I enjoyed my dinner while staying at Secrets. There is usually a wait at this steakhouse, but they provide you a buzzer-- which could allow you to go downstairs and get a drink and lounge around on the couches while you wait for a table. In my case, I stayed in sports bar and watched some NBA Playoff games until I was able to be seated. The service here was cool, but like most of the establishments here, it's a long wait for your meal. I went with the Salmon with a side of mashed potatoes-- I was pleased with both, but my cheesecake, for dessert, was awful. It was very rough and I ate less than half. Overall, I would say this is the best restaurant that I tried on the property and it was wonderful. I would say anybody staying here should definitely venture here. read more

This is one of the fancier dinner spots at Secrets The Vine as it is the steakhouse and usually has a line out the door when they open. Like all the other spots here - they don't do reservations and it is first-come, first-served. This leads to long lines around 6pm for people trying to get inside. It's not very big. Our party of 6 had to wait around 45 minutes. The steak was pretty good but the starters and sides were not. The Mexican corn was disgusting and grey. The potatoes were cold, as was almost everything else. It wasn't that amazing. We had much better food at some of the other restaurants here and chose not to come back here again. Our server was busy (they all were) but, once the food was dropped off he literally never came back and I asked for an iced tea 3x and waited about 25 minutes for the refill to finally arrive. They did a wonderful job serving us birthday cakes for my father-in-law and son-in-law for their birthdays and those were very good. But the overall food and service was awful. read more

Highly recommended by the hotel staff, blue water grill, despite its name, is a steakhouse. The steak was okay, I tried the picanha and the filet. The filet was the best out of the two since it was tender. The mashed potatoes had too much butter and every side came in a miniature dipping bowl. Roasted veggies were good. The chimichurri sauce is the furthest thing from chimichurri I've ever tried. This steakhouse does not provide steak knives which was uncomfortable. Arturo provided great service. read more

I hate that I have that I have to post a negative review for this place, but it's a steak house and the steak was not a fillet that I ordered, twice. Maybe the beef is just different here but a fillet mignon should not be tough. Both were tough. Seasoned well. But not good. The ribeye that was ordered looked gray. See photo. As a steak house, a 1 centimeter steak is not acceptable. This steak sadly was not seasoned. On to the good stuff, because really, everything else savory was good. The wedge was seasoned well. The beet salad was wonderful. Our server was really patient. The spacing between courses was on point. I decided to try dessert. Another disappointment. I had the flourless chocolate cake with espresso mouse. I believe gelatin was used for stability. It was a bit on the rubbery side. I did speak to others that did not have the same results. Lucky them. Lastly, this place doesn't accept reservations. So we had to line up like cattle to get in for a table. But that so far seems normal since I've been at this resort. read more

By far our favorite meal during our stay! When they say this place gets busy it does because it's so tasty. While riding the bus I realized how popular steak houses are in the area so it's no surprise that this restaurant is the same. Expect to wait at least 40 minutes if you're in a bigger group. Not a big deal for us since it's on the 12th floor near the Olio bar so you can grab a drink by the pool or smoke in their area until your buzzer goes off. We came with a group of 13 so we were seated in the back and the manager just gave us the specials in bulk so we didn't need to go per person for appetizers. APPETIZERS + Tuna Tartar + Tuna Salad + Pino Empanada ENTREES + Grilled Octopus + Ribeye + Filet Mignon + Truffled Mashed Potatoes DESSERT + Apple Tart + Cheesecake + Chocolate Cake All the above were delicious and were favorites for the table. For the appetizers the tuna tartar was the one I couldn't get enough of. As for the entrees the winner for me the was ribeye (cooked medium) and the grilled octopus. The ribeye was tender and flavorful and the truffle mashed potatoes were melt in your mouth and absorbed all the juices. The octopus was HUGE and not what we were expecting but we're so glad the team brought it out for us even though we didn't initially order it. The octopus was grilled perfectly and was not overcooked at all. Service here was great and our table never went empty with food or drinks! Best steakhouse ever! We tried the signature baseball steak, new york strip, ribeye and all was really nice. My favorite was the new york strip-really tender. They also make in house brisket and braised short ribs. Both were super melt off the bones meat, but a bit salty with the gravy. I loved all the sides, mash potatoes, corn on the cob, baked potato, mushrooms, spinach and bacon. Plus they have the best cheesecake ever plus apple pie with vanilla icecream-not too sweet just right. We came here on two trips and wished it wasn't our last day. My husband had the grilled octopus and raved it was the best he ever had. The servers were amazing-our wine glasses were never empty and water was refilled quickly. Beautiful dining room, I had high hopes, but unfortunately I was disappointes. Service was polite and cheerful but inefficient - slow: empty plates and glasses sat at empty tables for too long around me, my wine and water glasses remained empty for quite awhile even in the middle of my meal, though the room wasn't full. The food, which is the most important thing: The octopus carpaccio was textureless, flaccid and mushy. Not much flavour. The beef broth soup had floating islands of cooled oil, indicating uneven heating, maybe microwaved? And the ribeye...it smelled so good! What a disappointment. Not properly trimmed - first bite I had to spit out bone hard gristle hidden among the fat. It had good beefiness in the aroma and taste, but it was so soft to the point of being mushy...small saving grace - the salt grinder was set to very coarse and was loaded with rock salt. This restaurant is the best one at secrets the vine but you have to wait to get in. We went there twice during our stay and both of the times, we waited around 40 minutes. They give you a pager and an estimated time but the estimated time is very off. The lady told us 20 mins but we ended up waiting for over 40 minutes. The best place to get steak at the Secrets the vine! The service was amazing and everything came out promptly! The signature steak as well as the New York steak was phenomenal. We ordered both on one plate and it was probably one of the best meals we have had at the resort. They have a good selection of sides and they have other options like grilled salmon if you're not feeling like steak. Our server, alejandro, was the best during our four night here on the resort. Go to this place early or late! It gets packed. Opens at 6 and you can usually get a seat any time before 6:30 after that it's usually a hour or two hours on the wait list. It's really worth the wait! The food comes out at a great pace where they aren't rushing you to get out of the as fast as possible. We were able to sit down and enjoy a few glasses of wine and just talk. The steaks were really good, not NY Steak house good but pretty darn good for being "free" They were cooked just the way we asked. My wife ordered medium rare and I ordered rare and all three steaks were cooked to that temp! The rib-eye is deff the way to go. It's about a half inch thick, about 1 1/2 inches less than I get back home but it was really good. I had to add salt and pepper for taste and it ate much better after that. Be prepared to saw like a lumberjack thou, the knives are not the sharpest to cut through the steak. Lucky the tables are well planted on the ground and you don't move the table too much! Ha The corn was amazing and the mashed potatoes were just alright. It was basically a baked potato mashed up. The cheese cake was not as great as it sounded. The crust was very weird and had a horrible waxy paper texture. I would skip on that. The service was top notch and when our drinks were getting low he was there filling up our glasses! The restaurant had an elegant feel and the food did not match. The seafood appetizer, with mussels, was disappointing and the shells cracked in my mouth causing a cut. The mahi mahi had zero flavor and was dry. My wife's dish of salmon was inedible as it was raw in the middle. We dined at Bluewater Grill twice during our visit to Secrets the Vine and I would highly recommend it. What stands out about Secrets and Bluewater Grill was the service. Everywhere we ate the service was spectacular. Alejandro was our server both times and he went above and beyond. We ordered the open faced shrimp ravioli and pazoleta as our appetizers. I loved the shrimp ravioli and the cream sauce it came with was SO good. They should consider making it an entree option. Personally, I wasn't a fan of the pazoleta as I found it to be underwhelming. It's just melted cheese with peppers on top. For our entrees I had the braised short rib and my husband had the grilled ribeye. Our consensus was that the braised short rib was the way to go. It was so tender and fell off the bone. The second time we went we met the chef and he told us it's cooked for four hours. It was incredibly good and I highly recommend it. The ribeye wasn't bad but not as good as short ribs. The desserts are also great. We tried the cheesecake and the apple pie. They are on the shareables menu and one is enough for two people. I came here on my first night in Cancún with my fiancé for dinner. Bluewater Grill was highly recommended by a few of my friends that have actually visited the Secrets the Vine. We had the honor of having Armando as our server. I read a few reviews online also to get a general idea of what to order as the entire menu looked so well thought out. After a hard debate with my fiancé, we decided on the Octopus carpaccio and the Caesar salad for starters. Both came out quickly and both were surprisingly well plated and delicious! For our entrees, my fiancé ordered the grilled salmon and I ordered the signature steak. For sides, the salted spinach, grilled vegetables and the creamy artichoke. We were disappointed they ran out of their smoked corn. For the main course, we tried each other's dish and I can honestly say, The salmon was cooked to perfection. It was buttery and melted in my mouth. I wanted to take another bite but resisted. The signature steak was seared to a true medium rare, and the gravy that accompanied it was savory and a good pairing. Excellent and devoured within minutes! All the sides were a little small but gave us a chance to taste and enjoy each one. So basically, it was portioned just right! We are staying here for 4 nights and we will be returning to try the other dishes! Definitely recommend to anyone that has the privilege to visit Secrets the Vine! read more

Alejandro and Gabriel are the greatest tag-team in service history! Never her better and more genuine service anywhere in my life. Request to be.put in the section and you'll never want for anything. Food is sublime and perfectly cooked. I ordered a filet rare and that's EXACTLY how it was served - still mooing and perfectly seared/seasoned. The grilled octopus main is amazing - charred perfectly and tender as you could imagine. Appetizers like tuna tartare, octopus carpaccio and seafood (octopus, squid, mussel, shrimp) empanada are in a league of their own. Fantastic wine selection from all over the world and Alejandro is a heck of a sommalier as well. We went here twice during our stay and I only wish we had a location back here in Chicago. This place had the best reviews but it has constantly been the worst experience of all the restaurants. The management here has been horrible and did not care on celebrating anything. I'm newly engaged this morning and let them know and the manager brought over a menu to purchase drinks. I wasn't expecting much but wasn't expecting absolutely NOTHING - Plus waiting over 30 minutes of what they estimated. I wanted a better experience than the first time that I ate here but it was so much worse of an experience and definitely put a damper at the end of the night. This place could use a lot of help in management and customer service. Food is very sub-par. If you're from any type of major city, you will be disappointed... COVID-19 UPDATE The servers all wear masks but this hotel doesn't manage the customers wearing masks. My partner and I certainly did and wore masks at all Time except while eating. Upscale dining & really great food! Vegan AND Gluten free options!! This restaurant is definitely the most popular at the hotel so I recommend arriving early. The steak is the go to for meat eaters. It's a huge juicy piece of steak. My dad and brother loved it! Sides are kind of small, but the steak should fill you up. My mom had the fish and it looked very good. I ordered the yummy grilled vegetables and lentil soup. I was in heaven so much so I ordered it again the next few times we went. I was not expecting healthy alternatives in Mexico. We tried Bluewater Grille last night, part of the Secrets of the Vine resort. Overall, we were very underwhelmed. It is supposed to be an upscale steakhouse. For salads, my husband had the cesar. Was OK, the dressing was homemade. I had the organic salad which was pretty good as well. The salad portions are tiny. We ordered the seafood platter to share. The shrimp was great but scallops and mussels were so overcooked that they were not edible. For entrees, I ordered the ribeye, my husband had the skirt steak. I ordered by ribeye medium and it came out medium in some spots, and medium-well or well in others. The meat was poor quality, very stringy and difficult to cut. My husband's skirt steak was also very fatty and stringy, quite flavorless. We both ordered the portabella mushrooms on the side which were excellent! But the steak should have been the show-stopper and was not. Service was great, nice ambiance. It takes a while to get food at any of the restaurants at this resort. Make sure you aren't in a hurry to get anywhere. For you wineo's out there, their list of bottles for purchase is quite extensive! We didn't try any but I took a look and was impressed. read more

Miguel was our server in the VIP area in the back for a group of 6. He did a great job explaining everything and was great with my lengthy list of allergies. Service was 9/10 only because he became less attentive when we didn't order wine. It was hard to get water refilled and needed a few reminders. Food was 9/10 very yummy and maybe a bit too much food. Appetizers we had a tuna salad with raw tuna, some tuna sashimi, and Caesar salad for the first round. They brought corn soup for me (allergies), a variety empanadas and grilled octopus. For entree, we had a variety of the filet mignon, ribeye and octopus. The truffle in the mashed potatoes was a little too much for me. Dessert was a variety of sweet slices with vanilla ice cream. Flavors were chocolate cake, apple pie, and cheesecake. Enjoyed our night! We've been to the Asian Resturaunt, the Sea Salt Grill and Market Cafe on property and I would rank this second/third on the list. Would recommend them find a different bussing system.
