This company has gone WAY downhill, from the time I started using them in 2022 when they did provide amazing service. In the last few months, my pool filter was not cleaned although I approved the service, my pool is full of algae, even though only a few people ever swim in it, and my pool waterfall and lights stopped working. When I brought this to their attention, Laura told me that the high heat temperatures were the reason for the algae, and that unless I wanted more pool service, there was nothing that could be done about it. They just don't have the "man hours" to ensure pools are algae free right now? Then, when I mentioned that my pool equipment was not working properly, she said she would be willing to have someone do a diagnostic test to see what the problem was for an additional $150. That used to be included in the $75 dollar cleaning fee, "maintaining all equipment" just means they take a picture of your pool equipment. They also now require a c.c. on file, so that they may bill you for the contract you signed even if they never show up to clean your pool or are able to answer even simple questions. read more

I had called around a few places and finally settled on another company a while back. Blue Ocean didn't show up in my original search. One of the hardest things when looking for a business like this is when someone picks up the phone and hates your right away. It makes it difficult to explain what you need work on and to ask questions you might have too. When I finally got fed up with the guys I worked with before I searched a little outside of my previous zone and called Blue Ocean when they showed up. Stephanie answered the phone and she is very welcoming from the jump. She answered as many questions as she could for me and got answers via text and email things she wasn't totally sure about. It was absolutely top notch level customer service. Her value to that place is the highest. Cooper came out to clean my pool and he was responsive, answered some questions for me and took some good completion photos that came in an email. Very respectful and patient too. Overall, I don't think people think of much except "who's the cheapest" when it comes to pool service but the experience with Blue Ocean makes their very reasonable pricing seem like a drop in the bucket for the level of service they provide. I started service with Blue Ocean after a pool service I was quite pleased with had to close due to family health issues out of state. After some research, checking reviews, I tried BlueOcean, and the owner Chris talks a good game. The experience we had was VERY different. If I could leave negative numbers I would, I would strongly discourage anyone from using this service. They talk a good game, but spent months 'sneaking up' on balancing my chemicals after I paid them to drain and pressure wash our pool and and rebalance the chemicals. To disassemble and clean our DE filter. Nothing beyond token response anytime I questioned the chemicals, was repeatedly told they were 'sneaking up on it' . They were paid for full service and all chemicals, but never did balance the chemicals in the pool. But I did get letters about the need for me to clean and treat with chemicals in between visits (weekly service from them) to keep up my pool. Something none of the other vendors I have had needed me to do. Chemicals never were right up to where we parted ways (March 2023 to June 2023). They dumped shock directly in the skimmers ( even after being told repeatedly not to) and damaged my gaskets and fittings as a result. But denied that could be them, it had to be old damage on parts that were replaced in Oct of last year. But they offered to repair them at a charge both parts and labor. When I personally cleaned my DE filter this past weekend both the Cellulose DE replacement my previous service recommended and Blue Ocean said they had cleaned AND the The DE added since were there, and it was actually growing algae in a filter I paid to have cleaned in May (it is July as I type this). They did not disassemble the filter for cleaning as I was told, at most they sprayed the assembled unit with a hose and put it back. It took they 23 min to 'clean' the filter(by time stamped video of them arriving and leaving my home), took me 3 hours this past weekend. Though a professional probably could cut my time in half. I do not recommend this service, they are more about stacking on repairs, any time I had a question about the quality of the service or state of the pool they blamed my plaster (which is fine probably needs replacing in 3 to 5 years based on 3 other vendors I got to look at it) and offered to redo it for 13K read more
