Food was yummy, my grilled chicken salad was huge that I have enough for another meal. Everyone else enjoyed their meals too. Don't forget to get the biscuits with butter and jam. Visited here with my family a week ago. The woman who was our server charged me for 2 drinks after I asked to switch out my Coke (that I barely drank out of) for Sweet Tea, because the Coke was flat. When I brought this to her attention she told us she wouldn't fix it. She also stepped on my mother-in-law's foot right after she had knee replacement surgery, didn't apologize. BUT every other server I have had over the years treated me great, just sucks that she ruined my experience. read more

Country Fried Steak was greatly overcooked. Over the past number of years, I have made an annual trip to the New River Gorge about this time of year to take pictures of the Fall Foliage. That would have been today this year. I left Cornelius NC about 4:15 am and arrived in Princeton about 7:30 am the same and picked Cracker Barrel for Breakfast. Considering the time, the place was somewhat busy but became very busy before I left when the crowd came in. Walked in and was quickly seated and serve was there almost immediately. Service here is excellent. As with most Cracker Barrel's they have a throwback décor to earlier days and this is no exception. The Fireplace which was not burning at the time I was there was beautiful.. No only complaint was the quality of the food. I ordered Grandpa's Country Breakfast customized with the County Style Steak, Hash Brown Casserole and my eggs over well for Breakfast Breakfast was out very quickly. Tried the Hash Brown Casserole first and it was great. Moved to the eggs and they were leathery but that is what you get sometimes when you order over well. The Country Style Steak was overcooked to the point where it was hard and with the consistency of leather. Gravy did little to mitigate the dish. Biscuits were pretty good although dry and crumbly and the sausage gravy, void of any taste. As for the grits, no comments because I don't eat grits. Portion size is good with the exception of the Hash Brown Casserole and it was less than usual from what I have found at other Cracker Barrel's. On check out, the young lady who was ringing me up asked if everything was OK and I told her about the overcooked steak. She asked if I had mentioned anything to my server and I said no but on reflection, I probably should have. She asked if I wanted to talk to the manager and I said no because I was pressed for time and wanted to get into the New River Gorge and catch on camera, dawn at the gorge in autumn. My first ever review. This location has been pretty good in the past, the last 2 visits were horrible. The hash brown casserole was so burned I thought they were meatballs. The fish dinner my son and I received were not only underwhelming, but the portions were very small. I attached photos. I was given 1 hushpuppy the size of a nickel. We bought the family size dumplings, threw most of it out. So I contacted Cracker barrel, they send a free dessert for one card. Thank God we have Campestres and many other locations to choose from. read more

This restaurant is doomed. The service while acceptable, was served with a delectable amount of condescending attitude! And after I wrote that on the back of the receipt as to why she was getting no tip, the manager proceeded to try to steer me down in the parking lot. Stopped in for Saturday breakfast while visiting Princeton. Server was great; friendly and attentive. We tried the Smokehouse breakfast and Cracker Barrel plate. Both were good, somewhat average breakfast fare. Tasty pork chop on smokehouse and juicy sirloin on CB plate. It came with grits, biscuits, and fried apples. All were ok, good but not stellar. Paid a visit to this location on 9/7/2024 with reservations as the last visit was not good. Well, have to say this is the last time I go to this location. I ordered Steak and Shrimp with Green Beans and a loaded Baked Potato, my wife ordered Country Fried Steak with carrots and I don't recall what the other side was. Food took 40 minutes to arrive and when it did it was lukewarm at best, steak was undercooked, etc. Server was very inattentive as we never received any refills on drinks and I could not eat any biscuits provided as I had nothing to wash it down with. As far as ambiance goes the restaurant was very dirty and the hostess had came back to set up another table for a larger party of guests which involved moving tables. She just jerked the table right next to us and the glass dome on the lamps they have at the tables flew off and shattered on the floor right next to us. Thankfully none landed on our table, but some did land on my shoe. There was never an apology for this, in fact she seemed very flippant about it. I frankly worried about small children that were present at the time. All in all there is a lot of issues with this restaurant and I would not recommend anyone going to it. read more

Went here many years ago! Had a great dinner and they waived our dinner fee because the chicken pot pie that my parents ordered was cold. We went again to this location while on vacation in 2015, on our way down to Florida; it was conveniently located within walking distance of our hotel. We were in town for the night on a quick stop and had breakfast here. It was super nostalgic for me and was a first time experience for my 3 boys :) Our server was outstanding. Kind and funny, very helpful with the new menu changes and even joked around with my boys. The food was prompt and tasty and the gift shop area was clean, well kept, and full of goodies. It's a Cracker Barrel. The eptiome of kitschy large scale chain food. The pot pie is quite decent but skimpy on the meat-- only 3 chunks of beef? And one of the biscuits I got looked like a miniature one, what the heck? That said the other sides ordered were excellent, and the staff is very friendly. But anyway. The other knock. This is a global pandemic, yet barely anyone was wearing a mask despite the current health guidance. Maybe 15% of customers were wearing a mask properly. Our meal was delicious. There was no bussing of tables and tables were everywhere that had dishes needing to be picked up. Areas of the floor where dishes apparently has spilled has not been cleaned up. Seemed like the help was just hanging out. Also seemed like they didn't have enough help, which is not unusual nowadays. But, if you are going to be there, do something. Just my two cents. Well, I don't like to give bad reviews being a patron of the Cracker Barrel franchise. I am A firm believer if you don't raise your hand nothing will get better. We have been on the road for a family vacation since 2:30am and the last thing I want to do is chase down our waitress with 4 hungry/cranky kids. The waitress came over and apologized. She brought a plate of biscuits for our trouble. Ok I moved the rating up to 4 stars but, it was all down hill from there. The food took forever ( mind you it wasn't busy at this point) As far as the food I had the old timer with turkey sausage. It was good, but my wife's French toast was ice cold. 90min for breakfast!!! This location can either be hit or miss. Sometimes you go in and have the best service and other times the server is barely attentive. The haddock is what I always get. I grab 2 sides of turnip greens and 1 side of hasbrown casserole. That's only because the casserole is hot or miss. Sometimes it's cooked perfect and other times it burnt up. Marginal service at best, food rough, was sitting g under lamps for a while. My wife likes their chicken and dumplings or I'd never come. This location worse than most. #37-2021 well matching up with Google and recent Yelp reviews my experience was pretty much the same. this cracker barrel located between the hotels right off of Interstate 77 is a fairly large sized one. first impressions aren't too bad they've got a lot more outside chairs where you could sit a spell and a larger parking lot too. walking in it looks like typical cracker barrel Fair you got your classic brick-a-brack and knick knacks and stuff in the general store old timey kind of things crafty things. the can was nice and clean I washed my hands before I sat down. this is where it gets a little compared to other ones kind of bit of a let down. I was seated when I came in they had to clean off the table for me first thing I noticed is unlike other cracker barrels all the tables are filthy until somebody wants to sit down here for some reason there was a lot of staff working too.. haven't heard about it this is the first cracker barrel I seen that actually had beer and wine on the menu limited selection but you can get a cold one and have some old fashioned cooking. I had the truck and I wasn't parking there in the parking lot for the night so I did not I opted for a Coke Zero. I peruse the menu and decided on one of their know if it's a newer one but I never seen maple bacon chicken. which is basically a grilled chicken breast covered in cheddar cheese with bacon on top along with a maple glaze. my two sides were steak fries and corn. the food was really good I enjoyed it I said fairly healthy option compared to other things I may opt not to have the bacon next time and just do the melted cheese on the chicken breasts with the maple glaze but what really surprised me though was how filthy this one kind of was. the floors were nasty and as I said almost every table was not cleaned and they didn't seem to clean them until somebody sat down. the other job back too is they didn't light up the lamps for dinner normally cracker barrels will do that at your table to put the little lights on. with a lot of other things around from Bob Evans to the usual fast food fair I don't know if I would be excited to come back to here or not but I may give it another try sometime but it's not something I would put on my high priority list as far as this cracker barrel goes compared to other ones that I've been to and I've always gotten exceptional service and they're very very clean. average straight three stars across the board read more

The server was so nice! The food was terrible. The carrots were so over cooked they were mush. The chicken broccoli bake was so weird in texture I couldn't eat it. My daughter loved the chicken and dumplings. Water tasted like chemicals. The floor in the store was completely sticky. Great location, service and food. To be transparent, I am a Cracker Barrel Fan and this location did not disappoint. My server, Shane M. was courteous, attentive and knowledgeable in the menu. I ordered coffee, MultiBerry (new) Pancakes with scrambled eggs and bacon ($11.53). My server, Shane even threw in a few of CB's yummy biscuits with Apple Butter (complimentary). That extra effort earned Shane an extra tip today; $3 on a $11.53 bill - not bad. Keep up the great customer service Shane. In summary I would highly recommend this Cracker Barrel location and I plan to return on my next road trip. read more

This is probably the only Cracker Barrel I like anymore. I'm on the road a lot and have found they've all become very inconsistent, but this one has been steady for me. The thing they need to do to become a staple for me is to sweep the floors under the tables between sittings. An absolute mess. Staff sweep the crumbs and trash on the floor so tables are clean but you wouldn't believe looking at the nasty floors if you didn't actually see the tables being wiped. Only takes a minute to sweep under the tables. I HIGHLY recommend the place does this. I'll goin again, but third time in a row being dirty floors will be strike three to me. read more

My first Cracker Barrel experience and likely my last. Food was surprisingly poor. Just this side of having to send it back to see if it could be improved, but with little hope it could be improved. I'm surprised because I thought Cracker Barrel was some kind of bastion of southern-style cooking for the plantation-nostalgic states. Now I completely understand why no one south of the Mason-Dixon line is going to oust Paula Deen, no matter how many times she uses the n-word. They are apparently saving the flourish and the customer service for the store, which is how i would imagine a Disneyland gift shop as designed by Yosemite Sam. I've always disliked Cracker Barrel due to how sick I get after, but this was by far the worst experience I've had at one. I am also a waitress at a very popular and highly rated restaurant so I know what good service and food is and neither were good. My waitress took five minutes to greet us... Seriously?! And then when she took my drink order I asked for a sweet tea and somehow got coke? And when she asked for my order I asked to give us a few minutes and she scoffed and walked away... WOW. Then as she was on her way back around I asked her what the soups were and she proceeded to say "Can you give me a minute?", in a snarky tone and walked away. To at least give CB some type of credit the food was decent. No waiter should ever sass or be as rude to their table as she was. NEVER AGAIN. read more
