What can I say on my second experience that I haven't already said in my first review. Well, the second time around was just as amazing as my first encounter. I called Mary a couple of weeks ago just to check-in and update my list, not thinking she would get back to me a couple of weeks later!!! I visited back in October 2020 to have my grandmum's old watch restored. Samuel helped me throughout the process and it was by far the most stress-free fuss-free process I could've hoped for. In order to have the particular watch repaired, we had to send it to a Houston, Texas servicing center. Samuel made sure he kept me up to date at all times without me ever having to wonder what was going on. At some point, he was willing to contact Houston to retrieve back the old watch parts that I wanted returned. I wanted to take it back to Tokyo during my next visit and bury them at her grave site --something culturally customary to do if it was an item that the deceased person wore at all times. What I didn't know was that in order to prevent the watch parts to be sold in aftermarket parts type business, the watch company does not normally allow it as per their policy. Well, thanks to Samuel, he made it happen. Samuel let me know right away once the watch was ready for pickup in January--it was another surprise for me because it wasn't supposed to be ready until February! I cannot describe well enough to you the feeling of excitement I got when I saw the fully restored watch. It looked practically brand new! Recently, I had a situation where the crystal had damages and my watch link actually being too big and loose. I contacted Samuel again and even though it was his day off, he responded right away on a Sunday evening. He went ahead and contacted the on-site repair technician on behalf of me and also got me a quote for the repair right away. Once the repair was completed, I actually walked away without a charge. Another pleasant surprise that I was not expecting. I was also able to have the watch links shortened so it's not so loose on my wrist right there and then. I had zero wait time for them, too. All in all, I was extremely satisfied with the service I have received from Samuel and I cannot recommend this particular location enough. She gave me a tour around- they really have something for everyone! At least a dozen different jewelry designers/brands available here - from big names such as Chopard, Roberto Coin, Mikimoto, to some smaller but still very fine Italian made jewelers. Mary was immensely patient during our time together, taking out pieces that catch my eyes, allowing me to try them on, assisting me as needed. They have an adequate seating area with reading material available, and will offer you something to drink, while they package and finalize the purchase. I write this review as I feel that I need to highlight what a gem we have in Liljenquist & Beckstead and more specifically, what a gem they have in Charlie Waters. If you don't know Charlie and are in the market for a Rolex, it would be incumbent upon you to visit him so that you can experience what it really means to own a Rolex. Those of you who already know Charlie and have had the pleasure to speak with him or make a purchase through him; you already know what I am talking about. All too often people buy luxury watches for the wrong reasons. Even those that aren't buying them for the wrong reasons, don't understand what they are getting. Charlie is an expert in Rolex watches and more importantly he is an expert in the ownership of these beautiful timepieces. When I went to purchase my recent Sports Model Rolex; like many of you, it wasn't immediately available to me. While a lot of people may be upset with this reality, I challenge you to look at this with more of a glass is half full approach. Charlie took about an hour with me that day to discuss the process of waiting for your perfect watch, what goes into making it, what it means to really own a Rolex, among other related topics. This all culminated in a more well rounded understanding of Rolex that went fair beyond a owning a beautiful watch. Because of its location across the street from the mall, it doesn't get as much foot traffic, and I found that to be great. It allows for a more relaxed interaction with the sales folks. I came for a watch, and hit it off right away with Charlie Waters. Such a nice guy, and big watch enthusiast. A big part of the watch hunt is working through ideas and figuring out what you want next. Charlie makes for a great accomplice in that endeavor. Picked up a great piece and couldn't be happier. First time shopping at the Leesburg Pike location, as I live in Annapolis and usually go to the one there. However, the Annapolis location doesn't sell Rolex models and I had my eye on one for a while. I worked with an amazing lady by the name of Marlyn; I highly recommend her! She was extremely nice and very knowledgeable. She was also very easy to talk to. In my experience, salespeople can tend to force a conversation just to further the sale. Not the case with Marlyn. I got the impression that she was genuinely interested in my story, AND she helped me pick out an amazing piece for my wife! I can certainly tell you that it is the customer service that makes the experience. Let me tell you why I chose this place and why you should ask for/work with Abraham K. As a watch fanatic/watchuseeker, I spend a lot of time in this store just looking and appreciating the vast selections they offer. However, one thing that I really appreciate from Abraham is how he isn't pushy. He genuinely enjoys watches and is in the business of sharing his interest of watches with his customers. I see other employees who stare at your wrist right when you walk into the store to gauge if you have the money to afford a nice watch. If you aren't wearing a nice timepiece, the other employees won't even bat an eye at you. Abraham is unlike them. He will give you time to look around and is very pleasant when he does walk over to say hi. Today on 7/3, Abraham did something that solidified my decision to make him my sole provider of all watch needs and I will GLADLY be recommending him to all my friends. I had asked him to send my wedding watch to get it serviced due to its time keeping being out of standards. Abraham gave me weekly texts to inform me whether or not he had heard from the service center. Mind you, Abraham would even contact me on his days off to keep me updated. I had a very important event to attend on July 4th, so I was on my way to pick it up today. My GPS said I would be arriving at Liljenquist 4 minutes past their official closing time (6:04PM). He texted "Don't worry, if we close our doors, I will still get you your watch". When I got there at 6:04PM and stood outside the door with the yellow service-receipt in hand, one of his coworkers said "Hey! We're closed." When I saw Abraham in the back cleaning up and waved to him, he greeted with a warm smile and rushed up to get my watch and with paperwork. Seeing Abraham gather my watch from behind the counter, the coworker (a white haired middle aged gentleman) walked away from the glass door and threw his pen against the back wall. This left a FOUL taste in my mouth as a loyal customer. His reaction was completely UNPROFESSIONAL, UNCLASSY, and INAPPROPRIATE. Frankly, the coworker's tantrum just made Liljenquist look bad. Abraham picked the pen off the floor, walked out and gave me the watch with all the paper work to sign. I apologized if I had gotten him in trouble after seeing his coworker's tantrum and he said "Hey, don't worry about it at all. I just want you to have your time piece for July 4th". Folks, this is the kind of guy you want handling your precious timepieces, whether it be a few thousand dollars or a priceless family heirloom. So when I came in the store to get on the waiting list, I was ready for the typical "wait list" game stores around DC area play: if you are not a preferred buyer, you are not getting one. Overpriced and unwelcoming. Say it with me now: Overpriced. By about 30% for the exact same watches you can get online from reputable jewelers. For $2,500+ watches that is a lot of money. And by buying online you won't have to deal with sideways glances from the sales associates who- despite me being in a nice suit and tie - seemed to think I was just a nice young looking chump there for a walkabout. Here's an idea: when a potential customer walks through the door and asks about a particular brand of high prices watches maybe start by offering to show them something. I was so thrilled with my visit to Lilijenquist & Beckstead. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a jeweler in the DMV area. My fiance proposed with a beautiful engagement ring (that he bought from an online store). Within a week, I had bent the prongs of the ring and was frantic to get it fixed. I randomly walked in to see if the store did repairs and Jaimie helped me. She was absolutely amazing. She was kind, patient and she answered all of my endless questions. She suggested that I should speak with the jeweler so I went back in the following week. The one thing I hate about walking into high end boutiques is the arrogant, snobby, judgmental attitude you get from the staff if you don't fit a certain criteria. To be honest, this is what I anticipated, I mean come on it's a Rolex boutique. However, in this circumstance I was happily proven wrong. Everyone was so nice, from the staff who greeted me, to the manager who came over and offered o'dourves and drinks and then a courtesy cleaning of my wife's Rolex watch she had on. We bought a DateJust 41 and when the sale was complete we were also given a courtesy Rolex Gourmet chocolate box because it was our Wedding Anniversary :) Charlie Waters is the guy you want to see if you are looking to buy a new Rolex. I'm pretty sure I tried on 10 watches and he took me through every single one and explained the differences on all of them from the different types of chains the watches came with along with the different type of movement on them and models. I appreciate people who know their craft and it's pretty evident Charlie knows his stuff. At the end of the transaction he gave me his card and made sure that I knew I could call him for anything Rolex related. He also mentioned that I could stop by the store anytime for a courtesy watch cleaning. I first met Charlie Waters beginning of this year when i was looking for a gold Day-Date for my wife and a sport watch for myself. He mentioned there's a shortage on Rolex sport watches, esp. the model i wanted. He offered to put my name on his list, had me write my info on a small blank piece of paper, which i did, and left feeling sad thinking this was probably some list that doesn't even exist. Fast-forward 9 months. I went in yesterday to get couple links taken out and Charlie was there to assist. Even though i've never bought a watch from him, he kindly took a good amount of time to speak with me about varies Rolex models, pricing, warranty, service, maintenance and even the international Rolex market in comparison to US. His display of professionalism, transparency, expertise and general knowledge that is Rolex was second to none. He patiently explained the nuances of manufacture's allocation and distribution. His high level of consultative advising was refreshing and at no point did i ever feel like he was trying to sell me, or switch me to a watch that was available or in-stock. I truly felt like i was talking to a friend. He even showed me the actual list that i had put my name on months earlier--to my shock, there's actually a real legit list with my name in the middle of the page! I have been to Liljenquist & Beckstead earlier this year to have my engagement ring appraised. I was informed that Liljenquist & Beckstead offers re-sizing for rings as well. I called Liljenquist & Beckstead last week to ask if an appointment was needed to come in to inquire about the re-sizing process. Mike Canson answered, and from the first phone call to the time I picked up my ring, he has been simply amazing. Mike was professional, friendly, and sweet. I did not get the impression that this jewelry store was all about fighting for commissions. Mike informed me that when I come in, anyone can be of service and that he would be happy to assist me if he is not with another customer. Mike took his time to accurately measure my ring and provided me his professional opinion on whether I should go down a .25 size. He was very patient and thorough. Mike was very communicative even after I left the store. He called me and asked for my thoughts on a specific detail to the re-sizing process. And, the bonus -- Mike and the goldsmith were able to deliver an AMAZING turnaround time. I was informed it would take about three weeks but instead, Mike and the goldsmith made it happen in ONE WEEK. The ring fit perfectly and the service was great. It really takes an extra effort to leave a review for a superior experience, one that leaves a positive impression. I would like to thank Matt Sember and the whole team at Liljenquist for the amazing customer service i received. The pandemic was a hard time for the world and every individual handles stress differently. I love watches and went to see what was available in their showroom. Well it was like the grinch who stole Christmas.... There was not a "high End" watch in the house. Nevertheless Matt took the time to speak to me, and we talked watches and my collection. At the end of the visit, Matt handed me a small scrap of paper and asked me to write my information on it and he said that he would see what he could do. Although a few months went by, i was pretty sure Matt had forgotten about me, although i did not forget about Matt. Needless to say, Matt did contact me and i was able to acquire a watch for him.
