It took the waiters a very long time to get us our food. They were however, kind and accommodating, but unfortunately too slow. The antipasto was not that bad, actually probably the only decent thing that was served. And the coffee at the end was somewhat decent, but it didn't hit the spot. As an Italian it is vital to have sauce with your pasta, like an unhealthy amount. The pasta served was dry, no sauce, which lead to no flavour. The steak my bf had was both undercooked and dry. I had the chicken, which was also dry, and lacked tons of flavor. As a person who likes string beans, they did not taste good like at all. I don't know if it's the way they were cooked, but the smell made me sick. The salad on the other hand, it was drenched in oil and vinegar. It tasted super acidic and I couldn't finish it. A family member of mine had the fish, now I don't know how it tasted, but judging by how she did not finish her plate I'm only assuming it was just as bad. I've had better...

However, the service was quite slow throughout the meal. As for the food, there were a few disappointments. The chicken was dry, the salmon didn't have much flavor, and the steak was much too bloody for my preference. The pasta was also dry and needed more sauce. The salad had too much vinegar, and the cheese didn't really balance it out. The restaurant was also quite cold, and I had to keep my jacket on during the meal. The chairs weren't particularly comfortable either. That said, the staff were genuinely nice and welcoming, and the overall atmosphere had potential. It just wasn't the dining experience I was hoping for, and unfortunately, I left feeling more disappointed than impressed. Overall, it was an alright experience, but I wouldn't say it lived up to my expectations.

We were looking for Portuguese chicken and stumble upon Brazas Portugal a few years ago…read more It is a restaurant located in old st rose which is close to home. We did take out of their family combo (chicken, fried rice, fries, salad). And let me tell you, it is now our go to place for Portuguese craving!!! Their chicken is tasteful, moist!! Love their fries! The portions are generous, so that we often have leftover and it is still good the next day when heated. We recommended the restaurant to family and friends who are now regularly ordering from Brazas Portugal. Good friendly customer service :)

The ambiance is pretty dim with warm colors that set a nice mood for those of you who enjoy that intimate or romantic setting. We were promptly seated in the back, warm and far away from the cold winter harshness and isolated well enough so our conversation was kept private. After some contemplation we went with the 'Prato de Carnes' (meat platter!) which consisted of chicken, portuguese sausages and pork. While we waited we were provided with a huge warm bread bun which we promptly ravaged. After 15 minutes or so, our meal was served in a huge plate filled with delicious looking meats and a side plate with french fries with homemade mayo. Let me just state that the chicken was out of this world good, so much so it completely surpassed everything else. The moistness.... THE MOISTNESS PEOPLE!... and the taste... BY GAWD the TASTE!!!! I must go back just for this! The sausages, they were good... but completely forgettable after tasting that chicken... the pork? an afterthought!! The chicken folks... the chicken!!!! Why are you still reading this? The side fries were good as well... and the home mayo were delicious... they should provide it in a bigger bowl though. :) For dessert, we went with Portuguese tarts... they were pretty tasty. The price-tag is about average and worth it. The service was decent as well. All in all, somewhere I'd def go back.

When you arrive the restaurant is quite big and there's lots of comfortable seating. The menu is huge and there are so many things you can order it's hard to find just one thing because of this my group of 4 decided to get the everything platter which came with brisket ribs pulled pork half a chicken and 3 different sides and sauces. This gave us a really good taste of the classic barbecue options and we had plenty left over to take home. Although most of the food was good the pulled pork and the brisket were the best things on the plate and if your not super hungry getting either one of those items on there own are a great choice! When it came to the sides I was hoping the Mac and cheese would be out of this world but to be honest it fell short on taste the sweet potatoes and grilled veggies are better options in my opinion.

And the onion blossom was quite tasty. the low rating is the result of poor service. they literally took an hour to bring my entree to my table. Located is small and relatively easy to miss but clearly not worth missing. Interior is clean with a busy owner working on many delivery/pick-up orders and serving in-house patrons. Portuguese themed decorations with cute plates glued on the roof, Portuguese accessories along the walls and a huge bar you can eat at and watch the action in progress. I went with their quarter chicken with side fries and salad. The chicken was moist and tasty..... just as I'd expect a competent Portuguese place to provide me with with a great charcoal grill. What really knocked my socks off was how fantastic the fries were! Literally the best fries I have ever eaten. Perfectly prepared and then covered in their household secret blend of 17 spices.... these fries are literal taste-bud heaven! Portion size is generous, it's a huge plate. Along with my meal, I had a Sumol Passion fruit drink and a Pastel de Nata. I love Sumol (imported from Portugal) and it compliments this food perfectly. The Pastel de Nata was really good as well and I liked it so much I ordered a dozen to go to share at work. They were a big hit and I ended up going back to Escudo Express with some co-workers so they can enjoy what I experienced. They loved the chicken and freaked out how good the fries were. Everyone was delighted on how great the food is. Price-tag is reasonable, value is very high. I recommend their chicken, fries and Pastel de Nata. This place is truly a hidden gem on Montreal's north shore. Owner is direct yet friendly and funny. We enjoyed our time here and plan to go back.
