I used blueline Movers today, for the third time. I must say, I'm always impressed by their courtesy, attention to detail, and resourcefulness. After using other movers in the past, i expected everything possible to be bungled, my furniture to be damaged, and to be overcharged. Blueline is not cheap like the other guys, but you totally get what you pay for. Every piece of furniture is carefully packed and transported, and even moved into your desired position. Moving sucks, but the guys Blueline has sent to help me out over the years have made it A LOT easier. Today they came with a gigantic truck, since I had space to park it, moved my stuff at an efficient pace, climbed three flights of stairs without complaints, and even took a large cabinet over to my sister's house for me when it didn't fit in my apartment. Highly recommended. read more

TERRIBLE. RIP OFF. The movers were nice enough, but the management was HORRIBLE. First of all, they sent the wrong crew for the job: a fourth floor walk-up (no elevator!) move would require two guys who are in shape and capable of running up and down 3 flights of stairs. Nope. Instead, they sent me one young capable guy and one very overweight guy incapable of handling those stairs on his best day. Again, they were nice, but let's be real. They were supposed to show up at 8 am, no one answered when I called...they finally called at 9, showed up at 9:30. It took them 5 hours to load the truck with a ONE BEDROOM, 450 sq. foot apartment! One guy kept telling me that I had more stuff than I told them about. The online form they provide is flawed, however. For example, they ask if you have a kitchen, but not how many kitchen boxes. (Don't know about you, but I packed my kitchen stuff in, you guessed it, boxes!) I also clearly stated that I had an art studio, including supplies. That would be more boxes, guys! I was originally quoted 3 hours (including travelling time) at $237. In the end, I had to tell them when I ran out of money because it went up to $700! Do the math. That's more than TWICE what they quoted me. I don't know many people who carry that kind of money around, do you? I had to spend all of my savings. When I reached my financial limit, they called management who told them to LEAVE MY BELONGINGS ON THE CURB! Never mind that they took so long to load the truck or that they went so far over my quote. I've moved about a dozen times in the last 15 years. If you live in the city, you know this is normal. I have NEVER taken so long to move, without professional help. I could've rented a UHAUL for less than $100 and none of the stress. Did I mention that I had to help them myself? Even though I was PAYING THEM? I even bought them coffee and pizza because we were all super hungry after a 5-hour loading. And how many of my belongings were broken and damaged during the move? Plenty...Geez...I've never broken anything when I moved myself. The management never contacted me to find out what happened, nor do they care (obviously). The big guy, while nice enough, kept asking me if I was going to complain about him because he said that people often accused him of intimidation and that they took too long. Well, he just gave it away! This obviously happens often when he's on a job. NEVER AGAIN. That's all I have left to say. read more

Now keep in mind I used them in the fall of 2006, so things could have changed. BUT this was by far the worst moving experience I've ever had. Total nightmare. They were an hour late (this was when I was living on Marlborough St in Back Bay and moving 1.5 blocks over to Comm Ave in Back Bay - VERY easy to find both locations as it's BUILT ON A FRICKIN GRID). Not to be rude, as I don't care what my movers look like, but it was clear 2 of the 3 men were VERY out of shape. They were sweating profusely within the first 10 minutes and proceeded to leave lasting, disgusting sweat stains on some of my covered furniture. They were rude, did not listen to me or my roommate at the time, and felt that they knew everything. They quoted us for a 4 hour, 3 man job (reasonable because we did have a decent amount of furniture for 2 people moving from a 3 BR to a 2 BR). They managed to get out of the first apartment in a decent amount of time. My roommate and I piled into her car and drove a few breakable things on our own to our new place, 1.5 blocks and less than 5 minutes away (hitting 3 stoplights on the way). And we waited...and waited...and waited. After a half hour of the truck not TURNING THE CORNER, we called the moving company headquarters. Only to be told that the truck was "around the corner." I will never forget my then-roommate yelling into the phone, "I can SEE my OLD APARTMENT from my NEW APARTMENT and THERE IS NO TRUCK." What happened? The movers assured us they knew where they were going...and proceeded to leave Back Bay and go all the way to Brighton, out by the BU/BC area of Comm Ave. They were gone, with ALL of our furniture for over an hour. Once they finally called us back and explained where they were, we were FURIOUS and demanded they come back to our second apartment and finish the job. They did...after a lunch break (fine, we weren't going to starve them or anything) but they were well behind schedule. All in all, the move took 6.5 hours, and that isn't including the 2 hour lunch break/getting lost/stuck in Sept 1 traffic time that they wasted. We were FURIOUS that we were underquoted, stuck with lazy and out of shape movers who left sweat stains and scuff marks on lots of our furniture, who didn't listen to us/were too arrogant to ask about the location of the second apartment, and ended up taking double the time they quoted us to move. I will NEVER use them again and would warn everyone away from them. Worst customer experience ever and I'm still scarred from movers because of this! I could have easily used a wonderful but pricey company like Gentle Giant because I ended up paying that much for double the time and not even 1/100,000 of the professionalism. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! read more

After calling around for a few price quotes from places advertised on Craigslist, I found that the hourly rate for Blueline was the most reasonable, though they do have a 3 hour minimum. The two guys were due to arrive at my place at 8AM, and when they didn't show by 8:25AM, I called the main office to talk to the owner. I don't know what the owner said when he called the movers, but about two minutes later, I got an apologetic call from the movers, saying that they'd arrive shortly. The guys showed up, good natured and friendly, and began to move my things. Within 30 minutes they had everything moved into the truck and ready to go. Granted, I had everything packed and organized for them, and maybe it was because it was still early in the morning, but they were wonderfully energetic and efficient. Once we got to Beacon Hill, we had a little bit of a hairy situation because they could not park directly in front of my apartment, and it was a one-way street, so they had to work very quickly to avoid the dumpster truck that was slowly but surely creeping up the street. The only minus to my experience with Blueline would be the fact that there was a 3 hour minimum, and my move only took 1.5 hours, including the driving time from Coolidge Corner to Beacon Hill. I should have had the boys drive me back to Coolidge Corner, considering that I paid for 3 hours of their time, but I thought it might be a little awkward to catch a ride with two movers in an empty van, so I took the T back instead. Bonus: As Luke mentioned, the boys were cute! The guys that came to help me move were named Wes and Seb (I think), and they were extremely friendly. My annoyance at their lateness melted when I saw them. Former college soccer players = hotness. =D read more

Our family just completed our 4th move in 10 years - 3rd in the last year and a half, and found working with the folks at Blueline a breeze. Super reasonable rates, responsible people, great communication, and just damned nice. A completely refreshing change from other companies I've worked with, no attitude, no BS - just solid hardworking guys and one big truck! We had no problem leaving a key with them to lock up / close up and so on - so add trustworthy to the list of positives. While mentioning the positives it reminds me that there were zero negatives. Feel free to contact me through Yelp for a personal reference -as I'm serious, and not somehow 'related' to the company or the employees. read more

Showed up 1.5 hours late..."someone's car broke down". Okay - these things happen from time to time. Broke key off in lock when attempting to access the back of the truck to start loading. Okay - this is pushing it a little bit. After waiting for a locksmith for TWO MORE HOURS, the loading began. Upon reaching our new home, they proceeded to break three pieces of furniture AND cause numerous areas of damage to our brand new wood floors! The owner (?), Phil, then took it upon himself to tell me, "Well, you're gonna put a runner there anyway...". My response, "Are you a mover or an interior decorator?" When I pointed out to him that a leg had broken off a small, freestanding bathroom cabinet - he said, "You can saw all the legs off an it will be good as new..." ARE YOU KIDDING ME? When it came time to settle up, he was going to knock ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS off for the delays and damages. Again, ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Needless to say, I was NOT going to accept this. Phil, the owner (?), then proposed $200. By this point, I just wanted them to leave - so I cut a check and sent them on their way. Never ever again will I deal with Blueline Movers. Talk about the pinnacle of unprofessionalism and just plain and simple 'not caring'. read more

Us: "Please do not lift this marble-top credenza from the edge of the marble, as it will break." Blueline Idiot (doing exactly what we said not to do): "You mean like this?" And, snap, off comes the corner of the marble top. Us: "I can't believe you just did that." Blueline Idiot: "heh, heh." Me (to my GF): "They are moving your things, but I would fire them, now." We were in a bind, so she continued with the move. Blueline tried to weasel out of paying anything above the pitiful by-weight compensation, finally sending a bare-minimum check only after our lawyer contacted them. Our experience is that they are utterly incompetent boobs run by management of questionable principles. Do not use them. read more

i've never used a moving company, so i had no idea who to go with. i got quotes from gentle giant, isaac's, and a few others. after reading the great reviews on here, i also got a quote from blue line, as they sounded like a good deal. to my surprise, their quote was only slightly less (~$30) than the others. but, they had good reviews, and they're "starving musicians", so i decided to give them the job. i mean, i'm dating a drummer myself, so i know what it's like. now, i put up signs to block off the area in front of our new place in brookline. i was able to grab a huge space in front of my old place in allston. i did everything i could to make this easy. i'll admit i was slightly taken aback when 2 young men showed up to move us. based on reviews and their website, i expected older, more experienced guys to show up. but they got right to work, and it seemed to be going just fine. i was actually quite impressed by them at first. we had a 3.5 hour window, which should have been PLENTY of time, as we didn't have much to move (a one bedroom apartment MINUS a bed). yet they managed to run almost an hour over time, and that was with my boyfriend helping them to unload the truck at our new place. so, i was not very happy shelling out an extra $100, now making this move significantly more expensive than if i had gone with a more professional company. i have cheapish furniture, but that doesn't mean that i'm happy with all the scratches the managed to get on everything. at the end of the day, i was NOT happy with this company. but i withheld from writing a bad review. until today. since they decided after 3 MONTHS to cash my deposit. that's right, the cashed a $154 deposit check 3 months late, thus overdrawing my bank account, which i had an extra $200 in for this purpose up until last week. overall, i would say that blue line movers are unprofessional, and for $500 i would expect MUCH better work to be done faster and WITHOUT my help! sure, the other companies might look more expensive up front, but in the end they would have saved me money and headaches. read more

This review is an average -- I used Blue Line for a move a few years ago, and they were fantastic, did a great job getting things into my apartment despite some crazy stairs and some big pieces of furniture. Five stars for that move. So when I had to move again this fall, I called them first -- but didn't hear anything. They got back to me a couple of weeks later, and I'd already hired someone else, but I needed some help packing. So, I hired them to send packers for a few hours the week before my move. The guys they sent -- who I think they subcontracted from another moving company, since their shirts listed *that* name -- were pleasant, but the guy working on my dining room was incredibly slow, and ignored my specific instructions about packing certain things separately so I could find them. The kitchen guy packed stuff with absolutely no logic whatsoever -- different parts of the same appliance in three boxes, food packed under utensils, etc. It took me ages to find everything -- although everything was intact. Two stars on the packing job. So not sure what happened -- they were once very good, but I don't think I'd call them again. read more

Blueline Movers were amazing! They called to give us an ETA ahead of time, showed up on time, Justin and David were hot, Hot, HOT, they were really efficient, professional, funny, strong, smart, helpful, everything I've come to NOT expect from a moving company. We chose Blueline based on other reviewers from Yelp and also that their quote was one of the most reasonable around. Gentle Giant can suck one. They wanted three times as much for what I'm sure we wouldn't have gotten from Justin and David. I hope the water, Gatorade and tip helped make up for the crates with the books in them... thank you again for making our move so perfect! read more

Very good and careful movers. Seem to be trustworthy. The only reason I didn't grade them at five stars was because they were a little late getting to our home on moving day. Otherwise they were excellent! read more

I gave them 1 star as it does not let you select a zero. Stay AWAY! Horrible company with non-standard equipment, unprofessional staff and owner with poor attitude and zero concern for the client. I totally understand that one's experience with moving companies in large measure depends on the quality of the crew. In some instances when a crew is sub-standard the experience could still be considered good if the management is willing to make the client happy. This is NOT the case at Blueline! My whole experience was horrible from start to finish! What went wrong: * Lack of confirmation of service. * Last minute delay of service * One of the crew appeared stoned. If not stoned then slow and dumb... not sure which one is worse * Non-standard height truck. Forcing clients to make additional un-planned trips * Zero concern from the ownership. No attempt to make the situation right. * Running up the meter during the travel time. 60 minutes to travel 10.6 miles Stay away from this company! read more

What a great experience I had with Blueline! Phil worked with me to properly estimate the cost of the move over the phone. His moving guys (Nate and Dave) were fast, careful with our most delicate pieces, and friendly and professional throughout the entire move. We had to make an intermediate stop between Cambridge and Needham and the guys at Blueline accommodated our special request. Dave was very professional in speaking with me and always made sure everything was planned properly. Two big thumbs up! read more

I used them for a move from Jamaica Plain to Somerville, they were great. Rates are more than reasonable, and the movers were fast, professional, and very friendly. They're accomodating, too: I scheduled my move at the last minute (called on a wednesday, moved on a saturday), and I didn't get a parking permit, so I asked them to use a smaller van, so they could find a place to park on my narrow, snowed-in street, and they did. The job ended up taking 2 trips (which I expected), but they never slowed down or showed any signs of complaint or anything. They do prefer cash, which as far as I know they don't tell you until the day before the move, so try to have that handy. I couldn't get to an ATM in time, but they were cool about it, they took my check. However, it's been about two and a half weeks, and they still haven't cashed it, which I guess is a little annoying, so make sure you balance your checkbook. As far as the move itself though, they were top notch. I'll probably use them again for my next move. read more

My wife and I hired Blueline Movers for our most recent move. These guys were great. They arrived a little bit late (about 25 minutes), but very efficient getting stuff out of our old apartment. They also took great care with everything. All in all, these guy were very efficient, nice, and professional. Plus---the price quote from these guys was much, much lower than the "big name" moving companies in the area. We would definitely use these guys again. read more

Blueline was a pleasure. I've had numerous moves; both domestic and international and Blueline has moved to the top of the list of moving companies I have engaged over the years. Prompt, professional and friendly service was provided with a smile (even when the washer/dryer proved to be a challenge :o). My numerous (and heavy :o) goods and furniture arrived safely, unmarred and the job came in under the time/cost estimate which was a pleasant experience. The #1 reason I would use Blueline again in future is the fact that as a single disabled female I felt completely safe being alone with their moving team - an experience I did not have with another "larger" Boston area moving company during my last move. I highly recommend Blueline. read more

Awesome experience - Phil and Pat were prompt, friendly, knowledgeable and hard working. They offered me a lot of suggestions that made the pretty tiring process of moving a lot easier. Additionally I moved in to a very old home which presented challenges getting modern furniture through the doors. Phil went above and beyond to find a solution that got me in and set up in no time. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them! read more

I had to move in a hurry and didn't have much time to compare quotes. Blueline said they could squeeze me in and said they'd give me a discount if I could be ready in an hour. When they arrived, they were 2 very young men who were nice enough. I didn't have much to move, and we were done in a little over an hour. That's when they told me their minimum is 3 hours, at $119 an hour. To me, they are extremely over priced, even for the Boston area. When I had to move again I was able to find movers for $70/hour. I'll never use Blueline again. read more

Avoid this company! We will start with the two "movers" that were assigned the job each time they came into the house with the boxes they made it loud and clear that this should of been a 4 person job ( side note I had spoken to the owner about the job and he recommended 3 people he was the 3rd person but did not do a thing). They got testy with me when I asked them to move 1/2 the couch upstairs and flat out told me no! Towards the "end" of the move they left 10 plus boxes that were clearly labeled 3rd floor at the bottom of the stairs. After I discovered this I went up to my bedroom to move some stuff around and say that they broke the foot of my 2 month old dresser, the best part.... they position the dresser so I wouldn't know. After 1 week of trying to reach the company/owner (with no luck) I went to Facebook (were the company was recommended to me) to post about my experience, the wife of the company deleted my post and made it clear that Rowley was a small town and she is sure she will see me around. I hope this post helps someone avoid the headache. read more

This was my personal experience: I hired this company to move my belongings in an 8 room house to a 9 room house that was 30 miles away. I had thousands of dollars of damage to my furniture and new home as a result of the work by this company. They tore my rarely used white living room leather sofa; they lost the legs to another sofa so it is useless as it has the outside legs but not the middle legs; they broke every drawer in two bedroom sets including 2 bureaus, 2 chest of drawers, and 2 night stands (30 drawers). Received two estimates to have these fixed and they were about the same: $1200. I had to pay to have them fixed as the furniture was useless without working drawers and the furniture is nice. It took the repair person 3 full days to do the work. They also lost the hardware for both mirrors for the dressers which meant the repair person had to reinvent something. The furniture repair people could not believe a professional mover did this. The movers took 15 hours to do something that should have been done in 5. They advertise as three men and a truck but the owner claims he did not do any heavy lifting because he was the foreman--the foreman who lost parts and broke items while he directed the two young men, one of whom was in high school. In my new home, there were scuff marks and dents in the wall where the furniture being moved in was banged against the wall; I have not even inquired about fixing the walls yet. I checked the Yelp reviews at the end of their work in my home and talked to the owner about his reviews. The owner was trying to put things together at the end of the move and could not find so many missing parts--so much for the "foreman" doing his job. I blame myself for not checking reviews more closely because I had plenty of time. And by the way, he quoted a total price of $700-800 but sent a $1500 bill beyond the down payment for $300. I have sent him pictures of some of the damage (I have more pics) and asked if he knows where the hardware or leg to a furniture piece might be. I asked many times (and have the emails to prove it) about the damage, requesting the name of his insurance company, but he has failed to respond. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau. read more

Great experience -- professional, courteous, good communication about shifting time frames and ETAs. Recommend!

I moved from Boston to Pittsburgh in late June. The movers (in their early 20s) arrived 1.5 hrs late. They did not pack two whole closets nor would they come back to get what they had left (including golf clubs, and all my porcelain cookware. Because it was not package properly all the servingware broke. There was over $1000 of damages, for which I submitted a claim to Blueline. Since then I have sent over 8 emails and made 5 calls to the company - but they will not respond. Now I have to file with Better Business Bureau and Massachesetts court to try and recover the damages. I highly recommend you pick another company for your move. read more

Stay away from this company if you want to keep your diamonds. We noticed a diamond ring and a gold ring were missing 2 hours after the movers departed. Blueline moved two heavy couches for me today. The two young men who did the move called me to apologize for being a few minutes late (they arrived 15 minutes after the time specified). These guys were fantastic and really helped me out. My original mover didn't show up on Saturday and Phil at Blueline organized a team of 3 guys and a truck for 8:30am Sunday morning even though i didn't call him until 2pm on Saturday. The guys that came were careful with my things, very respectful and worked incredibly hard (they never stopped) for the 7 hours of the move. I have waited exactly a year to write this review. I have moved across the country twice, as well as 3 moves in Texas, and this Newburyport to Rowley move was an absolute debacle. Never had we had anything more than a dish or mirror broken and these guys managed to break an antique china cabinet (which like the poster above states, Phil offered a "solution". By offereing to glue it together. They broke a hallway table and haggled on price to replace it. Then I discovered one of his "leaders" colored, yes COLORED the nicks they put into my daughter's bed with a wood colored...which didnt match the actual wood...marker. When he suggested doing it I told him NO. And he did it anyway. A couple of days before the move, out of a 4 BR, 3 BA house, Phil came over to assess the size of a truck he sent. He knew of everything he needed to back, break down, and put back together. He knew the worth of these goods, as we spoke of them. His crew was late with excuse after excuse. The "lead" guy just kept yelling at the guys and blaming the guys "who didn't know what they were doing", while breaking a piece of my kitchen table leg, which we had to rig to work until we replace it. The guys packed the truck in so tight, which is fine, but broke numerous pieces of furniture. Then, and this was such a joke, they couldn't fit everything we had into the truck and told me I had to move it myself. ARE YOU KIDDING ME???!!!! I called Phil and finally he agreed to come up with a second truck to load the rest of it and told me that typically that would cost me another $250. I asked "Why?" and he said because we would have to unload and drive back, load more, and then the mileage (5 miles keep in mind) would cost money. How about, you looked at every area in my house and knew what was going and you sent the wrong size truck. Beofre the truck had ever left my house, the movers broke an ikea dresser. Phil and his "lead" guy both said, "well it's particle board, its bound to break". Nothing was done about that. I had to junk it. THEY BROKE IT AND NOT EVEN AN APOLOGY! So, these guys were unloading a fold out couch and dropped it on my brand new front steps. This house had been finished (new contruction) a month before we moved in. Phil had no apology and marker guy colored in the nicks. We demanded he replace the board in the stair and he said he couldn't find a replacement and then said the wood was cheap and would ware anyway. We continued to demand a fix and he bought an unmatched piece of what he deemed better wood and left it ($11 was it's cost). He did not see it as an issue. This is a $700K house and he didn't think it was a big deal. We demanded fixes to the cabinet and replacement to the table. When he came back to our house to again tell us he was not responsible and gave us ways to live with his guys' mistakes, he saw that my husband had been drinking a beer. He then, as we were trying to unpack the kids' rooms, started yelling (in our new neighborhood) how my husband was a drunk and belligerent. Like the poster above, I got to the point where I just wanted him out of my life and never to come back. We paid the $1300 move fees and he cut a check for $100 to cover the table and make sure we didn't file a claim with his insurance company (which would have been a longer process and cost him more). Well, now we are at today. After a year of my daughter sleeping in her crib (she is now 3), we were taking it apart to convert it into a toddler bed. His guys completely broke it, and just rigged it to stay in place. We are foold for not inspecting it, but even if we had, he wouldn't have helped us out. This bed was a small fortune $600, and now it is useless for two of it's intended uses (crib and toddler bed). Luckily we had the runners for a full size bed, which my husband is putting together as I type, but we now, on a Sunday, have to find a full sized mattress to beh ere for bed time. This is an absolute mess and has caused so much frustration for my family. This company is not friendly when things they cause to happen are acknowledged. Phil, the owner, puts the blame back on homeowners. I know this man from being a preschool parent where my kids go to school. We live two streets away from each other. You would have thought he would have taken care of a mom who is very active in the community, as well as a fellow Rowley resident. He was the most unprofessional person to work with and his staff was even worse. Please stay clear. read more

Horrible experience ! My daughter used this company for her move within Boston on September 1st. She unfortunately struck out with renting a truck and found this company last minute (something that I was shocked about at first but now understand why there was availability). To begin, I understand that most moving companies send you a confirmation three days in advance but from the day she booked her move to the day of the move it was IMPOSSIBLE to get in touch with Phil and if he did get back to you he was no help. The day of her move they said that they would be there at 730 am and you would think that because they knew it was a big moving day in the area that they would plan accordingly- THEY WERE 3 HOURS LATE and did not communicate about how close or far they were. Best part ? She was told that they hit traffic by Phil but the other mover must have not gotten the memo about this little lie because the other mover said there was none. In other words, try all that you can to find another company. read more
