There was a Bob Evan's next to the Days Inn hotel literally in walking distance, so I decided to walk there for breakfast one day because of the lack of options at the hotel. It is what it is. Bob Evans is a full service restaurant that typically highlights breakfast as the signature meal of the day. Much like IHOP restaurant but in their own way. With that said, I arrived here around 8 AM on a Wednesday morning in November 2025. Discovering that the Days Inn hotel that I was staying at did not have much of breakfast, I decided to walk here to get something more nutritious for the day. The restaurant itself was not busy at all and managed to get a table almost instantaneously. My time here spent was about an hour or so enjoying the fact that I was on vacation and definitely wanted to splurge a little bit. In the end, I managed to order a full-size breakfast with some of extras to keep me full and satisfied for the day. The food was good and definitely cooked like it was homemade and awesome. The service was decently, friendly, fast and awesome as well. It was a nice place to have breakfast on a chilly morning. I was thankful that it was not crowded that morning, even though it was West Virginia. If you ever in the area and would need breakfast, considering coming over here for your breakfast needs. The overall experience here at Bob Evans restaurant here in Princeton, West Virginia was quite good and definitely recommended for anybody and everybody who wants home cook meals at a reasonable cost. I enjoyed staying in the booth and the comfort level was pretty good also. For the most part, though, it was nice to be able to have breakfast here on vacation, even though it was West Virginia. The ambience at the restaurant was quiet and good. No distractions just peace and quiet. The kitchen was buzzing, but it was nice enough to where You don't hear it. The staff here was friendly and they give professional service to where you have it. Definitely is a good place to have breakfast while in Princeton, West Virginia. I enjoyed myself here and hope you are too. The prices were not that bad, honestly. Most breakfast items were under $10 with some items offering around $15. You can make your own omelette or have the premade ones already. They do all day breakfast, but I'm not sure if you can order anything on the menu at any given time. They are known for their breakfast, so I decide to have their breakfast items. The menu is kind of extensive but they feature breakfast over lunch and dinner, but everything is there on the menu for your viewing pleasure. Breakfast is not usually expensive, but you can't go around with Bob Evans. If you're in the area come on down, they'll be glad to have you. This Bob Evans location is located in Princeton, West Virginia. It's physically located at 171 Meadowfield Lane next to the Days Inn hotel they accept major credit cards as well as cash. After the meal, you have to pay upfront versus having the server come to your table to swipe your credit card. Some restaurants are like that. As far as parking goes, they have generous parking for anybody and everybody who wishes to come by personal vehicle. Not sure if the Princeton public transportation system comes through the area or not, but if you decide to use them, make sure that they have roots that come close to the restaurant as much as possible. Ideally a rental car or a vehicle of your own is ideal for a convenience. And if you're out of luck, Uber or Lyft is always there for you. And if you're the lucky ones that are staying in the area hotels, you can walk over and have a nice decent meal here at the Bob Evans. And so, if you're looking for a nice home style breakfast, but don't care to cook, come on by. They'll be glad to have you. I had the farmer's choice breakfast with hash browns. With a side order of oatmeal to keep things moderately healthy. Everything was good and sweet. You can make your breakfast as healthy or unhealthy as you like it to be here at Bob Evans. 5.0 stars for the overall experience, especially the location because it was in walking distance from the Days Inn hotel. Food/Taste/Flavor: 5/5 - ordered the Dinner for 2 with two soups, two entrees, and a shared dessert. We ordered a cup of Cheddar Baked Potato Soup, cup of Chicken-N-Noodle Soup, a Mushroom & Onion Chopped Steak, a Country-Fried Steak, and a Holy Cow Chocolate Cake. Sad part was they didn't pack our soup :( Both of the entrees were great even though both also leaned on the saltier end. The steaks were moist and well cooked. The sides of mashed potatoes were great and extremely creamy with extra country gravy on top. The mac and cheese was mediocre and the corn was very oily. The cake was good but the chocolate drizzle and whipped cream was a bit too sweet for our liking. Definitely need some milk to go with that chocolaty goodness! Had dinner here last night about an hour before the closed. The food was excellent, we had a female server first and then found out she was not really our server, she was helping out the young male server. We later found out the male server was 16 years old, he was pretty good at his job BUT what prevents me from giving this Bob Evan's five stars is that the young male server was drenched in cologne!! Nobody wants to smell that when eating. It was like he showered in cologne, it was an overwhelming smell!! read more

A pretty typical Bob Evans, which nowadays is not a compliment. I don't know what happened, but several years ago their service went downhill. I think they got bought out, but it may have been happening before that. Anyway. Went on Thanksgiving, since they were one of the few places open. Not my first choice, but after trying several other places, I ended up here. Busy but not packed; no line out front. Also no hostess, and when someone finally came she was curt. My server was great after that, but obviously harried, and I noticed lots of other people waiting on things, having issues, etc. I think it's poor management, lack of support for staff, disorganization, that is causing issues, not the servers. I got the wrong item once, and there were many things they were out of. Understandable on a holiday (though at 4pm?) but they should at least say they're out when they take your order. The food was fine. Limited menu, which was fine, basically holiday favorites. I had chicken fried steak instead of turkey, with mashed potatoes and green beans. Wanted cole slaw but they were out; switched to corn. They were also out of pie, but at that point, I was ready to go anyway and passed (thought I'm sure I paid for it.) The steak was pretty good- not tough, nice crust, good gravy. The beans were okay, but there was very little of the advertised ham. The corn and potatoes were fine. Maybe this was a fluke and I should give them another chance. But, the poor management is not a new thing, and has been my experience at other Bob Evans' far and wide. Classic Family dinner ambiance with connections to local farms with FFA posters greeting you while entering. The kids menu has activities and the famous super long bendy straw. Service is quick and friendly. Server didn't write any of our order down and succeeded in getting everything correct which is iconic. We stop at this Bob Evan's on our way to visit family in Pittsburgh. Serve breakfast all day, different drinks and plenty of different food for anyone. I got a sweet cream cold brew to stay awake for the drive. It was good but nothing to rave homeabout. For my meal I got the butter honey chicken plate with broccoli and Mac and cheese. Great sides and the rolls were definitely my favorite. Tasted mostly butter and not enough honey on my chicken. My dad got turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes - always my dads go to order and always delicious. Large portion. Sizes could've taken the other chicken home for leftovers - good prices for what you get. Started cleaning up around 8:10pm so I think they usually close at 8:30 instead of 9:00 seems other reviewers have had that issue before so I submitted an update time for the hours. read more

Cannot get enough help. Was there and waited for over 30 minutes to be seated. There was no one else in the store to be seated. When they were asked, they said they had a party of 13. I guess they had called and made a reservation, but I didn't know they took reservations. We had not been told this. When I spoke to a manager, she wanted to show me that the party had signed in first, and we were next, but was argumentative and would not listen. Stopped in at 6 pm for dinner on a Monday, already out of grilled chicken so I had to order fried chicken. Didn't turn out well, I asked for them to try again and bring me a second piece, no better. The oil must need changing in the deep fryer. I generally have a nice meal at Bob Evans and I will continue to eat at them. Horrible. The last two times we ordered, the food was almost too stale to chew. We ordered two sets of pancakes and got no syrup. The adult meals, on top of being stale, were missing all sides and rolls. We ordered loaded fries and got literally 6 stale fries with cold cheese sprinkled on top. We got all waters instead of the pops we ordered. We ended up giving our $45 meal to the dog. Will never order from here, again, read more

I'm not a fan of Bob Evans. This will be my last Bob Evans visit. I'm less of a fan of McDonald's and probably would have enjoyed it more. The pumpkin bread came to the table crumbled. When I told the server, "great presentation." He said, the bread has been doing that all day and they couldn't figure out why. After a small nibble, it didn't take much to figure out it was missing ingredients. Fresh fruit to me does not include the beginning of mold. I had the sole fish dinner. It tasted more like the sole of a shoe. Typically fish is flaky and doesn't require a knife to cut through an 1/8" thick piece of fish. read more

This Bob Evans is run better than any I have eaten at. The manager is fully involved in every aspect including quality control of the food and checking in the dining room for customers needs. Great job if they were all run this way more restaurants could remain open. I'm sorry to see the decline of Bob Evans over the years. read more

I grew up going to Bob Evens but this is not what I remember. The service was extremely slow and the food was no good. My daughter ordered a pot roast sandwich with a cup of soup. The sandwich was dripping with grease so the bread was soggy and the meat was cold inside. Took almost 30 minutes to get our food. I understand about the wuhan virus but that wasn't the cause. We were on our way back to NC and stayed nearby. Decided to try them out vs Cracker Barrel. The chicken in the chicken sandwich was good, but sandwich looked "smashed"- not appealing. We ordered it with avocado ($), but was missing. Tried 3 sides. Mac & Cheese was ok...little salty. The coleslaw was very runny and the sweet potatoes were not edible. Have enjoyed eating at other Bob Evans locations. We will try somewhere else next time. read more

Our server, Sandra, was terrible. She was waiting on 6 tables but never seemed to be on the floor. She never came to our table, she just seemed like she hated her job. This was absolutely, hands-down the worst Bob Evans dining experience we've ever had. Granted no one - customers, waitstaff or cooks - wanted to be there on Thanksgiving but there we all were. The first sign of trouble was the almost empty parking lot (just down from the overflowing competitor). We stood at the hostess stand for several minutes before being seated in an almost empty dining room at one of the few cleared tables. It took a while before anyone even bothered to get our drink or food orders. The menu was understandably limited: breakfast or turkey/ham plates. When our food arrived more than 45 min later, it had clearly been kept under the heat lamp for far too long. The ham was dried out and curled. The turkey was leather. The green beans were partly shriveled. The corn was cold. The gravy had sat so long, it had developed a "skin" on it. There were few customers, a lot of staff standing around, and a dining room of filthy tables that no one bothered to clear. I was pleasantly surprised on our recent visit to Bob Evans. We went for brunch and it didn't disappoint. They accommodated our large group well and brought food in a timely manner. Everyone seemed content with what they ordered. I was skeptical when I ordered the brunch pot roast with eggs since I'm not a big potato person, but everything was cooked to perfection. It wasn't served on the same dish that it was advertised on, but other than that it came close to what I was expecting. We even bought a peanut butter pie to bring home and it was spectacular! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because service could have been a little faster considering the lobby wasnt very busy. On a cold night there is nothing like their vegetable beef soup. I got a piping hot delicious chicken pot pie. Now remember, if you get a pot pie it will take around 25 minutes to cook. It comes out hot and fresh. If you are in a hurry, go to McDonalds. My wife got a hot delicious pot roast and soup. They also serve banana bread or pumpkin bread. While visiting Thanksgiving 2017 our 6 person group stopped in less than an hour before closing on this holiday night. They still agreed to seat us. We were tired, cranky and didn't want turkey. They were understandably only serving a limited menu. Our waitress Mariah (spelling?) was the sweetest thing ever.... put up with our difficultness and talked management into cooking cheeseburgers and chicken tenders. We arrived and were seated and waited on immediately. We really like eating at this restaurant because they have good food and offer coupons to help save money on each trip. After we ordered, we did have to wait a little while for our food. That was the one negative thing about our visit. When our food did arrive, it was very good and worth the wait. When we pulled in to the parking lot at 7:45am, we wondered if they were even open. Well they were open, and we quickly figured out why nobody was eating there this morning. I asked for and English Muffin with my omelette, and was quickly told that they don't often keep those. That is odd considering I dine here almost every time I visit the Princeton area. The food was incorrectly prepared, and very unimpressive. The bacon was under cooked, and like rubber. The biscuits seemed warm, but like they had been made a good while earlier. I will never waste one more cent in this place. The Franchisee needs to fix this, or this place will soon go under. It almost seemed like only 3 people were working. Once cook, one waitress, and the manager. We were traveling, and still had several hours left on our drive, so we just ate what we could, and left. YUCK! read more

Not a soul to be seen, no one to greet us at the door, we ended up seating ourselves at the bar. At least 3 managers on duty yet not one could care less about us or all the filthy tables. One manager brought us menus but didn't say a word. After 5 minutes our server greeted us after coming in from her smoke break. Was perplexed about all the food in the window waiting to be delivered. The service was okay, a little slow to start, but this isn't fast food, so no complaints really. Our food was cooked to order, not expensive, and my toddler was well-received even at his most hyper. Most of the food is average. The breakfast food is actually above average namely the breakfast bowls. The service is always friendly and responsive. My parents really like taking me and my kids there for lunches and such due to Bob's serving breakfast all day. read more

We just left Applebees due to a dirty table and dirty manager. Bob Evans is an old reliable, right? We walk in, we smell a wet dog, what is that funky smell??? We are seated right away, the place is empty except two old ladies at one table and a manger sucking a chicken bone at the table across from us. We notice the floor immediately. Food everywhere. They have not swept all day. Waitress approaches the table with the usual brown apron.....that is covered with dried food and filth. Nasty. We leave. The people here are very dirty. As with most restaurant experiences, a lot depends on the specific server. I had a great one this time (a shout out to Ashley). I wasn't in a hurry and sat near the front near the kitchen so I lingered a while to observe things. I watched the interaction of the manager with the employees and was struck by the camaraderie created and how helpful everyone there seemed to be to each other. They appeared to enjoy what they were doing and actually smiled much of the time. It made for a very pleasant experience.
