblems were on back order. I didn't want to have to wait but that didn't matter. I could tell when they worked on my vehicle because my vehicle would alert me and it was at most two weeks. My rental vehicle ran out and I told them and they didn't care and finally Katie sent me an update after waiting two weeks. The work looks good so far but my emblems are a bit high and it would be a hassle to let them know. The only reason I gave 3 stars was because Savannah has great customer service skills. I went to car star this morning to get my friends passenger side mirror fixed because it was involved in a hit and run the day before. I was recommended this place by my god family friend who just got his car back from an accident. I didn't make an appointment and got there within a half hour of when they opened. They got me right in, assessed the damage and gabe me an estimate within 10-15 minutes of my arrival. So although my friend eventually decided to not go through with their services to fix the side mirror(because of our limited time in portland), I do have to say they are very quick, polite and honest in their work. I was in two separate incidents that my car had to go tho the bodyshop my insurance had recommended we take it to bob Thomas car star the bodyshop does not finish the job, not removing tape and painting over it and then having white unpainted marks all over my black car not actually removing panels and just throwing bondo on it, not putting nuts and bolts back on parts. These guys are hacks I do not recommend this bodyshop. Slow down car star and do the job right the first time. read more

My husband had an accident this past fall and did significant damage to his car. I understand that it takes time to get parts, schedule lift time, etc. etc when there is a lot of damage (which there was). Plus, I am a patient person. However, this repair shop took 3 freaking months to get the car back to us, and required us to proactively call to get any kind of a status update. Excuses upon excuses were provided, with the biggest issue being that they couldn't get the car set up for engine removal time. Well, the repair was done and immediately after we got the car back, there was a problem with one of the joints. We brought it in, they fixed it, but a few months later, the problem was back. Apparently, the technicians had not tightened down some bolts so the car was making awful noises on the freeway, screeching metal on metal. We took it in again, and they again fixed it. So far, so good, but my husband is losing faith that his car is in safe working condition given the lack of quality control. So fast forward to today; I had a minor fender bender of my own, and yes, I should not have gone back to the shop but it is close to my house. Convenience won. I was heading out of town for 2 weeks and was explicit that I was going to pick up the vehicle on May 27th in the morning. I made an appointment, brought the car in, and was told that there would be no problem in fixing the car before I got back. I called this morning to find out what was going on, and the owner told me that they were working on it. I was furious. They had 2 weeks to do a simple job, and they botched the schedule on that. I am a small business owner and was counting on getting my car back today to run errands and meet a client. The owner, Jeff, apologized and said he got the dates mixed up. The front desk person showed me the paper work and my pick up date was clearly marked on there. I don't know what their problem is, but if you have a car needing work, obviously, this location has a real issue with 1) customer communication and 2) internal scheduling. At only 3500 miles on my brand new Nissan luxury vehicle, there was an accident that involved the front right of my vehicle. I have towing as part of my auto insurance, and because I have such a good automobile insurance provider, I had the BEST tow truck EVER come to get me. He was super clean, with a super clean flat bed trailer, and a cab that was almost as clean as the inside of my vehicle. Truly impressed. I will be trying to locate him to write a review soon also. But, this review is about Bob Thomas CARSTAR Collision on NE Sandy in Portland, Oregon. Specifically, it is about Katie Cisco, who was the Specialist assigned to my vehicle. (And, I think she is also the office manager, but she is a working manger and carries her own load of vehicles as well...) She felt a great deal of compassion for me because she 1) She knows my health history and that I am 'on the clock' when it comes to my time left on this earth and 2) She saw this, my new vehicle only had 3500 miles on it and she felt very committed to finding original Nissan parts for it. This was something I was praying for, but I had no idea if it was reasonable to hope for or not. (My insurance does not carry the endorsement that states all parts have to be made by manufacturer.) 3) I explained and she understood how hard it was for me to make it to my constant trail of doctor, oncologist, cancer treatments, etc., that I make weekly and this truly was the only vehicle I've ever owned where I felt safe, and fully in control of it with a combination of the automatic safety features and it's size, it just turned out to be perfect... in fact my dealership who I've been purchasing from for almost a decade now hand selected this vehicle with my physical restrictions in mind, and they hit it right on the money. So, I had formed a very special bond to this vehicle. Not something I've ever had before. *** The whole point of this is that Katie listened and while I didn't know how everything worked on the back end, she explained the process to me as we went through it. There was substantial damage- but with her excellent skills in hunting down original parts and bargaining with her other suppliers to price match the new parts to after market parts, it was really kind of miraculous that she managed to get nearly ALL Nissan Original parts. There are some clips and seals that were after market, but these are made well made and are not seen, so after receiving the vehicle back, I could not tell a single difference - I was amazed. I took my vehicle to the dealership where they have the best mechanics I've ever worked with as well as body shop repair specialists that have worked in body shops for years and are now master mechanics for Nissan look at all the work and inspect everything. The only thing they could tell is that the pain line was perfect, and that is what gave them any indication anything had ever happened to the vehicle. We are talking about an $8000.00 repair bill. It drives exactly the same. I have zero difference in performance, feeling, not even a slight change to handling or anything at all. After having it back in my possession for several weeks now and enjoying my independence (without driving a rental car) I am extremely happy and I truly believe that Katie went above and beyond (as I'm sure the rest of her team did too!!!!) to ensure the perfect repair. I truly have a vehicle that is back to 'pre-loss' condition. I would like to thank my insurance company too, but will do that in a separate review. Also, being a little cash poor right now, the $1000.00 in deductible I needed to pay was weighing heavy on me. So, there is an option available for some people who have good enough credit to finance the deductible through a bank - the same bank that offers 'care credit cards' for things like co-pays at doctors offices, vet bills, prescriptions - they now have one for vehicle repairs and you can get 6 or 9 months same as cash in some cases. So, that can be really helpful, and it helped me out in this case. Be sure to look into it. I've used this same bank for several other credit cards in the past and they are really nice and friendly to work with. *** So, to sum up the whole experience couldn't have been better. I know Katie went the extra mile, but it's kind of hard for me to think she doesn't try to do this for every client. I definitely trust these guys hands down as the most honest, nicest, definitely the CLEANEST body shop I've ever been in- even the working area's and the best way to describe them is "Excellence in Personal Professionalism". Very happy to write this review and share with others. There are good body shops out there that are not just out to take your money. I've been back about 4 times since then and what really amazes me is the consistency of their service over these years. A few months ago my car was the unfortunate victim of vandalism, leaving dents and scratches in all four door panels.. My insurance company recommended CARSTAR, and I'm very happy I decided to have them complete the work. The repairs required extensive work, including replacement of three of the four doors and a lot of repainting. The estimate for work time was accurate, and they made arranging a rental car very easy. Although my car was in the shop for a few weeks they were great about keeping me updated on the progress. Now that I have had the car back for a couple months I can confidently say they did a great job on all of the repairs and replacements. I was involved in a rear-end car accident about 2 weeks ago so my insurance recommended that I go here to get the repairs done. Everyone I spoke to on the phone was so nice and accommodating to me and so I scheduled my appointment for an estimate. It is kind of far from downtown Portland, where I live, but that's not a big issue for me. When I walked in I was greeted by Monica, who was very helpful and sweet. Jeff checked out my car and spoke with me about the damages and the estimate for the repair. Everything was clear and simple, they also were going to give me a loaner car free of charge for the days my car would be in the shop which was so convenient for me. My car took about 3 days for them to complete, pretty fast considering they were replacing my front bumper and another part on the side. Kids are always in my car and it can get pretty messy inside of my car, so when I took it in it was a mess. When I picked it up however, they washed the outside and cleaned the inside! Vacuumed and everything, which saves me $12 to take it in to a car wash. That's what really impressed me. I highly recommend them and they have great customer service. Thank you! read more
