Malloy Ford - Truck

I highly recommend Malloy Ford. Great experience from the start. Found a truck online and Renee…read morereached out to me and made this a smooth process. Answered all questions I had and sent me pictures of the truck. She came in on her day off so we could look at and test drive it. Eventually ended up buying it the same day. From the minute we got to the dealership we felt very welcomed and comfortable. She let us test drive it as a family. When we got back I had a couple questions and concerns so she grabbed her manager and he worked with us. Financing was easy as well. Friendly staff. Offered us water and coffee while we waited for the paperwork to start. We had a couple questions and another guy stepped in to help us on financing.

On the morning of the appointment, I specifically confirmed that the vehicle was ready and was told it had been "pulled up" for me. I then advised that I would arrive around 11:00 AM after making a 1.5-hour journey. While already travelling, I was asked whether I wanted to leave a deposit to hold the vehicle. I declined, explaining that I intended to inspect the vehicle properly and arrange an independent inspection before making a final decision. When I arrived, I was told the vehicle was unavailable because another customer was test-driving it, going through paperwork, and had first refusal. I was then asked if I wanted to wait. I declined and left. What disappointed me most was that I had specifically asked to be informed if anything changed regarding the vehicle's availability before I made the trip. Had I been told the vehicle was with another customer, I simply would not have travelled. Shortly after leaving, I was informed that the vehicle was still available. I fully understand that dealerships have multiple interested buyers. What I found frustrating was travelling 1.5 hours based on a confirmed appointment, only to find the vehicle unavailable when I arrived. I also found it disappointing that despite several days of direct communication with the salesperson, arranging paperwork, financing, and the appointment itself, I never actually met the individual I had been dealing with. The vehicle may be excellent. Unfortunately, I never got the opportunity to find out. I expected a higher standard of professionalism, communication, and respect for a customer's time from an established dealership. Would I buy from Malloy Ford of Charlottesville after this experience? No.

My husband and I recently moved from the DC metro area to Charlottesville and after only a month we realized that it didn't make sense for us to have two cars since I walk to work and that we'd ultimately rather sell mine. I was nervous about the whole process and the paperwork involved especially since I had over 2 years left on the loan, the car was registered in Maryland (and in my maiden name) and the registration was set to expire in a few weeks. The staff at CarMax could not have been more pleasant, helpful, and kind to me. They explained what extra paperwork I'd need handy to make the process smooth and I got more money than I expected to get for my car (the best news!). We ended up having to go back a second time since I was missing my marriage certificate (to prove why the name on my title was different than on my Driver's License) but it was such an incredibly easy process. They also were not pushy at all trying to get me a car to buy that day (something I was also concerned about). I only had to explain once that we were trying to downsize to a single car and they never asked about it again. My husband and I had such a positive experience selling we are already thinking that we'll be back in a few years to trade in his car when the time comes to buy a new one and we may buy from them because of how positive the experience was.

I was told the repair…read morewould take 5 days so I brought it in on a Friday (with appointment) so they could start 1st thing Monday. I didn't think it would be a problem as I had rental coverage on my auto insurance policy. After 10 days I was informed that a part was on back order until the end of the month (15 more days) by which time my rental coverage was exhausted. I couldn't drive the car without the back-ordered part & I needed a vehicle, so rental continued out of pocket. After a week the part was received and installed. When I picked up my vehicle, I was not satisfied with the repair. I wasn't willing to continue the rental out of pocket, so I took it home to await the availability of a loaner. Three weeks later, still no word. After a couple of attempts to reach out, no response. The last attempt, I was told the estimator was at lunch, to call back in an hour. I called back an hour later and was told that he had just walked out the door for lunch, to call back in an hour. I called back an hour later, they didn't see him at his desk nor in the lot, "he must have walked to the building next door". They took my name and number for him to call me when he got back. No word that day..... It has been 2 months since I first met with the estimator. Communication is horrid. I constantly feel as if I've fallen between the cracks or I've been completely forgotten. My only consolation is that I still have the 2-party check from the insurance company. Unsure how long they can float that expense.

I was impressed with the vehicles they had on hand, but I knew what I wanted from their website after I found the car on Autotrader. Everyone was friendly on site, from the Clay the salesman, to the support staff and the owner. I did my homework in advance, and we came to a price that I thought was satisfactory. They are asking fair prices to begin with, in line with the market, so I don't think it's worth spending a lot of time and energy to try and squeeze blood from a stone. If you want a nice used car and a good experience buying it, these are decent and fair people to work with. And if you buy, go to the Charlottesville Downtown Mall and get a meal while they're doing the paperwork. It's about a five minute drive, and you don't have to just spend the time waiting.

The owner is definitly in denial of the quality of his inventory and needs to work on consumer relations.

The reason being, to be quite frank, was the designs were not exactly what we had envisoned for our next car. The brand with the hamster car?! No way! But, due to this dealership's quintessential gold standard service on all fronts, we changed our minds. From the moment we entered the lot to the finalization of paperwork on the car... we were truly impressed with the business. During our time with Price Kia, we worked with two sales associates, the manager, and their finance team. Each individual was professional, patient, and very nice. Not once did we feel any pressure and everyone we encountered was friendly. In fact, we had initially planned to purchase a different vehicle altogether but because the sales associate and manager went above and beyond to work with us on a price point we could afford, our trade in, and took the time to follow up with us on a car exactly within those parameters we came back. I should also note that the manner in which the sales associate contacted us was pleasant; he simply left a voicemail letting us know a heads up, and allowed us to decide whether we wanted to return. Essentially we chose Price Kia because we felt we had been treated with respect and the dealership operated with integrity. We could not be happier with our purchase! I would highly recommend this dealership and the folks we worked with during our time there.
