First time visit was very nice. We live down the road from this establishment but had never been in until I heard about the holiday decor. I'm not a fan of bar food, but we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food we ordered. My husband loved the chicken fried chicken, and I was enamored with the Mac n' cheese skillet with chicken and BBQ sauce. The star of the evening was the specialty holiday Margarita I ordered. It was a delightful, delicious dessert of a beverage. And yes, the holiday decor was indeed spectacular. We felt very lucky to have scored two bar seats immediately upon arrival. I would never have guessed from the exterior of this establishment that would have such a warm, welcoming and cozy interior.

Go for the smash burgers, but stay for the chicken wings!

Huge fan of Cowfin, especially the boozy beverages and the smash burgers. But the chicken wings are simply amazing - try the sweet chili and the dry-rubbed lemon pepper versions for a real treat. Other standouts include the Chicken Philly Cheese sandwich and classic Hamburger Steak. And don't forget the Moo-Fries - perfectly seasoned fries covered in a melty cheese sauce!

6 wings buffalo flavor.

Meatiness 5 stars Juiciness 4 stars Taste 5 stars Size 4 stars Presentation 5 stars Texture 4 stars Overall 5 stars We got the buffalo and hot honey. And wow! Best wings in the area so far. 18 bucks for 12 but compared to what we have tried so far worth it. Also worth the drive from Jacksonville. The bar is nice and classy, little on the cool side inside but the taste of the wings drowned that out. Would get again. And again.

Cheese curds so good!!

Man does this place know how to decorate for holidays!! From entrance outside to walking in to hanging ornaments to the holiday igloo you can sit, sip adult beverages and have incredible meals in! I had seen it on Facebook and decided if i got close by I would stop and check it out! It did not disappoint! Absolutely gorgeous! My waitresses were Ruby and Charity and they kept coming out to my igloo to check on me.. lot of seating at the bar and tables throughout but I wanted a unique experience and I got it! They are set up in an outdoor hallway between businesses and are first come first serve.. it was lunch on a Thursday so not too crowded and it was a beautiful day out. The staff was very nice, attentive and helpful.. gave me time to explore the menu.. I ordered cheese curds and those were so good.. came with marinara sauce. Then ordered combo plate of shrimp and oysters.. the shrimp were big and oysters very good.. got sides of green beans and fried squash.. the green beans were very good had bacon smoky flavor! I got full way too quick so I took it home to have later! I highly recommend going you will be missing out if you don't!

What to say about the bar and Grill? On a trip down to North Carolina with my husband and my sister niece and her boyfriend and their child., the place from outside looked like a beautiful Christmas Christmas event happening walking in. I almost fell on the floor talk about decking the hoalls! Absolutely beautiful! Now the food was absolutely amazing, I think this is the best food I've had since going down to North Carolina to go visit in the past 15 years, I just won't tell my sister that! The service was amazing. The staff was so friendly and inviting hands-down. I will be going back here.

Peanut Butter Bacon Jam and Moo Fries

I've been wanting to try this place out FOREVER so for my birthday dinner I dragged my family there to give it a try. My son wanted to eat outside because it was a beautiful day, not too hot, but the flies were trying to hang out with us so that wasn't fun. To drink I had the Passion Play Punch which I actually couldn't drink at all due to the alcohol content. I love a fruity cocktail as much as the next girl but this one tasted like just rum with a splash of something yellow, and mint muddled in the glass, which now that I think of it wasn't mentioned in the description. Maybe our server didn't give me what I ordered? Either way, the moo fries redeemed the drink because they were heavenly! Well seasoned and I don't know what the moo sauce was but it made the fries perfection. The Peanut Butter Bacon Jam slider was delicious but I was so full off the moo fries that I didn't eat much of it. Will be back to try a different slider soon!!

Not bad for 4 people WITH BEER!

I saw all the yelp reviews for this place and knew we needed to try it out. Easy to find with plenty of parking in a strip mall, the inside was much smaller than anticipated but decorated very nicely...loved the vibe of the artwork and framed TVs, very nice. We found seats immediately, it was a late lunch on Sunday. They weren't super busy yet but I assume they would be later with the beer specials they had going on for football. Our waitress took our drink order, brought them back. Took our food order and that's about it. Runners brought our food to the table and we had to flag her down for refills. The table next to us had an awesome waitress that actually explained the beer specials and menu to them and came back to check on them. I really hope they split tips because the service received was the worst part (not bad, just not great.) The food ranged from 3-4 stars. The burgers were solid but the smackin cheese wasn't as amazing as I thought it'd be and my friend who got the Bang Bang Skillet found the sauce over powering. All in all a great sports bar that I'm interested in returning to on our next visit to Topsail

Firecracker wrap & onion rings

Cowfin bar and grill is a new addition to Surf City area! It's a really great upgrade compared to the restaurant that used to be in its space. The vibes are much better than they were previously. The service was decent for it being the first week it was open & a holiday weekend. I think it will only get faster with the staff learning more each shift. The menu ranges from apps, salads, burgers, wings, sandwiches, entrees, seafood. There's really something for everyone. My husband and I started off with hot honey & buffalo wings. The wings were good, the flavors were good. However some of the wings looked a bit bloody towards the bone.. this concerned me but my husband assured me that some wings just appear that way. I also wish the wings came accompanied with crudités! If you're picky with meat on bones like I am- maybe choose another app. For our food I got the firecracker wrap & he had the BBQ burger. The firecracker wrap was good, just felt like it could have more added to it. The burger was excellent- we both love a good smash burger! Overall, Surf City really needed something like this added to the area to keep up with the ever growing community. We will definitely be back to hang out at the bar & try more items off the menu.

Smash burger

Had a surprisingly awesome first impression when I walked in to Cowfin! The place feels like a Nashville spot with a little beach here and there! We sat at the bar because it was very busy! I ordered a glass of wine and one of their smash burgers! Mine was with lettuce, tomato, onion and cheese. The smash burger is 2, two ounce pattys smooshed together! They were cooked thoroughly and not dry. The veggie ratio was not overwhelming. The buns were buttery and fresh! The smash burger came with fries that were unlike anything I have ever seen! They almost seemed battered! Lastly, the vibe, the prices and the staff were phenomenal! I cannot wait to go again!

Awesome service, super cool atmosphere and great food! Definitely recommend!

We had a really disappointing experience here tonight. We…read moreput our name in at 7:00 PM for a party of 6 and were told the wait would be about 45 minutes. That would've been fine -- but we ended up waiting an hour and 20 minutes with absolutely no updates or communication from staff. No check-ins, no revised estimate, nothing. By the time we were finally seated, we were starving and ready to order immediately. We came specifically for the crab legs, and as soon as my sister ordered them, our waiter casually mentioned he "thought" they might be out. He went to check... and confirmed they were completely out. To make it worse, the table next to us -- who checked in after us and were seated before us -- had just gotten the last of the crab legs. So after waiting far longer than promised, with zero communication, the one thing we came for wasn't even available. And the cherry on top was the fact that our waiter kept forgetting about us and we had to wait so long for the check. That's not just frustrating -- it's poor management. If you're running out of a key menu item, especially something as central as crab legs, that needs to be communicated to waiting guests. And seating later arrivals before earlier ones just adds insult to injury. We left extremely disappointed and won't be coming back.

Stopped in the other night on our way through the state and so glad we did! A gentleman (whom I believe was the owner), recommended the hand tossed pizza as they make the dough from scratch. The gentleman we spoke with was also very knowledgeable about the beer offerings and helped guide us. They have a great little play area out front so they're very family friendly. I appreciated the thorough review from the first to review Yelper! So I'll get right to it. The parking had initially scared me until I arrived yesterday. There was a nice gentleman directing cars/trucks to spots or to overflow lots. Super helpful! The main bar is smack dab in the middle with Wilmywood on the one side and the stage and bottle shop on the other side. The building is like an old airplane hangar which is super cool. To get a beer or wine, be patient. It's a bustling bar and they'll get to you! I'm not a big beer drinker but I tried 2 on my friend's suggestion. We used the QR code to order from the food truck. We got the hand tossed because the kids would like it better. I wish I had brought some wipes or something because the napkins weren't enough to put your slice of pizza on and then wipe your hands or face. Good, flavorful pizza and they were quick!! Looking forward to going back!

Everyone's food was very low quality and very cold, many people also received wrong orders. Service was so poor that we ended up running our own food from the window (which servers acknowledged and encouraged us to do) Only three employees were in the FOH and one worker in the kitchen on a Saturday. FOH did their best for the most part but the server with long black hair was very rude. Check was also a nightmare, it took almost an hour just to get them out. We were a larger party but split into two checks to keep things as simple as possible, yet people were still egregiously mischarged, many items were charged multiple times. The only compensation the restaurant was readily willing to give us was two $25 alcohol-excluded gift certificates (that we could only use on our next visit. My party was on a weekend trip.) Seriously, ultimately none of us have any issues with FOH, this is just a very poorly run business. Do better

These are the kind of cocktails that make you pause mid-sip, look at your spouse or buddy, and say, "Okay... that's dangerous." Balanced, creative, and strong enough to remind you you're not at a chain restaurant. Now, the menu is limited and that's actually a good thing. No 12-page novel of mediocrity. Just a tight lineup of dishes they clearly care about. Every bite tastes intentional. The food punches way above its weight class, and you can tell they're not phoning anything in. Valentine's Day is where they really showed off. The cocktail and dessert pairing was next-level. Not cute. Not trendy. Over-the-top delicious. My personal champion? The dark chocolate ganache brownie paired with a tobacco chocolate espresso martini. I don't know who came up with that combo, but give that person a raise. The brownie was rich, dense, borderline sinful. And that martini? Smooth, bold, slightly smoky, and basically dessert with a kick. It tasted like chocolate grew up, got sophisticated, and bought a leather jacket. The vibe hits that sweet spot too, cozy but cool, elevated without being pretentious. You can show up dressed for date night or roll in after a beach day and still feel right at home. Bottom line: fantastic drinks, limited but knockout food, and creative pairings that actually deliver. Sea Witch Lounge isn't trying to be everything, they're just trying to be great at what they do. And they are. Just be warned: that espresso martini might ruin all other espresso martinis for you. And honestly? Worth it.
