The tile floor had some broken pieces and chunks missing. But, I was there. So I ordered two orders of the three queso birria tacos with consume, to go. The woman behind the counter was very pleasant and more than helpful. As I waited, I grabbed some salsa and limes from the fairy well stocked condiment cart. After ten or fifteen minutes, I got my order. There were around 6 or 7 people ahead of me, so it was a reasonable wait. I took my order and went home. This is where my opinion was changed. There was a decent amount of filling in the tacos. I took a sip of the consome, and was pleasantly surprised by how flavorful it was! No grease layer on top (like so many others I have tried), just a well seasoned and savory broth. I dressed my tacos with lime and salsa, dipped into the consome, and took a bite. What a pleasure! Everything is pink, and since pink is my signature color, you know I loved it. They're pink saloon doors and a pink skirt around the counter. It's also clear that the owner is a fan of Hocus Pocus, as there are bits of Hocus pocus everywhere. The owner was also our server, and she was an absolute delight. One of the coolest things about this place is that they make their own pink tortillas for their delicious tacos. The tortillas, I learned, or made pink by adding beet juice, what you do not taste at all. I ordered the taco plate, which comes with three tacos, beans, rice, and sopa fria. What is sopa free are you ask? It is a cold macaroni salad and there's is absolutely fantastic. I could have just a huge bowl of soap of fria and be happy. You have the choice of whole beans or mashed beans. I had the mashed beans and they are absolutely delicious - - very smooth almost like they're whipped. There's no lard in them at all, it's just beans onion and seasoning. Better than any refried beans I've ever had without the added fat. I ordered one chicken taco and two carne asada tacos on my plate. Both were delicious! The salsa was also fantastic, but very hot. Another cool thing about this place is the lemonade. There are several flavors and it's so nicely presented in a mason jar with little purple flower petals (Jamaica, maybe?) and topped with a little bit of gold leafing. Not only is this so pretty, but it is delish! This is a splurge, because it looks like there's a lot of sugar. Definitely worth it though! There is nothing not to love about this place. It's one of my favorite Mexican restaurants here in the Phoenix Southeast area. This restaurant is located in a strip mall on the south west corner of Greenfield and Baseline. When you enter the restaurant directly in front of you is a counter with a cash register and behind the counter is the kitchen. The decor has a very rustic Hispanic feel. I love the little Tile roof awning they have when you first walk in and throughout the restaurant. There's seating in a room to the right of the counter, in a room to the left of the counter and outdoor seating as well. When the weather is nice, we enjoy sitting outside. They have it warmly decorated with trees and plants, which makes for a very relaxing environment. On our last trip, Juanita was our server and she was fantastic. She paid very close attention to details like ensuring our drinks were filled and when I asked for some extra green salsa for my quesadilla, she quickly brought me enough to finish what I was eating with my dinner plus some to take home for my leftovers. They start you off with chips, salsa, and bean dip. They offered their red salsa which is very good, but I am absolutely in love with their green salsa. So upon request, they will bring you some. For dinner I had the Carne Asada quesadilla. I normally get the mango chicken quesadilla, which is absolutely delicious. They also offer it with shrimp. It came with diced up Carne Asada that was very tender, loads of cheese and guacamole inside. It was really good! My husband got a combo meal that had enchiladas and a chile relleno.
