We waited 5 minutes for my building to reserve the elevator but after that, they wanted to do a walkthrough even though I had to submit a list of everything. Fine. The walkthrough took 10 minutes and they said they'd be back with equipment to move however as you can see in the photos, we were waiting 20+ minutes for them to come back up to start. I didn't need much moved and yet it took over 3 hours to load the truck. The storage unit was two buildings down the block and it then took them 10+ minutes to get there. They weren't aware but we were watching them the entire time as they did nothing. Then after arriving at the storage unit they abruptly told me that I have to pay upfront before unloading and hit me with a $900+ bill based on their estimation of how long it'll take to offload. Their response was to talk to Jace (some guy on the phone) while the clock is running and they're getting paid regardless. Jace wasn't helpful at all as I explained the situation and my frustration with this process and the promotion that was mentioned but never offered. I left this experience feeling robbed and frustrated with the lackluster effort of Alan and his driver and I wouldn't recommend their services to anyone. I trusted their rating when I selected them over others but hopefully my experience will prevent a similar situation for someone else. I have timestamps in the screenshots purposely for you to be the judge.

IF you're looking for a storage place to store stuff. DO YOUR RESEARCH and know what you're going…read moreto get. I have been a customer at Safeguard Self Storage in Lyons, IL for around 7 years so I have seen it all. I've seen managers come and go. I've seen doors get hit and take a month to get repaired. I've seen doors just break and take months to get repaired. I've seen managers park their car in the drive in bay. I've also heard from an old manager that the employees at the locations have no control over temperatures in the facility as a company in Florida took it over. I've pretty much seen it all, but there is more to it. When covid, rents were frozen in residential places since working was hard for most people. At Safeguard they continued to increase rent throughout covid. My units alone saw 2 increases during it of at least 10%. This past year they renovated some areas of their building including the main office and changing out the fire extinguisher. When it came to installing the new fire extinguisher boxes there was no notification from them about cutting into customers units. In one go, I had two units cut into with boxes and paper on the other side of the metal. Sparks from the grinder could've started my stuff on fire. For a month after, I could not close one of my units properly. It took them multiple complaints to fix the issue. Shortly after this happened I got a letter of increase on two of my units. I spoke to the manager, at the time, about this and due to my units getting cut. Over the phone, she told me one of my units would see the increase and the other would not. This was back in June and we are now almost in October. Even after multiple inquiries about this they have not corrected the issue nor have they acknowledged this. One of the biggest issues I've had besides this was the temperatures. Their units are supposed to be climate controlled and is publicly stated on their website to be "Heated and air conditioned units." The temperatures this past summer have been the absolute worst they have ever been in 7 years. Even on days that it was 64 degrees out, in the morning, the units were 75 degrees with a humidity of 50%. This means that they have their units programmed to stay around 75 degree and it rarely goes below that, especially during the day. I have even spoke to the Regional Vice President about this. In one email (attached as photo), He claims that this has how it's always been throughout my stay at their facility, but in prior years the temperature next went above 70-72 degrees during the summer and in the winter never went below 58 (which in reality is super cold). In his email he also states "These spaces do not provide consistent internal temperature or humidity control." If they do not provide consistent temperatures then how come they are moreso consistently at 75 degrees with the off chance that it changes +/- 2 degrees? This is caused by the temperature being set at a certain temperature. With the temperatures being set to not really go below 75 degrees shows that they are not really climate controlled or even heated/cooled. I have even been told via a phone call with Kevin that their units are "heated/cooled" for the items being stored and not for the people coming into their facility whether it's a potentially new client or one thats been here for years. While also being told "Also, we have had no other customers that have complained about the temperature settings." How are customers supposed to know the exact temperature of the units since the company doesn't publicly display it on each floor? They won't unless they buy a device like I did. Being in there for 2 minutes would cause you to sweat instantly. They literally do not care about their customers or the items you have stored in your units. All they care about is increasing your rent and earning more money, even during the covid pandemic. Even their employees hate going up to units as they know how humid it is in there and they stay in the offices 99% of the time where it's actually air conditioned. They even agree that it's ridiculous how the temps are up there, but they aren't able to do anything about it. So they just sit there without saying anything and taking home checks.

Which is why I am here: to yell my praises from digital mountain tops! I was (very generously) gifted an early Christmas present from my mom of a full day/organizing session with M2O... AND IT WAS THE BEST GIFT I EVER RECEIVED! It is truly the gift that keeps on giving. **Hint hint, people- Christmas is less than 3 weeks away, if you are struggling for ideas. ;-) Schae and Britney were spectacular! They rolled into my place like two boss ladies ready to get down to business (but not in a scary way lol)! They put on a fun playlist and took charge, which is what I like and needed. They let me help (obviously not required, but desired on my part to learn) and taught me helpful tips and tricks along the way to maintain the organization. Best of all, they knew how to prioritize my projects in the order that made most sense, and maximized efficiency and my time with them. Not a minute wasted and no stone (aka leftover crap I didn't need anymore) left unturned! AND, like, how helpful and convenient it is that they haul away as many donations for you as they can when they leave?! At the end of the day (literally), I had the best nights sleep that I'd had in years, knowing that there was (finally!) a place for everything and everything in its place. Not only did M2O grant me peace of mind, they motivated me to keep going and see what I can accomplish on my own with what I learned from them. And the productivity levels on all the DIY projects I've set aside over the years are through the roof! My home is, now, finally the way I want and need it to be- it is first and foremost, my sanctuary. Thanks to M2O! But don't worry, I would never claim to be a 'Master Organizer' like them though- there are still some projects that seem just too overwhelming to undertake myself...like where do I even start?! SO, I've already booked my next session with them. Can't wait for Round 2!

It's our first time using this kind of service and Mackenzie, Chloe, Brittany, Mary and Melanie have officially spoiled us for all moves to come. Our home brings us so much joy now.

IN A VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER…read more You can find great rates at this vehicle rental service, just bring plenty of patience with you. For my 7/15/18 move, I knew I'd need a cargo van to transport all of my sh*t to my new place with Nichole C. I considered Enterprise, though their rental rates were cuh-razy expensive in comparison to U-Haul's $19.99/day. Saving money made sense to me. The biggest struggle I faced was the first one: how to enter their lot. This U-Haul is ONLY accessible via Harrison St, and the turn-in is right next to a traffic light off of Harlem Ave, so you could get hung up for quite a while. That's bad enough, but..... ......their property is a dead end. That means everyone who enters has to exit the same way. When you get a half dozen inbound civilian cars mixed up with half a dozen outbound giant moving trucks, you wind up with a congested vehicular nightmare. Yikes. Once inside, the employees tried to work through the long line of customers as quickly as possible. They didn't have time for pleasantries, though, as their attitudes were a bit gruff. I didn't mind, I got all my paperwork processed fast. Making a rez online was painless and even though I returned the van a couple hours later than anticipated, I didn't get charged for the extra time, so that was nice. Dropping off the keys was a cinch. * TL;DR * How can you go wrong with a $20 cargo van (plus mileage)? If you keep a cool head on moving day, you can benefit from a great deal at this U-Haul. Should you decide to rent here, be careful when coming in and leaving.

All along in our communications with the MOVER (Best Price Moving & Storage) we were assured we were only going to be charged for ACTUAL Cubic Feet utilized and not ESTIMATED. At the time of pick up in Chicago it was REPRESENTED we were using 2,000 Cu Ft of space. And were told we needed to pay the difference*approximately 665 Cubic ft extra. When the truck arrived for delivery, it was packed to under 1,150 Cu Ft of space. A SIGNIFICANT difference of approximately 850 Cu Ft. You can view pictures I took upon arrival of our delivery truck. When I went on the truck to take the pictures the movers asked why I was taking pictures and he answered his own question with "are you not agreeing with the Cubic Footage charged. This tells me this is a common practice in the moving industry and does not comply with any standard of good business practices. This is the difference of being charged for 2000 cubic feet on only using 1150 square. This difference is the 850 Cu Ft X $3.30 $2,805 plus 12% Fuel Surcharge on our Cu Ft by $336 = $3186. WE were over charged $3186. We reported to the company, and the said they would get back to us. Nobody contacted us and every time we called the disconnected us or put us into someone's voices mail. If I could give negative star, I would. This is the absolute worst moving company that I have used. I have reported them to the BBB.
