    Small pot roast
    Scott M.

Pot roast and mashed potatoes are a hard combination to pass up. Combine them with fresh yeast rolls and you have a comfort food meal that is on my top ten. The pot roast was warm and creamy with its the perfect amount of vegetables to gravy/meat ratio. The mashed potatoes tasted fresh and were also warm. The start of the show (the yeast rolls) topped off my great mid afternoon meal. I also had a small salad that was also tasty. Update: COVID dinning: I had turkey and dressing, carrots and mashed potatoes. Really decent meal. Did see a few guest without masks on and the management not enforcing the state mandated mask policy. Really sad.

I don't think many people could finish this burrito. Absolutely delicious! I travel for a living and eat Mexican probably 2 times per week. The salsa is on point. Needed no hot sauce. Plenty favor and spice. No El Yucateco needed. Service here is very good. Server very attentive. So if you're around Anderson IN definitely check this place out. You wont be disappointed and trust me you will not leave hungry. It seems they have specials which are on the chalkboard as you walk in. I chose the Burrito Al Pastor based on another Yelper's comments. Great choice. If you like anything Al Pastor, this is the place. Prices are reasonable. This place has many draft beer options and Margaritas. ($10 for Pitcher of beer). Well I'm very satisfied with my experience as most Mexican restaurants are mediocre at best. Anderson IN has an epic Mexican eating experience! Well done San Jose!!

It is right on the Main Street in Anderson near all the car dealerships, Michaels, etc. It's in a strip mall, so plenty of parking. I wasn't sure what to expect when I went in because of this, wasn't sure if it would be take out only, or if they would actually have seating but it's an actual restaurant with plenty of seating. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and sat. The staff all stopped by to say hello and very friendly. No sooner than we sat down our server (who was also the person that sat us) obtained our drink order and thanked us for coming in. We ordered pretty quickly and the food came out just as quick. I must say the salsa is 10/10. Tacos, solid, although you can't really go wrong with tacos and fajitas, hard to mess those up. It is a solid taco spot. We ordered taco platter which included 3 tacos, and the fajitas and one drink and the bill came up with tip around $40, so not super cheap but reasonable for the amount of food you get. The reason for my 5 is less about the food and more about the service.

We asked about bread and the waiter said their food was wholesome and will fill you up, but they had bread you could buy. So I bought the bread because the sides were too skimpy to fill us up. We had never tried Carnegie's in Greenfield. However, being solid longtime fans of FOX GARDIN IN FISHERS and FORTVILLE, we were eager to try this venue, now under the Burgess umbrella of fine dining experiences. From chefs to servers to managers, they excel in the minor details that make the difference. In an old CARNEGIE LIBRARY, you enter by going down some steps to the main dining room that reflects a library theme. What you notice first is the friendly and attentive service, beginning with the hostess, to the bartender, the server, the general manager, and even the managing partner, Zach B. That is what we have come to expect from the Fox Gardin and why we traveled to Greenfield. The cocktails carry a book theme. My wife and daughter enjoyed THE BOOKED FOR DEPARTURE. I am a staunch fan of the FOXY OLD FASHION. In my opinion the "very best old fashion " to be found. My daughter chose a soup / salad combo which included amazing French Onion soup and the Chefs Choice salad with their special protein of bacon. They both loved it. I have always trusted the chef special selections at the Burgess family of dining venues. So, I selected the CHEF''S DAILY PASTA selection. Oh my god, one of most and unique and amazing flavors I have ever tasted. This lunch dish was fresh gnocchi in brown butter, sausage and butternut squash. A great big thank you to the chef for creating such an amazing bowl of flavor for a Wednesday lunch. YOU'RE THE BEST. And my ten year old granddaughter said luncheon spaghetti was very very good. She let me taste it and yes, indeed it was outstanding. Ok,Yelpers, I recommend the short trip to Greenfield for an amazing lunch at a very reasonable price while exploring unique flavors. Probably, no reservations for lunch. However, if you are looking for a dinner experience, a reservation is a must. Like any professional eatery, they accept only the number of reservations that will allow for the optimal dining experience. Carnegie's will be a Greenfield dining star for years to come.

I love the small town feel!! The restaurant vibe reflects the town. Everyone is very welcoming. I didn't catch bartenders name, but she was very friendly to everyone at her bar. She told us her favorites on the menu. I appreciated her knowledge about the restaurant and the menu. The bar area seemed a little dark, but that actually enhanced the experience of an old bar. We only sat in the bar area, I believe there is additional seating in another room, but I didn't look. I opted for a grilled tenderloin and a cup of beer cheddar jalapeño cheese soup. The sandwich's are Ala carte. The sandwich was bigger than I expected, that would have been enough for lunch. The trick with grilled tenderloin is that many times it is over cooked, so it is dry. This was cooked to perfection; cooked but still moist. The sandwich, with the "garden" was awesome. Now to the soup. I think she said they use wee Mac as the beer. The jalapeño was puréed. There was crispy bacon crumbled on top; I did not care for the bacon. The soup was odd to me as I was eating it. Because of the texture, it reminded me of corn chowder. There was a little spice/flavor from the jalapeño. What was odd to me, was it didn't wow me like I thought it would, but I kept eating it. So in the end, I think I really liked it bc I ate all of it!!! The menu is not large, but has a good variety for its size. The desserts were impressive, I just didn't have room for it. The BBQ poutine fries were so big on the tray that I felt a little ostentatious as I was carrying the tray back to my table. It felt like all of the food on my tray surely should have been going to a family. But no: All of these BBQ poutine fries were just for one gluttonous person (me). Every so often, I would get an enormous fry that was way bigger than the others. It was more like a steak fry! It was like a little baked potato. It was nice to have that variety in the appetizer (which I was treating like an entree because, again, I was eating this giant appetizer by myself without shame). One of my children opted to get the kids meal here, which is the mac & cheese with a side (he chose fries). The mac & cheese is cavatappi pasta, so it's that pleasing curly texture that kids love (my kid loved it). The facility is not overly attractive or inviting. You have to decide which door to use depending on which business you are frequenting. I didn't see any signs for the outdoor seating to direct you to the hostess. The parking lot is large with lots of spaces up close. We were here for food so we picked the door to Grains & Grill. The host was very friendly and kind. The inside looked welcoming. The journey to get to the outdoor seating was a bit of a maze. There seems to be plenty of comfortable indoor seating though it is kind of broken up in disjointed rooms. The outside area was nice. The over hang shielded us from the sun in our evening dinning hours. I found the tables to be a bit close together. There was another party next to our table so we had to be cautious about moving chairs to get situated. The outdoor chairs have a flexible plastic seat. The seat seemed to give more than made me comfortable. The chair seemed a bit flimsy. However, it was comfortable and didn't collapse on me. We started with the fried mushrooms. There were a LOT of small mushroom tips in this order. The batter was thicker and a bit mushy. There wasn't much seasoning flavor to the batter but it wasn't greasy to taste. The mushrooms seemed fresh. The dish was fairly good. The cocktail sauce had a decent amount of zip to it. My wife had the blackened fish tacos. Two came with the order. She loved the fresh taste. Definitely not a fishy taste. Delicious she said! I decided to try the Hoosier Hot Plate. It seemed like a house speciality...so why not! The tenderloin was outstanding! The pork was moist and juicy and moderately thin. The breading was nicely crunchy and moderately thick with a slight greasy taste. Maybe the best tenderloin I have ever had! The tenderloin was laid on top of a bed a real mashed potatoes. You could tell they were real by the lumps I bone smooth consistency. These were excellent as well. Just like mashed potatoes should be that were going to accent the meat. The tenderloin was topped with a creamed corn. I would have been disappointed if this creamed corn was the side dish. It was kind of bland and didn't have much of a corn taste. It was also rather mushy. I didn't think the corn added much taste to the tenderloin/mashed potato taste. Overall...it was an interesting dish that was worth a try.

Our drink order was taken, which was almost all water. Drinks came several minutes later. Orders were taken a few minutes after that. Food did take a bit but not unreasonable. At that time a few people needed more water. It took over 10 minutes before a pitcher of water was delivered to the table by someone other than our server. Bread was requested to the person bringing the water since we hadn't seen our server in nearly 15 minutes. Another 10 minutes and our server comes to check on us. She stated she didn't know about the lack of bread and blamed it on the other employee not telling her. At least another 10 minutes go by and nearly everyone is finished eating when the bread arrives. The food was good and the amount of food was good. All but me had eaten there before. 3 got the Hoosier plate, a couple had the tenderloin, a couple got burgers, and I got the Makers beef tips. All enjoyed their food and only a couple had any left to take home. The mashed potatoes were very good and a large portion. There were several ounces of meat and a good portion of green beans. The food was definitely a 4+. The service was a 2 at best. Along with the poor service, they added the optional 20% gratuity, since we had a party of 8. I knew this was possible since I read it on the menu. Most of the party did not. It was noted on the ticket but it was put very close to the other charges. For some, it was not noticeable. I understand the reasoning behind the charge but if the business isn't crowded and the servers aren't working excessively, I don't believe it's justified. In this instance, it may have led to poorer service since the server knew she'd be getting 20% no matter what.
