The problems were multiple - faulty install, faulty unit. KC left us cold. Literally. Dodged calls. Ultimately they neither repaired nor replaced the unit even though it was brand new and under warranty. We paid many thousands of dollars for a beautiful unit that simply never worked. Their unwillingness to make things right is astounding. I expect more from a local business. We're disgusted with KC and how they handled the situation. We're going to have to pay thousands more to purchase a new unit from another company. If I could leave zero stars I would. One star feels like I'm giving them credit where credit isn't deserved. *** Reply to Keith *** We are probably listed under my husband's name in your client database. Thanks.

I recently moved into the area and had no intention of hiring an HVAC company so fast since the…read moreheat was working fine. But someone suggested that since I have no idea how to maintain any of the house equipment, I should think about it. So, I asked for recommendations and Sol Heating & Cooling was brought up by a few people. I called 2 companies just to get a quote. Sol called me back within a few hours. I spoke with Dave on the phone. Just speaking with him, I knew I wanted to work with him, and I didn't wait for the other company to call me back. I signed up for twice a year maintenance and scheduled my first appointment. By the way, the other company called me back TWO DAYS later. Dave arrived on time and happily answered the dozen questions I asked. He serviced everything in my attic room...I think it was a hot water heater, boiler (?) and humidifier. He also looked at my gas fireplace to make sure it was running properly. I talked to Dave about getting a water softener installed but I need to wait until next year. However, he did install a new smart thermostat. A week later I texted him with a small thermostat issue and said I didn't want him to come out to service it...I just wanted him to tell me if I could fix it. He got right back to me, sent me simple instructions and a few minutes later the problem was solved. Their company philosophy is to keep everything maintained properly so their service calls are few. I am THRILLED with their service and know that if anything breaks down in the freeze of winter or the heat of summer, I will be taken care of, and the issue will be resolved quickly. I am happy I hired them and what I pay each month is well worth my peace of mind.

We recently had a furnace and water heater installed by Edwin Stipe and, based on this…read moreinstallation, I would never recommend them to anyone. Here's the story: Several years ago, Edwin Stipe replaced our A/C. We were happy with the install, and happy with the technicians who have been inspecting the unit as part of the service plan. This is why we chose Edwin Stipe for the furnace and water heater install. Tim Fleischood of Edwin Stipe came to our house and made recommendations for the work. It sounded reasonable, and based on past work, we went ahead with the job. One of the problems I had with the old furnace was the filter was located inside the furnace and it was always collapsing. Tim said no one installed the filter in the furnace anymore, and promised it would be on the outside in the ductwork. Installation day came. The workers were friendly and respectful of our property, donning booties to keep the floor clean as the brought equipment and tools in and out of the house. This is where the positives end. When the installation was complete, I discovered the filter was installed inside the furnace, just like Tim said it would NOT be. The workers said it would be OK and the filter would not collapse. I grudgingly said OK, and they left. When they left, they said someone would contact me for the permit inspections. The A/C was running and after a couple of hours I decided to check out the filter. I had to remove 4 or 5 sheet metal screws to access the filter (ridiculous!) and the filter was indeed collapsing. Looking at the installation, I noticed, among other things, the gas to the furnace was off. WTH? Clearly the furnace was never tested, and no one said anything about returning any time to turn on the gas or testing the furnace! There were also massive air leaks in the duct work where they had installed a transition piece for the new furnace. I contacted Tim, explained my frustration, and he said they would return. The same tech who did the installation returned (I hope he never returns again). He told me (believe it or not), it doesn't matter if there are air leaks because its in the house. What?? He had absolutely no answer as to why the gas was left off and asked if I wanted the furnace tested. Uh, yeah! The tech turned on the gas and ran the furnace for about 30 seconds. He cut a very jagged hole in the side of the ductwork, mutilated a filter because it didn't fit, and cut a piece of exhaust flue in half, straightened it out, and screwed it over the filter. I was livid! It was the worst hack job I've ever seen. I contacted Tim (yet again) and sent him a picture of what was done. He promised that someone would come out fix everything. A few days later, another installation team came out and installed a proper filter holder. They left and I thought all was good. After a month and a half, I contacted Edwin Stipe to ask if a permit was applied for, because no one had contacted me for an inspection. They said they had mailed the permit information to me and I would have to contact the township for the inspection. OK, but it would have been nice if they had told me that in the beginning! Well, today were the inspections, one for electrical, one for mechanical. The electrical inspector noted that the top of the 2 foot conduit was not supported and it should be. He said it was sloppy work and he would talk to the installer. He didn't fail it, since I said I'd support the conduit. The mechanical inspector noted that the exhaust for the water heater should have a minimum of 3 screws equally spaced at each exhaust joint. Of four joints, only one had enough screws holding it together. He gave me the option of him failing the inspection or I could add screws. I promised to add screws. As much as I would have wanted Edwin Stipe to return and complete the job to the point it could pass inspection, I really didn't want to schedule them to come out yet another time, and have to reschedule the inspection. Plus, I'm not really sure they would have done it correctly. So, zero communication, three visits to complete the installation, sloppy work, and an installation I had to complete in order to pass inspection. Would I recommend Edwin Stipe? Certainly not!

It was coming from behind the wall of a shower Sure Fix installed. The light fixture fell off the wall. I had a professional electrician come in and he stated the light fixture and several outlets were in installed incorrectly. Whenever I tried calling the secretary stated I would receive a call back because the owner was in Lebanon on vacation etc. unfortunately my husband took ill and passed and I finally called Sure Fix back. As soon as the owner left the house I received an expected bill and asking for half payment immediately. I called and stated I am a widow and senior citizen and do not feel comfortable paying in advance. I was told 'it was ok'. We signed a contract with Sure Fix on April 5th for painting, carpentry, tile work, plumbing and…read moreelectric work totaling over $25,000 to remodel the house we had just moved into. Sure Fix's performance was decidedly mixed, and we would not hire them again. 1) 5-6 WEEKS LONGER THAN ESTIMATED Before selecting Sure Fix, Henry the owner told us the project would take TWO TO THREE weeks. In reality, they took EIGHT WEEKS, or 3-4 times longer than the estimate. 2) LATENESS NOT DUE TO ADDITIONAL WORK We added and subtracted work items after the work began, and the net cost of additional work only totaled about 20% more than the original price--a workload justifying only a few days of extra labor, and not a 5-6 week overrun. 3) ON MANY DAYS, DID NO WORK ON OUR PROJECT There were many days when only 1 or 2 workmen worked for just a few hours, and at least 10 entire days when no workmen came at all. This was a matter of health for me, as I have asthma and was adversely affected by the dust that the prolonged work period exposed me to. 4) THEY JUGGLE MANY JOBS AT THE SAME TIME Tony, the project manager, justified his periodic abandonment of our project by writing: "We have several jobs going on and we have to be fair to everyone." We felt, however, that being fair to us would mean completing our project, without gaps of inactivity, in 2-3 weeks as promised--but that did not happen. Instead, Tony wrote on a day when no work happened: "I have other jobs to do." 5) MADE MAJOR MISTAKES COSTING US TIME AND/OR MONEY Among other mistakes, a whole week was lost when Sure Fix erred by ordering a custom countertop made of the wrong material. In the end, Henry charged us an extra $1,500 for the substitute higher-grade material we ultimately selected, but we would have been happy with our previous choice for $1,500 less. 6) STOPPED COMMUNICATING AFTER LAST PAYMENT, LEAVING WORK UNDONE After we made final payment, we could see that final touch-ups had been done with the wrong paint, and those touch-ups now required touching-up themselves. I texted Tony several times and left a voice mail for Henry to schedule the fixes still due, but neither of them bothered to answer me. SUMMARY Their workmen were friendly and the work was generally good. But on balance, we would certainly not hire Sure Fix again. Photos of some of the work that Sure Fix left uncorrected are attached.
