My mother and I dined at this establishment for lunch recently. As like some of the other reviewers, I can't understand how any one thinks this place is worth their time, money or calories. Not only was the food distasteful, but it was nothing like the pictures on YELP. Also the menu descriptions did not match what we were served. Because of a diners posted picture of the Bistro Scampi we ordered that appetizer. Ours was nothing like the posted picture. Sure, it was as described in the menu, but just barely. The "house made crostini" was nothing more than dry toasted baguette shaped, sliced bread. The sautéed shrimp was very good (the only enjoyable item we ordered). We ordered a variety of other items: eggplant rollatini, roasted beet salad and a classic cheese pizza. The eggplant rollatini was horrible. They were over fried, almost burnt, barely warm and served over a COLD tomato sauce. They seemed to me to be "food service" quality fried eggplant rolled around something that resembled ricotta cheese. The menu description is very vague regarding this item. And there was so much breading that I'm not even sure there was any eggplant, at least I couldn't taste or detect any. I asked the server if the chicken, veal or eggplant parmigiana were similar to this dish in respect to the breading and frying and he said absolutely. YIKES, I really think it's all food service, not fresh, in house prepared. The roasted beet salad did not match the menu description at all. I think there was one chopped up beet and lots of field greens along with a scant amount of Gorgonzola cheese and a copious amount of pistachios. The menu description never mentions the greens so I thought I would be receiving a nice plate of roasted beets topped with the cheese and pistachios. Not even close. It was okay, but not as described and not worth the price. I truly do not think that the (one) beet was even roasted. And although there was a plateful of greens, I had to pick many of them out as they were slimy and rotted. Now the pizza. Again, it looked nothing like any of the posted YELP pictures. It had too much cheese. You can have a "three cheese blend" without over doing it. We needed napkins to blot the oil off of the cheese, but when we tried to do that we realized the pizza was only luke warm. So was it a reheated food service pizza??? The texture was rubbery as well. I did notice a nice brick oven but I'm not sure if they use it. Their lunch menu seems to only consist of sandwiches, paninis and wraps. If you want an entree type of meal you have to order from the dinner menu. The establishment was not busy although I had to keep looking for the server??!! The place had an odd smell when we walked in, not the typical Italian restaurant aroma. The seating was not the most comfortable. The seat cushions are horrible and slip out from under you. Some of the tables have big wads of napkins under a leg in order to steady the table (this is also known as a nice little "home for insects"; use your imagination). I would not return or recommend this establishment. read more
