My husband and I were on vacation in California and he needed a haircut. We stopped into BLVD Barbers as it was close to the place we were going that day. There were three or four people ahead of him, so we decided to wait. I noticed that the owner (Nina) does not sanitize anything after, and in some cases, during each haircut. I watched her grab tools from a drawer marked "dirty." Every tool she uses on clients gets placed on a hair filled towel on her work area, then gets reused on other clients without being cleaned. This is a very unsanitary barbershop, and their disgusting practices can cause harm. During the haircut on my husband, she went over to help another male barber with his client. The same clippers she was using on my husband, she used on the male Barber's client. After she was done helping him, she took the clippers back to my husband, and use them on him. My husband now has a gross breakout on the exact place she clipped after using it on the other client. I have already emailed the California board of barbering and cosmetology to advise them that they must look into this barbershop, because she could be transferring someone's infectious disease to someone else. My husband will be seeing a dermatologist tomorrow to determine what she did to my husband. I'm sure like a lot of people, I get very nervous when trying a new barbershop. I went through all the local places I found on Yelp, but they were all, either very expensive or looked very shady. This place looked like it hit the sweet spot, that I was looking for in a barber shop. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by Selena (not sure if that's how it's spelled) but she was very nice and had a friendly smile. I got a mid taper fade and it is one of the best tapers I've ever had. She did an amazing job! I really enjoyed how she would ask questions and verify that she was cutting my hair how I wanted it. I've been getting my hair cut here for a while and they always do a great job and cut it to my specifications. The owner, Nina, is very friendly and really knows hair. I have thick curly hair which can be difficult to cut right if you don't know what you're doing and she always nails it. There are some other people who work here as well and they have done a good job also. You really can't go wrong with any of them. I highly recommend this place for men's haircuts. read more

I have been going to her for just over two years and I have never received a bad haircut from her. I have been to many barbers and Nina is definitely one of the best that I've been to. I have noticed a review from "Laura" down below and I completely disagree with that review. Nina is a certified barber that knows what she is doing and does a great job with fades. I would take that review from Laura with a grain of salt since there are no pictures from her and all my friends who I've recommended to Nina, have absolutely loved their haircuts by her and continue to go to her to this day. I have been coming here for years. Today I went in to Nina who I always go to and asked for a cleanup which is $15. The haircut took less than 10 minutes and she charged me $35, which is $5 more than she usually charges me. She told me it has been slow this new year so she charged me extra, but that is the last time she'll charge me. Not how to run a business to loyal customers. read more
