First time coming to this location in Costa Mesa and it was a good experience. Got their California Delight sandwich and I shared it with my hubby. It was his first time as well and we both really like the taste of this hearty sandwich. Overall fun filled decor in the store and good service. I'm not sure about that orange sauce but I think the sandwich alone was good enough. One less star for sticky and unbussed tables.

Nothing beats some refreshing sandwiches after a long day out walking and doing stuff. Board and Brew is a great casual place for friends and family to get some delicious and FULLY packed sandwiches, for a great price. They're inflation proof! We had the Toms Choice and Caesar Salad Wrap - both of which were great! The Orange Board and Brew sauce really adds a nice flavor to both. Service was quick, and they even give you a sample of the beer/seltzer of your choice if you're curious of the variety of libations they have.

As they do have food and the plates of food coming out from the kitchen look delicious. I came for draft beer. I'm from Florida and only my second time here and the bartender recognized me from my previous visit. Ice cold draft beer is great! Friendly atmosphere and seems popular with the locals. Reasonable prices was the winner!

Mike, that sandwich was the first and only thing I ate all day, and since my at-home dinner the night prior. The food poisoning was 100% caused my this meal from your establishment. Spare your comments about my hygiene. Your claim that food-borne illnesses take 24 hours for symptoms to kick in is incorrect. And since you seem to be dismissive of this, I may report this to the health department. Edit #2: What's amazing is that someone in a managerial position would attempt to gaslight a patron who had a genuinely unpleasant experience. Calling me a "keyboard warrior" and falsely claiming that I didn't contact your restaurant is inappropriate and unprofessional. Had you checked your records, you would have seen that I called and left a voicemail at 10:17 p.m. on Friday advising you to inspect your product. See my screenshot below of my call log. You can't insult someone, and then expect them to accept your well wishes. Now, from every source I've researched online, in addition to speaking with my mother who has been a culinary manager for a few different corporate fine dining establishments for 38 years, states the same thing ChatGPT summarized. The FDA lists for various organisms typical onset times such as: Staphylococcus aureus: 1-6 hours Salmonella: 6-48 hours While it's possible the orange sauce wasn't the cause, it's far more likely that another ingredient was responsible... perhaps the pastrami. If you intend to continue deflecting and insulting rather than addressing the issue professionally, please don't respond. A responsible manager would view this as an opportunity to verify product safety, not an excuse to belittle a customer who raised a valid concern.

The place looks super cool. Like if you're a skater, you'll love the place. There are plenty of seats and many types of sandwiches. Because this is new I look for a familiar sandwich although they have many unique ones. I saw the french dip. There was this melon canned rink called Mela I also tried since it sounded refreshing. The french dip wasn't the best. The bread was good, cheese good, but the meat was really dry. I've had many french dips, its my go to if I see a restaurant offers it. The au jus was decent. But I think if the meat was better this could have improved the sandwich greatly. The Mela drink was grat though. Super refreshing that I got another can before I left.

I've stumbled upon this location as I was at the Dollar Tree buying organizational items for Spring. Yahaira and Samanta were so helpful explaining the menu items and beer selection. I've now repeated a second time because the sandwiches are so fresh and delightfully filling. Italian Sub sandwich, Baja Chicken, and the SanDiegan were all top notch and tasty. Their potato salad is light and flavorful. Fort Point Westfalia Amber Ale! Yummy! See y'all soon! It's been FUN! Overall, A+ experience and my go to when I shop in the area!

Board and Brew is my latest favorite sandwich shop. Their sandwiches are delicious and affordable compared to other sandwich shops. I usually order their Veggie Supreme in a french baguette or a wrap. The veggies they use are always fresh and crispy. I like to eat it with a side of their signature sauce. I love that the sandwiches are a nice size so I usually can't finish a full one and have some left over. Parking is never an issue here as there is plenty of parking. Service is very quick, I usually get my order within minutes. Staff is very friendly and accommodating.

They provide the alcohol content for each and you can taste before ordering. Alas, two of us were there for the fellowship and don't like beer. For us, there was a refrigerator with a variety of sodas, a mineral water, and an apple juice. There's also a water dispenser with cups if you prefer. It's a smaller brewery in terms of size, so there wasn't much indoor seating, but they make up for it with a large outdoor seating area in the parking lot, which was a nice bonus. I can't remember the exact beer I ordered, but it was a light, fruity, crisp beer that I enjoyed. In terms of variety, the brewery seemed to focus more on lighter and hoppier beers. There weren't many IPA options or darker beers available. The smash burgers were delicious. I ordered the original smash burger and it definitely did not disappoint. I feel like a lot of places offer smash burgers nowadays but don't execute them well -- either you can't taste the beef or they overload it with cheese and sauce. Here, everything felt balanced. The beef had a great grilled crispiness to it, and the flavors all came through nicely. The tater tots were also really good, soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. Parking can be a bit difficult. They share a small lot with other businesses, so it fills up quickly. You'll probably need to find street parking nearby, and there isn't a ton of it available either.

Toasted bun, melted cheese draped properly, solid build integrity. Structurally, it's a well composed burger. But here's the honest take. The patty itself felt like it was holding back. The texture was good juicy enough, cooked properly yet the flavor didn't quite punch the way you expect from a brewery burger. It needed more salt, maybe a stronger sear, maybe even a blend with a bit more fat to bring depth. Right now, it tastes safe. And a place known for bold craft beer shouldn't serve a safe burger. The cheese and toppings carried more personality than the beef did. Every bite had balance, but not enough edge. A sharper cheddar, a house-made sauce with some acidity, or even a slightly more aggressive seasoning profile would elevate it from "good" to "I'm coming back for this." That said, it's not a bad burger. It's dependable. It just hasn't stepped fully into its potential. In a brewery setting where flavor is the brand, the cheeseburger should taste like it belongs next to a flagship IPA not like it's auditioning for it. Room for improvement? Definitely.
