We did notice the menu is a lot smaller. The last time we dined here was around ten years ago. Definitely plenty of options. We went with the onion ring appetizer, Cobb salad, and the BBQ Burger. The atmosphere of Copper Penny is the same. Definitely missed this place. After a short wait our food was brought out. Everything was delicious. Their food is good, they are as popular as ever but clearly not a place for people who want to chat and hang out...copper penny is a restaurant not a hangout spot...to me that's loud and clear. As someone who isn't in Wilmington often I rely on my previous experience as a stating point to my ( restaurant) choice. May sound rough but it's the truth. My family the other two buildings on each corner diagonally from them. The restaurant's building is disgusting. It sat for years with the mold growing inside. Building spend several years empty after which a restaurant moves in the gets 5 feet of flooding with each hurricane flood. These restaurants inevitably move out for obvious reasons. Years pass before next restaurant moves in. They paint the walls and away they go. Besides my family owning a couple of buildings by the water you had Doug "The Mayor of Water Street". He owned the other 7 buildings. It was gross inside back in early 90's. Nobody has ever stripped it to studs and brought in professional cleaners.
