After asking if the store carried any sapphires and trying a few and the older white sales lady said this store isn't for everyone. I came to Blue Nile in Tysons after walking past it about 100+ times thinking it was like a Swarovsky knockoff. Then I decided to get a new engagement ring for my wife after 8 years and one beautiful boy and another due in weeks! She deserved at least a 2 carat stone for all that. I first met with Anna who is terrific-she educated me on how they work and what to look for. The next visit, I met with Robert-the first of about 5 meetings and many emails. I did a lot of online research, comparison shopping and narrowed it down to 5 stones at least 2.5 carats and ranging from $15-25,000. Robert said he would do better than what I proposed and found a bigger and better stone for less money!!! The ring was delivered in a couple of days and it is unbelievable. Since then I have bought others items from him via email...most of the ideas I propose, Robert does not agree with-the opposite of what you expect from a sales person..he could have booked many more sales. I have small children, so the visits are short, and they have some toys for my son to play with. When Robert is not available Anna, Sean and Aida have stepped in beautifully, and they operate as a team. What a pleasure to work with all of them, totally professional and no pressure. Do your own research and ask for their best advice-you ill be extremely pleased. I have obviously spent a lot of time in the store, and I observed that all customers were served patiently and respectfully, and never any pressure, which is what surprised me most. read more

I usually don't write reviews but customer service was awful and I had a terrible experience. Never received a confirmation for my appointment. Went in at my appointment time but that didn't even matter, still had to wait. Staff seemed stressed and overworked. I went in to look for an engagement ring. The gentleman who helped me was completely unhelpful. I thought it would be helpful to visit the actual location rather than just look online but soon found out I was wrong. Went there to explore ring wedding ring options for both myself and my fiancé, and ended up purchasing two rings and being out the door in 45 minutes. Lisa Williams, a Personal Jeweler at Blue Nile, was super helpful in finding us our ideal rings and sizes and helped us find the best possible value. We looked on line for men's and women's rings for our wedding. It was great to be able to go in person and physically see the styles and try on sizes. Lisa was great to work with while there. Very friendly, patient, and personable in a process that was foreign for us. She had a ring shipped in form another location so we could check it out in person. Sizing can be tricky and may be a little different there, but Lisa and Blue Nile are very accomadating to make sure we got the right size men's wedding band (even going to a custom 1/4 size). I was here this past Sat and this place was busy!!! My BF and I waited for awhile, and when it was our turn, the sales lady made us feel welcomed. We asked alot of questions and she was very knowledgeable about diamonds and took the time to explain everything. The sales people seemed friendly and even though we didn't buy anything, we will keep this place in mind. We asked about how busy it was, and she said that was normal for most saturdays. Save your time. I walked in and made eye contact with one of the associates, short pale one, and was ignored until someone else decided to get up. Once a gentleman decided to get up I was under the impression I was boring him. Also I am not sure how educated these people are on diamonds but I was taught nothing. Excellent customer service! I wish I remembered the name of my representative here at the store, because she was super helpful. I ordered my wedding band online and it was a little too big so I went to the store to see if I could get it resized. It had been a couple of months after the return period had expired but she let me return the ring and get the right size anyway at no cost! Plus the new one will come to my house. This is exactly how a good company should treat their guests. I don't expect things for free, and I was ready to pay for shipping, or even a restocking fee, but she informed me that this wasn't necessary. I would return in a heartbeat. This place opened up summer 2016 and my fiancé and I were so excited to check it out. We had a fabulous experience here with Carlos. He was very knowledgable and kind, and patient with our many questions. The web room is beautiful and they have many samples to look at. Because it's a web room, you still order online, but the store gives you a concrete idea of what rings to order. We love Blue Nile - especially Lisa! I purchased my fiancee's engagement ring from Blue Nile last summer. We went in twice so that my fiancee could select the band she wanted. Once we had figured that out, Lisa were extremely helpful in selecting the diamond setting and ensuring I was getting the best stone for my budget. They were incredibly transparent on pricing and very accommodating to my needs. My fiancee loves her ring and always says how great a job I did... and a lot of that credit goes to Blue Nile. Since the engagement ring experience was positive, we purchased our wedding rings from Lisa as well. She was extremely helpful in picking out our rings based on our style preferences we shared with her. We have nothing but good things to say about Blue Nile and Lisa. Would highly recommend this place for anyone considering purchasing an engagement ring or piece of jewelry in general. A couple of the reviews mention being "ignored" because of their clothing/appearance, and we can't blame Blue Nile for this. They are running a business and want to spend their time wisely. If you were choosing between someone dressed in sweats or someone dressed up a bit, which would you take more seriously? My experience with Blue Nile was extremely warm in the beginning but it went down hill from there. I have been extremely disappointed overall and certainly won't be recommending Blue Nile to anyone. After speaking with a rep at the store and purchasing a ring for an obscene amount, at least for me it was, (my girlfriend was worth every penny), it arrived and I was extremely pleased. In fact the ring was spectacular. I later on found out about their "price match policy" (Which I have to say is non-existent and needs to be taken down). I called customer service and spoke to 2 different reps who didn't seem to appreciate my business at all. Mind you, they could see what I had purchased along with the price. After supplying 2 different stones from other sites, I was rudely asked why I thought they would want to go through their entire inventory to find a similar stone. Well, I thought, if I am looking for a 1.3 carat stone, F color, VVS1, Excellent Polish and Very Good Symmetry with faint Fluorescence, in a princess cut, you could filter just like I would to find a stone with those specifications. Well, needless to say, I found his comment extremely rude and disrespectful and decided to speak with a manger in order to proceed with my search. I mentioned to her that I found a stone with exactly the same specifications as the one I purchased from them....EXACTLY the same specification except for two things....Their stone was a VVS2 and what I found elsewhere was a VVS1 and Their stone had medium florescence while the one I found had faint florescence meaning by those GIA specifications, the stone I found was of a better quality, however, the stone I found was $1500 cheaper. I asked Blue Nile to match their price but they came back with and offer shy of $800 and stated "You can't expect us to loose money on the diamond. Why don't you do business with the other company then given that their diamond is less expensive but of better quality?" I honestly preferred to do business with them because I began a transaction with them however, I soon found out that my business was not appreciated. I decided to return the ring and the wedding band I purchased and take my business else where. I hope you do the same. When it comes time to upgrade, all I have to do is spend a dollar more than I did the last time rather than 2 times the cost. RUN RUN, RUN from them. read more
