I had an amazing facial by Samantha! My favorite part was the pressure while massaging my décolleté, shoulders, and face. I fell asleep during the ultraviolet light, but that was after several cleansing and moisturizing massages to the face. I'm not a huge review writer unless a serious impact was made. I was blown away with how much I loved this place after just one visit. My boyfriend got me a gift certificate to Blue Tangerine. We just moved to the Sacramento area and don't know where much of anything is yet. But he found this place online and it looked good to him. Good job! I booked my hot stone massage online. It was super easy to set up and because of the system they use I can go log on anytime and see my past appointments and set up new ones. I had never had a hot stone massage before but it sounded really nice. My appointment was with Joy. I was greeted sweetly by her as I walked in the door and she offered me water. She took me back to the room and gave a brief but helpful explanation of what was going to happen and what oils and such she would use. Then left me to have privacy to get ready before she began. I come from the Napa Valley which has tons of day spas and such. Being IN the Valley they are all pretty pricey so I never had too many while living there. But I can honestly say that this was the BEST massage I've ever had. Joy was so sweet and gentle but just the right amount of pressure where it was needed. I was so relaxed and was able to just ENJOY it all. I felt so much better afterwards and even my boyfriend noticed my back felt SO much less tense. I will be definitely going back. I have been going to Samantha for my skin care and waxing needs for several years and continued to make the drive from Santa Rosa after re-locating from Sacramento because she is the BEST and I can't imagine anyone taking care of me like she does! She does my waxing and facials and has really helped to clear up my acne prone skin with her Skin Bella facial treatments (they are amazing)!! She is the only person I would let do my Brazillian wax and all of the friends I have sent to her have been immediately hooked! I thought about cutting out some of the extra services I have been getting due to the economy but the truth is going to Blue Tangerine Spa for the day is like having a "stay-cation"! It is such a beautiful, soothing oasis and all of the staff are so friendly and calm; you can't help feeling refreshed (like you've had a mini vacation) after treatments with them. I went to Blue Tangerine for a prenatal massage. I was just starting to look/feel like I was carrying some pregnancy weight and my body was ready for some pampering. The salon/spa is so clean and so nicely appointed. The overstuffed couches are lovely and the fixtures/furniture are very nice. Everything about it is calming, including the people who work there. Kristen, also pregnant (more pregnant than I) gave me my massage. It was great. She has a special massage table with two removable sections so that pregnant women can lay on their stomachs. What a great feeling after so many months of not being able to do this! She gave a wonderful massage and didn't chat during it, which really let me relax. I would love to go back, now that it has been a few months and many more pounds of extra stress on my body. I can't imagine how she can be giving such wonderful massages while being more pregnant that me, but I guess that's what her body is used to! I felt a little guilty, enjoying such a treat with her having to be on her feet, but she didn't seem to mind at all. Afterward we chatted it up on the couches with the aesthetician, who was also so friendly and warm. Perhaps I'll get to see her, too, when I can't shave my own legs :) The price is not unfair, but it is more than her regular massage by maybe 10$ - I think it was 75$ before tip - which ends up being generous because the service and ambiance overall was so wonderful! read more

I had heard of the Blue Tangerine and specifically Kristen through the yelp newsletter a few weeks ago. I am 7 months pregnant and had read reviews about Kristen giving great prenatal massages. I am so glad that I went! She took great care in making sure I was comfortable :). The spa itself is tucked away in what looks like a medical building with other offices. I normally do not go to spas. They are a very special trip for me. And this was my first time to this particular location. I believe I have found my perfect spot to get a massage. First, the price is incredibly reasonable for the standard Swedish massage compared to what you will find elsewhere. In terms of those chair massages at the mall it is basically the same. But this place is much better. The rooms are nice and clean. The table is comfortable to lay on. But the best part was the actual massage. I went for the 60 minute and I wished I had gone for the 90 minute instead. Not because I felt dissatisfied. But because I wanted it to continue on and on. Joy was amazing. Soft hands, soft fingers and a gentle touch. My muscles were relaxed and my body just drifted away into my imagination. I will make this a regular trip now, with longer massages and also maybe one or two other treatments. This is the place to go in Sacramento. read more

My friends got me a gift certificate for a mani/pedi as a going away gift for my move to Sacto. I stopped by to make an appointment and Samantha (who is so nice) let me know that the mani/pedi room is being remodeled (the spa is already beautiful, so I'm excited to go back and check out the remodel) so no go on the mani/pedi. Sam was nice enough to offer me a couple of other options if I didn't want to wait for the remodel and, lucky me, she had time on her schedule that day. I got the organic facial and, after an exhausting cross country move, it was the most relaxing thing ever. Samantha was also really helpful with recommendations for fun things to do around town. The Blue Tangerine Spa is in an unassuming medical office building. In fact, you might have a little trouble finding the place because there is no signage out front. It's tucked away in a suite, but once inside it's a really lovely little spa with a very welcoming feel. I had my first bikini wax, ever. I decided to make it a Brazilian wax, as in all-the-hair-removed, because frankly, I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. What you can expect: Samantha will show you the restroom. At first I was a little paranoid about using the facilities because I was worried about staying clean and pristine for the wax, but Samantha leaves wet wipes on the table in the treatment room for freshening up, so there was no need to be concerned. She asks you to totally undress from the waist down and offers a drape for the bikini area before she leaves the room. She also offered a drape for undressing totally if you so choose. This is to prevent you from sweating in your street clothes. Apparently some women sweat from the pain, but I knew that wouldn't be a problem for me so I elected to leave my shirt on. The actual wax is painful (duh) but Samantha is quick and efficient and even as a first-timer, I found the process to be relatively easy and fast. She also makes you feel totally comfortable, which was my main concern. She chats and explains the various waxes for different hair types and what I thought would be a very embarrassing ordeal was quite comfortable (mentally, anyway!). She preps the area with some type of oil and the begins waxing from the outside towards the middle. The middle is the most painful part, but she is very quick. Pre-trim for a less painful experience. She uses the "one-dip" method for the wax to keep it contaminant free. Also Samantha does not make her clients get on their hands and knees to have their bottoms waxed. She just had me hug my knees to my chest and that was it! Piece of cake and the very least painful part of the entire process. The website is not updated with current pricing and some of the preparation in not exactly what Samantha recommends. The no scream cream that the website recommends is actually ineffective for this treatment, according to Samantha. The out-of-date website is the only reason I am deducting one star. Samantha and The Blue Tangerine are fabulous, and I look forward to going back for another treatment, perhaps something a little more soothing, sometime very soon! read more

What a little hole in the wall place, but not in a bad way. The salon is tucked away in a tiny medical office building. The area is very quiet and clean unlike a busy strip mall or the hard to find parking spot place in mid or uptown. When I arrived, I was fortunate to catch a esthetician before she went in to see her next client to purchase my gift certificate. I was advised that next time I could just purchase it on line. The salon is quite lovely, small and casual elegant. A lovely light scent permeated the air. The gift certificate was for my pregnant sister in law and she loved the massage . I have been going to Samantha for my eyebrow waxing for a couple years and I absolutely love the service and attention she gives me! I have also had the Skin Bella treatment that she does and I can't say enough good things about how great my skin felt afterwards. I have had problems with acne for years and had tried so many different products, but nothing has helped as much as this. As a mom of two kids, my only pedicures had been the "nail shop in the strip mall" kind. While these are inexpensive, the place is usually packed and loud, with lots of indecipherable chatter. Scrub, paint, bam. You're outta there. My pedi at Blue Tangerine was relaxing and luxurious. What a treat! I was in a private mani/pedi room, with eggshell blue walls, elegant decorations, and quiet music playing in the background. There were other clients, but I could barely hear them. I got the Zero Gravity Pedicure which lasted for AN HOUR AND A HALF. I was completely pampered and plan on visiting again and again! read more

I'm really not the type of person to leave one star review but based on this situation my customer service experience was horrible. I found this business on yelp and was very excited because of how highly recommend it was. I simply wanted to purchase a online gift card for a special someone for a massage. Upon purchasing the gift card I notice that I wasn't charged for the purchase which wasn't a big deal. But after a week I notice my card still wasn't charged. I asked the recipient of the gift card if she had used the service and she informed me that she had called but was unable to have her call answered. So I decided to give it a try and call but was not answer as well. At this point I had the impression that the business either had closed down and never shut down its website or was on vacation. Two weeks after purchasing the gift card my purchase was finally charged to my account and I had decided to call and see if I could still use the service. So I called at the listed opening time of 10am and was once again unable to have my call picked up. After 2 or so hours of calling I finally decided to give up and called my bank to dispute the charges because I felt like I would never communicate with this business. An hour after calling my bank I received a call from an associate stating that there was no record of my order and that she called her bank to refund my purchase. She shortly hung up after that statement. My biggest issue regarding this incident was not based on the quality of work because I'm pretty sure the work is good, but the poor customer service and ability to schedule appointments over the phone. It was really an uncomfortable experience having your valentines gift look fraudulent. read more

After many years of hearing from friends about Blue Tangerine Spa, Samantha in particular, I finally went to get a facial. Well, it's been several years now and it is still the best facial anywhere. I drive up from Roseville to see Samantha. Not only is Samantha extremely knowledge on skin care and products, but she is extremely gentle. I always want to say nooooo, not the nice warm towel, because I know my tranquil luxurious treatment is almost over and my putty state body needs to move. It's the best!!! BTW...one of the things that sold me was watching one of Samantha's male clients walk out after his facial and his skin was literally glowing. I commented on my observation and Samantha said, yeah, he is a long time client. I knew then that I would also be a long time client. Blue Tangerine Spa is amazing! I just did the "Royal Blue Treatment" which included a 15 minute scalp treatment, 75 minute facial and a 90 minute massage and I left feeling rejuvenated and relaxed! Christella the masseuse is exceptional, but my favorite part was the facial. Samantha does a great job of relaxing you and making sure you get the full experience.
