I enjoy Blue Post as it's hidden, quiet and the drinks are reasonable. They also have pool tables, dartboards, skee ball, a jukebox, pinball, foos ball, hoops and Ms. Pac-Man. All 6 pinball machines were working tonight. Will def be coming back when James is here. If I lived in Wilmington, this bar would take all my money! Haha! read more

This bar was the last stop on our Haunted Pub Crawl. It was the only place we were carded at and the only bar I didn't buy a drink due to the long lines. The ambience was like a typical dive bar except it was huge, the most crowded bar I went to in Wilmington. My favorite part of this bar was the converted alley way area that was quiet and peaceful. We ended our tour here . read more

I rarely write negative reviews, but our recent experience at Blue Post was so unnecessarily poor that it warrants one. We visited as part of a wedding party on a celebratory night, moving from our rehearsal dinner venue to Blue Post to continue the evening with the full group. What should have been a joyful occasion was marred by an egregious display of arbitrary authority from one of the front-door staff. Upon arrival, 2 members of our party were finishing their drinks outside, a common and reasonable practice before entering another bar. One individual finished his beer (which he set down outside on a table at The Ivy) and attempted to enter. The staff member at the door, who had visibly watched him finish it, refused entry. This was not about policy enforcement; it was the beginning of a clear power trip. Rather than joining the rest of the wedding party, our friend went next door to The Ivy, where he enjoyed a drink and danced for about 20 minutes. He then returned to Blue Post, was screened by two other staff members without issue, and was allowed inside. He was simply talking with friends when the original staff member sought him out within the bar and ejected him--for no discernible reason, no violation of any posted rules, and no disturbance whatsoever. The decision appeared entirely personal and capricious. For context, the bouncers at The Ivy (literally next door) were stunned when we recounted the events. They confirmed there was no law or standard rule being broken and found the handling of the situation baffling and unprofessional. They also saw him drink and set the drink outside, but had no problem with him entering their establishment multiple times. In an industry built on hospitality, especially in a social setting like a bar during a wedding celebration, this level of pettiness and lack of basic customer respect is disappointing. A single employee's ego should not dictate the experience of an entire group trying to celebrate together. We spent money at Blue Post and expected a night of fun, not an exercise in arbitrary exclusion. I would caution others, particularly larger groups or those celebrating special occasions, to consider whether this is the right venue. There are plenty of welcoming bars in Wilmington that understand how to balance reasonable policies with good judgment and basic courtesy. Unfortunately, Blue Post fell far short on this occasion immensely. I've heard many same sentiments about this place from locals. read more

Horrible experience at this bar. First of all, the drinks are absurdly priced. The staff was extremely rude. They had absolutely zero respect for their customers. The music sounded terrible. Even the pool tables were terrible. Not maintained in the slightest. You would think for a billiards bar they would at least maintain the pool tables but no. Not only were the drinks priced out the wazoo, I also received probably the most poorly poured beer I have ever drank. ALL FOAM. All I have to say is DO NOT GO HERE!!!! After my horrible experience at this bar being my worst bar experience to date. I walked across the street to a bar and had a lovely time. BLUE POST BILLIARDS IS TERRIBLE!!!! read more

So, this is a really cool bar, or at least it should be. That being said, be aware that there seems to be an infestation here. An infestation of the rudest, most unprofessional collection of of D-Bag employees I have ever seen. From beta-boy doormen with clear oedipal issues, the ancient skanks behind the bar (if you can find one) and the rude and pot reeking bar backs, this place has a lot to offer. Most are old, overly aggressive and honestly all kind of smell like urine. But then the whole place smells like urine. Drinks were horrible, watered down crap with what I would not be one bit surprised were fake top shelf bottles and typical dive bar well liquor. When looking for a good dive bar in Wilmington, this is it! It has everything you could ever want and need for a good time. From the drink choices, to the chip options for all you munchie junkies, to the soft comfy bar stools, to the old school juke box, to the funky art on the wall, to the arcade room, to the whole underground bar vibe of this place... man, you cant go wrong here! If I lived in Wilmington, this bar would take all my money! Haha! I came here with my friends doing some day drinking and we were the first ones there after it opened. So, not only did we have the whole place to ourselves for a while, but we managed to make some of the best memories from the whole day here too! Our bartender was a nice guy who took good care of us and took our picture on the couch for us as we mimicked the "Friends" TV show. When I come back to Wilmington, I'm making it a point to come back here for sure! read more

We love this place because it's fun!!! Skeeball, pool, pinball, air hockey, and so on. The beer is cold and fairly priced, and the people who work there are nice. Yes, it's run down and a bit dirty looking, but I'm not there to eat! You go to have fun! read more

Not recommended if you are LGBT+..... Witnessed the one employee follow two gay young adults into the restroom and when they went into the same stall (because all the urinals were full) he banged on the door and said "I know what you're doing in there. You need to leave". As the one was finishing using the restroom 2 seconds after he banged again saying "I see your legs one of you is in the corner I know it and you need to leave or i'll call the police." This is very alarming on multiple levels, because this so called "rule" is posted nowhere. Girls can all pile into a stall but the second gay men do who are friends and clearly nothing more, they are threatened with police? Also to look under the stall is a crime in itself and is completely unacceptable... Also if you noticed they were on opposite sides (of this very large stall) then what do you mean by "I know what's going on in there".... He then proceeded to force them out of the building. Sad to see when there may have been 6 people MAX in the entire building. Clearly in need of the business but homophobic against two of their customers. read more

Horrific Experience. Not a great place, not friendly people. Typical smelly bar. The person at the door was rude and there are just too many better options.

Great date night bar! Also a good spot to start the night with friends. Love all the games they have at this bar. Pool, pinball, air hockey, pop a shot, pool, darts and lastly skee ball. Cheap beers, lots of games and a cool vibe. A little annoying with their membership card requirement when you walk in because I used to always forget or lose mine. It's only a one time fee of $1. Took me a few times to realize I should just take a picture of the card - life hack. Not to mention, it was featured in the movie Tammy! read more

I had stumbled upon this location one night and just knew I had to return and bring my best friend here. I am the type of gal who likes a place to drink, with things to do and Blue Post Billiards has all sorts of fun activities. It is located right downtown, in almost a back alley and you do have to be a member but it is a quick process. When you first walk in, you will see a bunch of pool tables and the bar. The bar has drafts, cocktails, cans, and really anything you could ask for. If you go through a door towards the back, there is a little hallway and then it brings you into a game room. There are pinball machines, a basketball game, skeeball, more pool, air hockey, darts, and a few other old school games. It was so much fun and most of the games were about 50 cents which was nice too. It can get packed on the weekends but if you go during the week, I have never seen it too busy. Great location, great drinks prices, and so many fun activities! Highly recommend. read more

Fun arcade games. Generous pour on drinks. Varied tunes on the jukebox. Just a fun late Saturday afternoon.

This bar is a really comfortable place to go have some drinks. You kind of have a free pass to do what you want. If you want to stand around and chat... sure. If you want to dance... why not? If you want to sit on a couch and chill... there are plenty of those. How about some pool, arcade games, or foosball? Go ahead. I appreciate the variety of stuff to do in this place. The drinks were a little on the pricey side compared to what I am used too, but its in a touristy area so, overall not bad. Honestly, the only reason this place is not five stars is because the bathroom was... disgusting. It wasn't even crowded there yet, so I cant imagine how bad it gets later. read more

The bar service is always friendly, mature, and fast! I'm sure it would have been cool if we got inside but it was very obvious the bouncer was having a shitty day and was not having any of our shit.... no exaggeration the meanest bouncer I've ever encountered. I know it was a Wednesday but he wouldn't even tell us his name or humor us and make up a fake one. We were trying to sign up for the membership and someone literally just asked him why we needed one and he closes the door on us and is like if you don't want to follow the rules then you can't come in, as we were trying to follow the rules. My point is we wanted drinks and a bouncer with a little more patience and kindness is a necessary. We definitely will not come here again bc one bad experience ruined it but like I said I'm sure it's cool inside just don't be a curious drunk cat like us to the specific no name bouncer. Yeah go ahead look at the cameras too at our faces of disappointment and insecurity as we walk away read more

I enjoy Blue Post as it's hidden, quiet and the drinks are reasonable. They also have pool tables, dartboards, skee ball, a jukebox, pinball, foos ball, hoops and Ms. Pac-Man. However, there are only 6 pinball machines and 3 of them were malfunctioning tonight. Granted the games are cheap but who wants to play pinball on a machine that doesn't keep score or does not have any sound? I rather pay more per game and have them in good working order or for them to be gone together if they do not work. It was disappointing given I had bragged to my son about how cool the place was then go there and find things aren't the same. I will go back and hope it was just an off day. Overall, still a cool place. read more

Me and my buddie got kicked out because we didn't tip, the bar tender words not mine this is really sad I understand that bartending can he a hard job but just because you didn't get a tip off of a 14$ order doesn't in title you to a tip we should not have to tip every time we get a drink. Blue Post has gone downhill in the last 4 months. Have been here every weekend since 2021 but this weekend was the last straw. Saturday me and another friend went outside to smoke a cigarette after alerting a bouncer that we would be back in, did not hear him inform us that we would have to get back in line after smoking (This has never been the case in my years of attending this bar). After smoking and walking back in the bar the bouncer yelled at us to get back in line, they were "at capacity" even though there wasn't a single line at the bar and there were considerably less people in the bar than has ever been allowed. After we explained that we were just smoking he "explained" that smoking isn't allowed without standing in line every time. We explained that our cards were still inside and we were informed that we would have to wait 30 minutes in line (again) to be able to close out and retrieve our cards. Sad to see this place go down the drain. Only not giving a 1 star so that I don't ruin the rating of my previously favorite bar in Wilmington -Kiya read more

Pool, pinball, air hockey, skee ball, darts and a full bar located down a small alley between front and water street. Think dive bar meets adult playground. Blue post is local gem! This is a great place to come with large groups of people but stay clear on Friday and Saturday night. Despite having a large front bar, back game room and indoor alley for lounging this place is popular and fills up quickly! I always stop by at the beginning of the night when I am bar hopping to avoid the line. My favorite part about this bar is the atmosphere and the free lollipops at the bar. Tip: don't be rude to the people checking id's at the door. One minor setback is like most bars downtown you need a membership card to enter. If you are looking for a bar that has games (darts, multiple pool tables, skeeball, foosball, AIR HOCKEY, basketball machines, arcade games) THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU. I had been looking for a bar that had multiple games (especially darts) in the Riverwalk area and are so sad it took me this long to find this place. The bartenders are very attentive and friendly (I do not know much about different types of beers so I always end up having to ask for one that tastes similar to a flavor that I like, and their recommendations have been on point). PSA: You do need a membership to get in ($1 at the door, they give you a card, make sure to bring that card with you when you come back, because I am positive that you will be coming back). Also, the games are not free (except for darts), so make sure to bring cash/coins for those as well. SUPER PROS: They have brick walls which is something I love for a bar ambiance. They also have this little alleyway between the two big rooms (see the pictures posted by other yelpers) that is inside, but it makes you feel like you are outside (there are lanterns and glow in the dark stars on the ceiling), my favorite place to sit in this place. The games are all very fun, drinks are reasonably priced, and I've always had a great time when I go here. CONS: The membership thing kind of bugs me. I am not from the Wilmington area, and this type of thing is VERY common for bars in the downtown area but was not common from where I had lived previously. However, it is only $1 for your first visits, you just have to remember to bring your card with you next time (which is something I have forgotten previously). LOVE THIS PLACE. GO GO GO! read more

The ceiling has a lovely arrangement of multi-colored Christmas lights. They feature a full bar (including wine, yay!)! BPB is a private club, and a membership can be bought for a few dollars. They not only feature decent pool tables, but they have other games such as fooz ball, pinball, and air hockey. There is something for nearly everyone. I really need to improve my pool game and BPB is a good place to do just that. read more

Supposed to be a cheap dive bar. Not cheap. If your looking for a good billards go to Ortons.

We chose to go to this bar for the first time only because the people we were with really like hole-in-the-wall bars. We got there and were immediately harassed about a membership card, ok whatever, it was free. So we spent 10 minutes having our ID's checked, filling a member card out, and then having our ID's checked again to see if we were lying (because we were laughing and having a good time while filling it out). Our friends had already walked to the bar and were waiting for a bartender (they said only one person was needed to fill out the membership card). It was super dead. And within that 10 minute time, not one bartender greeted them or asked them if they needed anything. When we joined them at the bar, we waited 5 more minutes and still... nothing. During that time, there was also no music. None. I think you have to pay the jukebox to hear music? That's not any fun. So we left. read more

This has been my favorite bar in Wilmington since 2000. Back then they only served beer, but now it's filled with liquor galore. As well as a lot of choices in beer. And a huge jar filled with suckers on the bar. Who could ask for more? Well if you want more, believe me there is a lot more! Blue Post is located in downtown Wilmington, almost across from Dock. St. Oyster Bar. The enterance is off an alley off of front street. And there is a huge parking lot right next to the bar. This place is huge! It has a warehouse feel, but not that cold warehouse vibe. There are plenty of electic, worn out and new, randomly placed items of furniture. From reto couches and chairs to small cafe like tables in the breezeway. The bar is seperated into 2 large rooms. The first room is where the bar is located. Which is a huge 'u' shaped bar. There are 2 pool tables in this room as well as a bunch of tv's, and a couple of dartboards. There is a great jukebox that has a ide variety of music. seriously. Its got a lot of tunes in it. There are also several couches places in this room. The lighting is medium, a little brighter than I like, but at least in the morning you wont be surprised by what you wake up next to. LOL. Then there is a breezeway that leads into the backroom. This was an old alley that they closed in completely. It is dark and cozy and has several couches and chairs to lounge on. The back room is basically a large playroom for adults. There are another 2 pool tables, an air hockey table (which I am the champion of), a couple of skiiball lanes, and several other arcade games. The drinks are very well priced and very stiff. They have a great selection of beer and liquor. The bartenders are friendly and know how to make drinks and serve quicky. Jeff works on wed and thurs nights and he has been one of my favorites since I first went there. It gets quite a mix of crowd. From college kids to mid 30-somethings, to people just in town visiting. There is definitely a hipster crowd that goes there but they arent obnoxious at all. The best thing to do is to get there early on the weekends and pull up at stool at the bar. Then you can get your drinks quickyl, listen to some great music, and people watch. And there is a lot of grat people watching in this place. Get into it! read more

If I could give this 0 stars I would. The staff was very rude and unhelpful turned away an entire wedding party because they would not accept federally issued ID's as a form of identification. This place is my new favorite bar. That's gonna hurt the pocket book when it comes to getting a cab home at the end of the night. This place is conveniently located in the middle of an alley, which just screams prohibition coolness. When you walk in the door the entire place screams laid back. I can't imagine anyone feeling tense or being worked up after sipping a glass of whiskey here for more than five minutes. The staff was extremely friendly, and the liquor prices cheap. The highlight for me was the amazing juke box pumping out tunes while we shot some pool. Jane's Addiction, Dead Kennedys, Elvis Costello, The Specials, Van Halen, Rod Stewart, English Beat, Stone Roses, the Clash, Sonic Youth, The Dead Milkmen... I could go on. It was excellent. All the tables and cues were in really good shape, which is always a good sign. Not in the mood for billiards? Fine. The Bluepost has a cool little game room with some old school arcade games, arcade bowling, an air hockey table, foosball, and skee-ball. Yes, a bar with skee-ball. Done and done. read more

The first couple of times I visited the Blue Post, I was part of the Haunted Pub Crawl. There simply wasn't time to take in the atmosphere and look around. It does explain the jar of suckers on the bar though and my what a delightfully gruesome story that is! Since then I've been back several times and have enjoyed the people and the offerings immensely! The bar used to be just beer but now they have all the liquor you could ever need! The staff is friendly and attentive which is always a plus, however as it gets later of course they are busier and you may have to wait for a drink. The music on the jukebox is usually good, and I like to get my drink and sit on the couches in the "breezeway" where they closed in the alley and made it part of the building. This little area separates the main bar and it's pool tables from the back room with video games, air hockey, and more pool tables. Ah, Ms Pacman, how I love her when I've got a nice drink in my hand! The Blue Post is really a nice chill place to go and hang out and if you hang around the bar, you'll find lots of nice regulars to chat with. Also really great place to go early and enjoy all the games with no wait or crowd. I don't smoke, so of course I hate it, but it will be a moot point soon as there is a statewide ban on smoking going into effect in early 2010. read more

We went on a Saturday evening earlier than the normal bar crowd because we had people in town and wanted to catch up. I was warned by a mutual friend the bartender was in a foul mode via text before we arrived, but didn't think much of it since we were going for the games. When I arrived and ordered a seltzer and lime the bar tender accused me of having a fake ID. He took it to the light, scratched it, kept it for a few minutes, and told me "it was a good one." At this point I just laughed because I'm 32. When my drink was ready he motioned for me to take it from the bar, it was not seltzer but ginger ale and lime. I politely asked if they had seltzer because that was what I ordered. He did oblige, acting annoyed. That is what it is, but when we went to cash out we were still billed for the drink that was trashed. Probably could have done something but and at that point it was getting busy and that bartender had left for the day. read more
