    MOLD remediation containment collapsed

Our management company informed us that blusky said we harassed them and demanded warranties when we simply had a conversation with them regarding whether it was safe for them to do 12 days of mold remediation on out kitchen in our small apartment while we were preset. Blusky said it was. (Never mind not having a kitchen for 2 weeks as a renter.) We requested this verbal assurance in writing. Instead we received an email from our management company stating: "Due to the recent events involving our vendor BluSky and their interactions with you, BluSky has notified us that they will not proceed with work on the unit unless it is vacated. While in the unit you both harassed the vendors and demanded written warranties and appeared to prevent work.  The conversation led the BluSky team to believe that at the end of the work day, you would likely interfere with and contaminate the containment area before the next work day would commence.  As such, the remediation team will not be conducting any further work in your unit until you have vacated for the length of the work, which is expected to take 9 days in total." What kind of professional lies about it being safe to stay in the unit, but when politely asked to supply it in writing, tells lies to our management company like this? To add insult to injury, their entire containment collapsed. This is the kind of work they do and how they treat people. I've requested to speak to them to resolve but they refuse to talk to me since I'm the resident but this is my home and I have to deal with the health implications and consequences of their negligence.

If I could give them negative stars I would. We had a fire and they assured us they were pros and could do everything. First, they put 3 neighbors on the same permit. This meant that none of us could move in until we ALL cleared inspections. Work was not attempted for months on my unit. Meanwhile I am in an Airbnb month to month. Finally nearly a year later my condo didn't pass inspections because there were problems with my neighbor's condo. I finally did move back in and black spots began to pop out of the walls like ghosts. I asked if my walls were primed and they said yes. I pressed them on the issue after being assured by multiple other contractors the walls weren't primed. Harbro said "it wasn't in their scope of work". So you lied about it and then this is your excuse?! At this point we would have to move everything we have moved in back into a storage space, find a place to live for at least a couple weeks while our place is primed and repainted. Then we have to move everything back in! This would cost us 25k+ and Harbro refuses to take responsibility for this. They said they would come back and do the work again. Sorry no! The painting you did in the first place is all over. They said they hired a company that wasn't used to doing anything other than new construction. Wow so we just have paint all over our molding, floors, beams, and everywhere else. DO NOT TRUST THESE GUYS! The work I tried to get them to do after I moved back in was lackluster and took weeks to even get someone out. Also, every time they sent a guy out to fix something he would mess something else up For example: screen was bent: He fixed bent screen, but now screen has hole in it. Install sliding door: door scratched and holes in shutters and frame for shutters an inch away from wall. I have too many examples to mention, but have pictures of all of it. If you have fallen for these guys take pictures of all of it! I am filing a complaint with the state licensing board and taking them to court. Please do not make the same mistake as I did!

Fans on 24/7 down our hallway

A flood is not always the best way to start your week after Labor Day weekend of 2020 especially during our current world pandemic. We are located at the World Trade Center in Long Beach, Ca. and are surrounded by infants through preschoolers as our business is a Private Preschool. Our first worry was, "will the renovators be understanding, thorough and professional?" We met Jack and Abraham from Blusky and there was immediate relief due to their kindness and professionalism. They walked through the school and explained the process of bringing back our center back to normal. The damage included: a classroom, a hallway, front office walls, and a restroom. Blusky had fans going 24/7 to minimize the damage. The customer service Blusky provided was exceptional. The direction they gave their crew met our expectations with that being said, their crew was outstanding! They constantly checked on our needs and their crew's process. Their friendly demeanor allowed comfort to interact with them. The crew worked around our business hours and had the student's interest at heart. The final result left our center back to its original state if not better. Thank you, Jack, Abraham, Alex and company for your constant support throughout out the water damage. Like our kids would say...you rock!

Bluesky in the containment area no PPE's when removing drywall

Bluesky was hired by Avalon Bay Calabasas to remediate the window sill that had visible mold upon moving into the apartment in August 2023. I was told by Avalon Bay that what I was seeing was dirt. It's against their policy to test for mold, I had to pay out of pocket for a mold inspection, lab results and recommendations. I understand that every remediation company has different standards, however The recommendations set forth by the inspector were not followed during remediation by Bluesky. The hardware was not removed and replaced along with the window (which doesn't work properly) neither was the screen. the window sill still has mold and mold spores growing back after two weeks. I can see the spores growing in between the rubber metal & glass. The cleaning was very superficial. Paint and stucco were sprayed on window & screen and left behind. . I didn't see any PPE's on the employees inside or outside the containment area, I have videos. I'm disappointed with the quality of work. Avalon said that they were going to come back out and address the issues but not remove & replace the window.

I got the testing done, it came back positive for asbestos. I panicked. I called Pacific Environmental for an estimate on the job. Armando and Arturo came out to assess the job and provide with me with a quote. To my surprise, the price was only slightly higher than the regular remediation company. I was pleasantly surprised by the affordability. Additionally, they promised me the job would be completed in 1 day! WOW! This would be best case scenario. The office staff was also very kind and helpful with prompt estimate and response time. Today was the day of the job, I was very anxious and worried due to the fact that my parent's house is very old. The job supervisor, two workers and Arturo came out to ensure that everything would be okay! They did a superior job, kept everything clean, taped off all areas and did a great job with containment! I am so grateful to the PEAS team, now I can breathe easy and I am so relieved! I highly recommend this company for any abatement project. Great price, great customer service and great quality work! They listened to everything I asked for and delivered above and beyond! Thank you to the entire PEAS team!

Dino at Pacific Environment Abatement is exactly that. We're looking at buying a home in Seal Beach (Orange County) with popcorn ceilings, and I wanted to understand the reality of asbestos testing and what the asbestos abatement process would look like if it came back positive. I called Dino expecting a quick, generic pitch. Instead, he took the time to walk me through each step like a professional consultant--what the risks are, what's worth worrying about (and what isn't), the tradeoffs between different approaches, and how to think about the situation before making a decision. What really stood out was how transparent he was. No upsell, no scare tactics, no "you must do this immediately" pressure. Just clear explanations, practical guidance, and the kind of honesty you only get from someone who actually knows the work and genuinely cares about doing right by the customer. His pricing also sounded very fair and reasonable. With just one phone call, Dino saved me time and gave me a great understanding of the abatement process. If we end up needing asbestos testing or asbestos abatement, Dino and Pacific Environment Abatement will be the first and only call. Also worth mentioning: his office staff was incredibly kind and helpful too.

The owner, Ami, presented himself as highly experienced with wildfire remediation and repeatedly warned me that other companies--and even my insurance--would not protect my family. I have two very young children, and I relied on what he told me. Only later did I realize that most online reviews were from people who had phone consultations, not verified wildfire remediation customers. During the project, Ami also told me he was receiving many referrals from my then-State Farm adjuster after I introduced them. Without my knowledge, he brought a public adjuster to my home and was seen on my doorbell camera discussing all the work he received since that introduction. I never consented to my home being used in this way. Haztek initially sent my insurance an estimate over $160,000. After they learned my policy limit was $100,000, the estimate dropped to $84,000, and I was asked for a 50% deposit. I later learned this deposit structure is not allowed for this type of work in California. After work began, contamination increased dramatically. - Initial asbestos levels around 1,000 structures/cm² rose to over 100,000 structures/cm² in the same areas. - Lead levels that were originally within safe EPA limits (one area at 3 µg/ft²) increased to as high as 69 µg/ft² after a chimney sweep. Visible ash remained around the fireplace, in a room labeled as a clean area for furniture. When I asked about the visible ash and the results, I did not receive clear explanations. We failed two clearance tests over two months, each showing higher contamination. While this was happening, extensive demolition occurred, without permits or testing for lead/asbestos despite our home being built in 1974. This included drywall, hardwood floors, cabinetry, tile, and bathroom fixtures. I only discovered it when my doorbell camera showed my toilet sitting on my doorstep causing me to drive home and find total destruction. When I asked why I hadn't been notified, the explanation I received didn't match the dates shown on camera. I was told demolition was due to mold. Two licensed mold companies later performed moisture testing and confirmed there was no moisture problem. The demolition caused major damage to my home. I also have footage of appliances being moved in ways that damaged surrounding floors * Dust/Ash remained on multiple surfaces after work was marked complete. * When I asked what justified their costs being so much higher than companies like Servpro, no specific differences were provided. * PPE usage was inconsistent. When I was present, it was used; camera footage on other days I wasn't showed workers didn't. * Several items labeled "keep" went missing, including irreplaceable baby keepsakes. Smart devices they claimed were non-cleanable later appeared active and used at a different location, with streaming accounts still logged into and used. * Reported work hours didn't match what was captured on camera. Haztek demolished our HVAC closet, which contained popcorn material. No containment was used. I have photos of this material falling into the HVAC system and return ducts. Afterward, asbestos levels in nearby areas tested extremely high. This demolition was not part of the original wildfire or asbestos dust scope. By the time I understood what was happening, our insurance benefits were nearly exhausted, and our home was left with higher contamination and heavy damage. We ultimately discarded nearly all belongings. The impact on our family has been significant. Haztek advertises expertise in asbestos, lead, fire, and mold remediation. When I checked the CSLB website, the listed license showed a general contractor license. I was not able to locate: * A C-22 asbestos abatement license * CDPH lead abatement certification * IICRC fire or mold remediation certification If you are dealing with wildfire or hazardous cleanup, I strongly recommend verifying all licenses with the appropriate agencies, using independent third-party testing, avoiding large upfront deposits, and confirming all scope details in writing. I hope sharing my experience helps someone else avoid what we went through.

Communication was inconsistent, timelines changed, and we were told at various points that they were waiting on insurance coordination before work would proceed. The company ultimately chose not to complete the remediation, removed their equipment, and then billed for more days than the equipment was actually on site. When I attempted to ask questions and clarify the discrepancies, the interactions were not handled professionally. The verbal communication I experienced felt confrontational and dismissive rather than solution-oriented, which made an already difficult situation much worse. Everything was handled so unprofessionally. Because I needed to move forward with repairs and focus on my family, I paid the invoice to prevent further escalation while still disputing the charges. Homeowners going through a loss need clear information, accurate billing, and respectful communication. Unfortunately, that was not our experience.
