It took forever to get my food and then I had to send clams back because the clam broth still tasted like white wine and need further reduction. Was completely ignored most of the evening and it was a struggle just to get anyone's attention for any request like a drink refill. Bar tender busy all night hustling drinks for the rest of the restaurant, but wasn't tending his bar. Clams which were supposed to be an appetizer arrived with the entree about 50 mins later. The food was OK but nothing exceptional. For as much as restaurants have hiked their prices post-COVID, one would expect the quality of food to match the high prices. Used dishes and glasseware was never taken away. Finally ordered desert and coffee. While waiting I expressed my dissatisfaction to a staff member (it was his last day). Coffee finally arrived on a French press coffee pot and when I poured it, the coffee was so watered down that it was like pouring coffee from a twice used coffee capsule. Staff member witnessed this. I requested some sort of comp and all he could do was to remove the 20% gratuity added to all the bills. I thought this was not cool to completely strip anyone of their tip, so I got a 15% discount. So wanted to give it another shot. 2nd time for a lunch, Waitress messed up our order. Only 3 tables had people, 2 women at one, 1 guy at the bar and 2 of us. The noise level would not allow me to talk on the phone in the restaurant. The acoustics are really, really, really bad. I went there with my mom and boyfriend around lunch hour on Sunday because of the good yelp reviews. Boy am I disappointed! The restaurant was literally empty. The hostess told us to choose wherever we wanted to sit, so we chose to sit outside, along with two other tables who also settled outside around the same time. The waiter gave the menus to the other tables without acknowledging us. After we patiently waited a few minutes for him to notice us, he said "I'll be right with you" while passing by. He then continued to serve the other tables with water, taking orders, etc., without showing any sign to serve us. My boyfriend finally got up to get us the menu because we were hungry. Nobody noticed that either. This is when I decided I would rather not to eat there. When we got up and were on our way out, the waiter saw us and did not say anything. We got a Bloody Mary, raspberry drop, the special which was 1/2 Reuben and apple arugula salad and salmon cakes. Everything we had was fresh and delicious. It's a little on the spendy side especially if you get drinks but the happy hour menu looked great. The food menu isn't super big but has enough to satisfy most palettes. The menu just changed from summer they kept the clams and they are a great appetizer the menu is varied and so fresh tasting I don't think there is a bad choice. They never called us and just scratched our names off the list, so our wait was over an hour. Then, they said there were no tables available outside when there were. Drinks took 20 min, and the clam appetizer was about 25 minutes. They are clearly understaffed and disorganized. The $30.00 clams were nothing special, and the drinks are way overpriced. They sat families who checked in after us, outside. The clams were bland and not even PNW clams! They also add a 20% gratuity charge atoutmaticly! To echo other reviewers and make this super clear to future patrons: Mandatory 20% gratuity no matter the party size. This is not hidden in any way, and the last two times I've dined here in the past 6 months, the waitstaff tell you as soon as you sit down and again when they bring the bill. They cross out the tip section of the receipt and just want a signature if you pay by card. It feels... gross. The friends I was with last time-- we had a 15-minute discussion about how awkward this is for customers and waitstaff and we'd GLADLY see an increase in food and drink prices and be told "we don't accept tips here" with a smile instead of this weird setup. There's got to be a classier way to pay your staff a living wage. I've had great service and poor service here, and I bet this tip system isn't motivating for staff. I've waited tables plenty and am well aware of the pitfalls. You can be an excellent server and still get shorted or stiffed. Anywho, the food is always on point and the drinks fantastic. Dessert is a MUST, especially the cheesecake. Everything I've eaten has tasted fresh and high-quality. I like that some dishes stay the same and some rotate seasonally. I thought I was in the wrong area (they changed the location of the front entrance since the last time we were there). No apologies for the wait just "go ahead and sit at table 34". Bad start. The special was "sushi grade salmon" on bread with avocado, this was DEFINITELY NOT sushi grade. It was fishy tasting with skin still attached, I paid the price for eating this 45 minutes later. The icing on the cake was the services was low grade from the start and you are forced to leave a 20% tip!?!?!? Since when is low grade service worth 20%?!?!? I understand many businesses are understaffed and wait times are longer but no one communicated that 1 drink and 1 entree for 2 people was going to take an hour and 45 minutes to receive and pay for nor did anyone acknowledge the wait. Later I saw the receipt and realized I tipped on top of the automatic gratuity. Due to the quality of service I called to see if it could be corrected since it was same day. Whoever answers the phone was understandably busy and told me she'd call me back so I expected a manager or someone that would be processing the payment would be calling back. All three waters were bone dry for 10 minutes before we had to flag the waitress down. She finally brought us warm tap water. We see sign on the table that a 20 percent gratuity would be included on the bill. So all three of us ordered fish tacos. At $22 a plate you would think that you might receive 3 tacos (like most places) instead of 2. Took a super long time to get them. They were tasty but more like a $22 appetizer. Food: 3 stars - bland or dominated by a single flavor. All was cooked well, but when the drinks are complex with layers of flavor the food needs to be as well. I came to Bluewater on a date night with hubster, eagerly looking forward to a top notch quality experience in Everett. And while Bluewater did not disappoint me overall, it did not become the date night spot I had been hoping for. First off, the drinks are bloody awesome and this is why you come here. You come here to be seduced by delicious booze. And if you come for this reason, you will be pleased. You will be seduced. Then you order off the menu and, if you are a haughty food snob like me, you're like, "Oh. They are focusing on drinks." or, "Oh. This is kinda meh." Mind you, none of the food is BAD, but when a Cubano is described to you as flavorless and your own meal is just singularly flavored it reflects, in my opinion, boredom or lack of experience in the kitchen. All this is compounded by the cumin flavored quesadilla. I'm half Mexican, and I'm here to tell you the food of my ancestors was never flavored with cumin. Not salsa, not beans, not ANYTHING. Neither on the coast nor the inland have I tasted cumin as a main flavor in Mexican food. So I always grit my teeth a little and take deep breaths when I run into it. This is my personal issue though. That said, the quesadilla was cumin flavored and my clams were bacon flavored and I gotta wonder if the kitchen needs some lessons on layering flavors from the bartenders. Our server was so awesome. She told me to alter my drink a bit so it would be more compatible with the food I ordered and she was spot on. She was fun and friendly and I'd come back just to visit her. So will we return? Sure. The drinks are worth it. I have new expectations about the food (it tastes like food in Everett - this is the suburbs, my child) and walking in with these new expectations will afford me an opportunity to be pleasantly surprised if the kitchen is having an off night or in some kind of transition. But if this is the norm, I recommend the owner invest in revamping the flavors behind the scenes so they match what's happening at the bar and we can enjoy a cohesive experience. read more

First time going since pandemic. You have to stand outside in line to order food/drink. We were sat outside, no umbrella. Super hot, wouldn't let us inside because we didn't live in same household. Then had to stand in line again if you wanted anymore food or drink. Then once finished had to again stand in line again 20 minutes to pay in hot sun. Once inside to pay I saw a party of 15 at least who obviously were not in the same household. When we received bill they added 20% for no service. Super chaotic, inconsistent, stressful and unenjoyable experience. Won't be back until I hear they are doing things differently. read more
