Beyond her skill, there's something about her presence that makes you feel comfortable right away. You don't feel like just another appointment you feel genuinely welcomed. Megan was just as great. She's incredibly easy to talk to, very attentive, and really in tune with you throughout the whole process. She keeps everything flowing smoothly and makes the experience feel relaxed from start to finish. Together, they create an environment that's warm, welcoming, and hard to come by. Tyler listened to what we were looking for and delivered. My son's hair not only looked great directly after, it grew out nicely. The shop itself is modern and located within/near The Camp. Finding a barber is hard, but finding a good barber is extremely hard. Finding someone who can…read morerepeatedly give you exactly what you're looking for every single time is rare, and that is why I'm giving this place 5 stars. The Pro: I always go to Max, and he is incredible. He always makes time for me, and I never have to worry about how my hair is going to turn out. It's actually crazy--it looks exactly like the photos I show him every single time. He's a true professional who knows his craft. The Value: If I were rating the studio's pricing alone, it would probably be a 3 or a 4. A normal haircut here is about $90, which is undeniably expensive. I know the barbers rent their individual booths and don't set those studio prices, but $90 is a lot for a standard cut. Final Verdict: Even though the price is steep, Max does such a great job that I don't mind paying to see him. I'd follow him anywhere just to cut out the middleman, but as long as he's here, it's worth the investment for a perfect cut.

Valet is apparently free, but I found street parking in front of OSPI. I initially found SAGE on Yelp, then visited their website to learn more before booking. I really appreciated how transparent they are. Each stylist has a profile with a bio and a picture. The services and individual pricings are listed upfront in the booking portal, which made it easy to choose someone who fit what I was looking for. Price transparency is important to me, and at the very end I was charged exactly what I booked. My stylist was Mikayla, and she was incredibly meticulous/detail-oriented. She spent about 4.5 hours perfecting my Full Highlights, and I never felt like she was rushing through any part of the process. During the consultation, I felt heard. She listened to what I wanted without any judgment or pressure to steer me toward a different outcome. Instead, the conversation felt collaborative, with explanations that helped me make informed decisions. I know for some, having to chat for all that time may be daunting. Mikayla struck the perfect balance between friendly conversation and giving me space. She clearly communicated each step of the process before doing it. My Full Highlights service included foiling, toning, a shadow root, a hair mask, and a full blowout. I'm so happy with how everything turned out!

Colby really took the time to listen to what I wanted and understood exactly what I was looking for. I wanted to keep my long hair while adding movement and shape, and he absolutely nailed it. My hair finally looks the way I had envisioned. Beyond his talent, he was incredibly kind and thoughtful throughout the appointment. Before I left, he even let me know that if there was anything I'd like adjusted after living with the haircut for a few days, he'd be happy to take care of it. That level of care and attention really stood out. I'm so glad I found both SAGE and Colby. I'll definitely be back and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a stylist who truly listens and delivers.

Such was my day, In Newport the other day. I visited a friend at his office with a view of the Pacific Ocean and the bay. Both views were peekaboo's however, delightful, and fun. Then I cruised into my favorite fish shop - the Crab Cooker - and got a small slab of albacore with some tartar sauce. Lunch handled! Then I looked at Yelp for barbershops in Newport Beach. Sure enough - Byrd's Nest came up. I read the reviews and all were quite good earning them right near five stars! I cruised in myself to find out more and sure enough, the stylish young gentleman Barber named Josh Ochoa was available and ready to go. I used their app (Vargaro) to check his availability before cruising in. Josh took great care of me, even a slight discount for paying cash, I was cleaned up and ready to go in a matter of 50 minutes. I had a beautiful day in Newport. If you're on Main Street, pull in and keep going toward the dock, there's parking there. Inside, it's quiet and chill. Oscar, the owner, was great to talk to.
