Went here for drinks on a Friday around lunch and it was pretty packed. The atmosphere was pleasant overall. It's a smaller brewery in terms of size, so there wasn't much indoor seating, but they make up for it with a large outdoor seating area in the parking lot, which was a nice bonus. I can't remember the exact beer I ordered, but it was a light, fruity, crisp beer that I enjoyed. In terms of variety, the brewery seemed to focus more on lighter and hoppier beers. There weren't many IPA options or darker beers available. The smash burgers were delicious. I ordered the original smash burger and it definitely did not disappoint. I feel like a lot of places offer smash burgers nowadays but don't execute them well -- either you can't taste the beef or they overload it with cheese and sauce. Here, everything felt balanced. The beef had a great grilled crispiness to it, and the flavors all came through nicely. The tater tots were also really good, soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. Parking can be a bit difficult. They share a small lot with other businesses, so it fills up quickly. Green Cheek in Costa Mesa is a lovely brewery that serves amazing food. It's located behind the busy area of The Camp in Costa Mesa. They have a small parking area, but it was difficult finding a spot around there in general. The service is pretty good. When I asked for recommendations, the person taking my order did a great job sharing some of their preferences. I ordered the 12 piece wings for $12. The lemon pepper flavor was solid. It came with ranch and ketchup, which really elevated the experience with different flavors from every bite. I also tried the $14 Buffalo chicken sandwich. The size was good and it came with a delicious side of fries. However, in terms of protein, I think I prefer the chicken wings. I loved how family and pet friendly this place was. They have plenty of indoor seating and an outdoor area filled with long tables. Water, napkins, and some utensils are self serve. Overall, Green Cheek offers affordable and delicious food. Had my birthday party here and loved it! The vibe throughout the day was electric. Hosted @ 3pm on a Saturday so seating wasn't too full. We waited for a few people to finish their drinks and food and were able to grab a big table as soon as they left. Great for events/get together. Even though I am not a beer drinker at all, I enjoy coming here with friends for the food, seltzers, and atmosphere. The burgers, fries, and tots are delicious! I like to order the kids cheeseburger because the adult version with 2 patties is too much for me. The juicy burger with soft bun, crunchy fries, and refreshing seltzer is really satisfying. Hard to go wrong when you have a good pint to wash it down. Pineapple slushie marg is pretty darn good. I would recommend that on a hot day. Parking is a bit tricky here, so heads up on that. I tried and loved the Pierre's Paloma seltzer (16 oz), which was big but nice size! It was sweet and easy to drink. The Lavy Lemonade was delicious too. How it works: You order at the counter and you can keep the tab open if you'd like. Since I just got one drink, the service was very fast. Happened upon Green Cheek Beer Co. while in the area with a group of friends. We wished we had found this place earlier in our evening as we would have loved to stay longer. The huge outdoor seating area was lively and allowed for groups to mingle together while sharing the long picnic tables. The variety of beer they offer met the needs of everyone on our party! Then the food was fantastic, which isn't always the case at other breweries we have tried. I'm mad at myself for not snapping a photo of all of our food we ordered before everyone started eating so all I got was the German Pretzel photo. Aside from our pints, we had a German Pretzel with yummy cheese sauce, perfectly cooked. Not crunchy or dry but soft and easy to pull apart to share. An order of Cheeky Style Tots, my #1 favorite. The perfect amount of cheese sauce, grilled onions and bacon bits in every mouthful. Lastly a few of us shared the Cajun Chicken Sandwich. Large juicy chicken breast, nicely seasoned with fresh ingredients on a soft roll was so satisfying as well. The lavender lemonade & paloma seltzers are our go-to's because they're light, refreshing, and not too bloating - also can't beat the price $6/16 oz glass or $14 for a 4-pack! The smashburger is a MUST! Best brewery food we've ever tried because the double patty melts in your mouth and bun is soft, airy like a brioche bun. I think it would compliment well with pickles but that's just a personal preference. There's a nice outdoor area with shading. The ambience is casual and family/pet-friendly! I've always loved Green Cheek Beer Co., so it's disappointing to leave this review, but the food quality has really gone downhill lately. I ordered the veggie burger and had to send it back because it came out cold and undercooked. I understand it's not meat, but it still should be served hot. When I asked for it to be remade, the staff seemed visibly annoyed, which made the situation uncomfortable. Unfortunately, when it was remade, it still came out cold and they also left toppings on it that I had specifically asked to be removed the first time. The fries were also cold, and everything arrived about 20 minutes after everyone else at the table had already been served. At that point, I took a few bites and tossed the rest of a $16 meal... disappointed for sure. The atmosphere is still great, but the overall experience has changed a lot over the past year. For a place that isn't inexpensive, the drop in food quality and the lack of any apology or acknowledgment of the issues really stood out. If it wasn't for Pliney on tap we probably wouldn't still be coming back. read more

My friends and I enjoy traveling to specific areas for brewery crawls. This time we decided to visit Costa Mesa, and this was our first stop. Since they serve food coming here made sense so we can fill up before drinking. We ordered the lemon pepper chicken wings, burgers, the pretzel and we also had flights of beer. Even with a line it moved fast, and we ordered and we were given pagers. The portions were great and the food tasted good. Didn't really find this place worth going to. It's just drinking and benches. Line up to order food then get a buzzer to pick it up when it's ready. For drinks you got beer, seltzers, wine, and a few cocktails but nothing all that good to me. There's nothing in the way of things to do or live music just outdoor benches so if you just wanted to sit outside on benches with $20 drinks, cool. Food selection is limited. Didn't feel like having a burger and didn't want to eat a pretzel for dinner though I shouldve went with either of those because the Cobb salad I got was just okay. Parking is so so but I can see it getting packed. The later on in the night the farther away you should be prepared to walk for parking. Not a whole lot to look at except who you're with so if you wanted to do something there isn't anything to do but talk. The best smashburger in all of OC. You also can't beat the price. Highly recommend upgrading to a triple and adding a fried egg also. Outdoor space is kid and dog friendly. The venue was spacious and busy, but their lines went by fast and even though they were busy, people were very good about keeping the space they needed so that others could share the table space, which was nice. Really popping place and such a cool vibe. The outdoor seating is pretty extensive and definitely somewhere I could see myself coming back to play a board game. The indoor is also pretty popping. We went on a Friday night so the line did get a bit long but it moves pretty quickly. The IPAs we got were pretty fine, nothing terribly remarkable but fairly priced. The bar food we didn't get but all of the things that were passing by looked amazing. Parking was pretty tight, however, on a Friday, which could definitely be a hindrance for the area. read more

Came here on a weekend trip in from LA and loved it! Great dog friendly patio area with plenty of sun and shade. Lively but not too noisy, long tables for groups of friends. One of us needed wifi for a quick work task and it seemed to be fast and easy to log in. Loved the IPAs, tried both the West Coast and hazy. Really loved their food selections! The plant-based BBQ burger and fries were awesome (and I am picky about fries!) and my pretzel was soft and fresh with a great queso and stoneground mustard. Service was friendly and helpful throughout. For three people, two burgers, a pretzel, and four beers, the total came out to less than a hundred, which was totally reasonable. Parking was a little dicey-- took a couple laps around before got lucky and found a spot in their dedicated lot. Green Cheek is honestly my #1 favorite OC brewery for the really delicous drinks and THEIR IRRESISTIBLY CUTE PARROT MASCOTS!!! (Please make tank tops and let me buy your cardboard cutouts!! THEY ARE SO CUTE!!) Their West Coast IPAs and Pilsners are my fav and sometimes they come out with smoothie beer mixes and they are so awesome! The Paloma Seltzer is a great seltzer (and i usually super hate seltzers) and the lavender lemonade is a great alt for those who aren't into beers. First time at this gem of a brewery right in the middle of Costa Mesa at the boarder with Newport and Irvine. It's a nice brewery with expansive beer garden outside. Your order your foods and beers at the counter and you get a pager. I tried their smash burger, chicken club and fried chicken sandwich. Smash burger is fairly small and i finished it in two bites. The chicken bribers are larger. I recommend the fried chicken burger over the club as it was very tasty. You can get fries or salad with you sandwich or upgrade to tots. Expansive menu of beers, hard seltzer and a few wine options. A pitcher of beer is $25. Sandwiches are $14-16. It was super packed on Saturday night at 7 with the line to order out the door, but it moves fairly fast. Highly recommended and will visit again. read more

Really dope place. Parking can get tricky throughout the day so get here early if you can. Food here is delicious; they're always changing the offerings. The beers here are great variety. They also offer beer to go. I've been to the Orange and Oceanside spots a couple times but this spot is where we frequent the most. All beertenders here are mega friendly. Ample seating throughout. One in the main lobby, and smaller, quieter section in the middle and then a huge outdoor seating area. There's hardly a bad spot here. Always playing the jams. We came for lunch and a drink, we ordered a Cobb salad which was average at best for a $16 price tag. The turkey was about 10 small cubes that looked like a previously frozen, processed chicken. The salad was large but majority of it was lettuce and sliced onion. Additionally, the brewers were blasting hardcore screamo and death metal that flooded the outdoor patio area. When we asked if they would turn it down, we were met with a head-shake and annoyance. After approximately 15 minutes of the brewers screaming along with the music they finally dropped the roll down doors. Honestly this place has so much potential, the environment is good and the food as well as the drink, the one extreme downside are the pets. They allow pets and i guess don't have a health regulations with food and animals because guest have them on benches where other people eat and keep in mind these table don't get wiped down after each interaction. Visited here on a very busy Saturday. Parking was definitely a challenge but we lucked out after a few loops and somehow got one of the 10 spots in their actual lot. Other options are parking around the property but those are hard to get to, so option three is Valet parking. I *think* it was $10 but arguably worth it to try this place. They do have a nice selection of beers and decent food options. You have to wait in line and then order from one of the cashiers. They'll page you and you can pick up your food when it's ready. The person we ordered from had incredible patience with all your questions and special requests. My wife basically wanted a salad and a bunch of meats but it was probably not the easiest thing to ring up. Seating was decent. As crowded as a place was, we were able to grab a table fairly quickly. As to the food, the meats that came with my wife's salad were all tasty. I got a smash burger and tots. Burger was good and tots were a'ight. As to the beers, I got Doh' birds are real (California IPA), Forced Optimism (Hazy IPA), I knew that years ago (DIPA), and their Lavender Lemonade. The three beers were great not just in clever naming convention, but also fresh and tasty. But the real star of the show was the Lavender Lemonade. I'm mostly a beer guy but our server acknowledged the lemonade is what they're known for. Really glad I tried it. Not too tart or sweet and just the balance of alcohol.
