I go to the Moose for lunch most Tuesdays as well as various other times. I am a big fan of the Spicy Chicken Salad, the Moose Burger, the Chicken Nachos and the Chipotle Braised Short Ribs. The food was amazing! I am only 13 , but my parents own the down town diner, and I know good food when I taste it! Mac m cheese was OUTSTANDING and the breakfast buffet was delicious. My only complaint is that the glasses had finger prints and stuff you could scrape off with ur finger nail, but other than that, I enjoyed my expirence!! read more

Just there. Waited 20 min for waiter to take order, waited 20 more min and no soup or salad. Yet other people who came in after us were getting their food. So we got up and left. The waiter we had kept touch the butt of his Jean's with his hands. He also dropped paper napkins on floor then picked them up and placed them on the table of another group for their drinks. Terrible service. Placed a to-go order on a Friday night. Stood under the big 'Carry out orders' sign for nearly 5 minutes while the server was on the phone. Someone finally came up and told me that carry out orders have to be picked up at the bar. Despite what the big sign says. So I went to the bar, and the bartender read me my order - 2 medium well burgers. I said we also ordered an extra side of fries. Yep, got it. Came out with my order. No extra fries. Had to wait for them. No apology or thank you. Got the order home - burgers we medium rare, and overcooked on the outside. Hardly any fries on the side order. Won't go back. read more

After a 25 minute wait (which was fair for a Friday night) my party and I were seated. We were promptly greeted by our server who was very professional. He recited all of the beer that was on tap and after choosing our preference he took mental note and hurried off. We quickly received our beverages and placed our order which was again mentally noted. After we pleaded our order it was as if our server had forgotten about us as our drinks sat empty for well over 10 minutes. We then received our food in which I required a steak knife and the other person in my party needed some condiments. We then got the attention of the server and rattled off our requests to which he asked again if I would like another drink (still having an empty glass). It took another 5-10 minutes to retrieve the steak knife, condiments, and my second drink while my meal had grown cold as did my party's. This is when we learned that my party's meal was incorrect, however we did not send it back as she was tired of waiting to eat. What started out as a good time was quickly ruined by poor service. Granted the place was busy, but that is no excuse for guests to have to endure poor service. I feel that my guests order was incorrectly entered because it was not written down which seems more professional but that's thrown out the window when you can't remember the order correctly. The food was mediocre, but that's unfair to judge since I didn't have my full meal nor did I eat it as it was intended. I will not be returning to the Blue Moose. read more

Drink prices have always been steep when I've gone here. Never seems to have enough specials. Decent atmosphere; decent service.

This was an incredible disappointment. My son and I went and he was really excited to try the place. I ordered the Chicken Nachos. They arrived soggy and it only got worse. There was virtually no cheese on them, about a tablespoon of chicken, a tablespoon of beans, but a ton of sour cream and olives. They required a fork to eat as the chips were too soggy to pick up. By the time I ate the top layer, the bottom was swimming in liquid and completely inedible. My son ordered the Stockyard Burger with bacon and cheese. He is 23 and has never met a burger he couldn't finish. He left a third of it on his plate. We would have loved to address our concerns with our server, but once our food was delivered we didn't see him again until he dropped the check. read more

I gave this place so many chances and every time i feel like I get the worst service. It's never super busy when I'm there and my waitress is never to be found. Wait on food was soooooo long and it wasn't even busy. Ordered a side of extra crispy fries because I like my fries fresh and hot but I had to ask for my fries after waiting for my main course for way too long. And then the fries were barely warm. I kid you not, service is like this every time I give it the benefit of the doubt. read more

Went here for a second time to give them a second chance. The first time we waited for 30 minutes for a server and had spotty service, but the food was fine. This time the medium kids steak we ordered was rare, the cup of soup ordered never came, and the hamburger order was wrong. The steak was sent back and came back better cooked only after I complained to the manager, and everyone else was done with their meal. I do not think I will ever come back to this location, the management had bad excuses, and the service sucked. read more

We drive from Lee's Summit to visit this location. The teamwork is apparent as soon as one walks in the door. Everyone says Hello with a smile, there is a lot of interaction between the staff and the customers, and the food is excellent! The management team obviously has high standards with cleanliness as well. We are older and drive 25 minutes to feel special for a day. read more

Visited the Blue Moose today for brunch. I am a long time patron of this restaurant and have found them to be very consistent with their food and service. After a number of years, I think it is time they freshened up their menu and offerings. The brunch today, as the last few times we had brunch, was very disappointing and not really a great value for the money. Many of the items were either over-cooked or sat in the warming trays too long. A lot of the food was either cold or just barely warm. I don't know if this would pass a health department inspection. The service continues to be attentive and satisfying. I think KC Hopps needs to do a better job with this local favorite restaurant. read more

Most recent visit was take-out order, a nice spinach salad with chicken but also (sadly) an undercooked burger and 2 orders of cold sweet potato fries. Went there last night was so disappointed and I've never been disappointed before here.....we order off Mardi Menu and was so excited cause we are from Louisiana and have enjoyed it in the pass well first dirty rice came out cold had to send back then we ordered crawfish étouffée it was full of tomatoes and the "trinity" onions, bell peppers and celery weren't cooked enough and had no rice it was blah...I ordered the blackened catfish and it was just baked catfish with some spice we decided to box every thing up order dessert and go home I told them I'd try to dr up the leftovers to taste better... we ordered bread pudding that we have gotten there before that was some of the best but got home to eat and it was over cooked so much Edges were burned uhhhh not sure what has changed with the cooks but I want to add our service was excellent very kind... we didn't want to keep sending stuff back so we just boxed it up... you would think spending over $110 food would have been better again service was spot on just need to come up to speed on Taste of food and cooking! read more

i absolutely loved this place! the vibe was amazing and the wait staff was tremendous. the food was a little different than what i thought when i ordered (spicier than i expected). but the weird hair colored waitress (i think her name is mikayla) was so generous and kind. she offered to make me something else, she stayed on top of our drinks, and by the end she was conversing with my girlfriend and i. made us feel very comfortable. my girlfriend and i will definitely be back and requesting her! read more

I've been to Blue Moose several times. I'm not a big fan because it's more of a family resturauant than a bar. I go to a bar to have fun and not to see kids and families. The TV's aren't good compared to other close bars and when we asked them to turn up the sound they actually grabbed the TV remote control. LOL. Apparently they can't play games over a speaker system. The food was ok and staff was ok. I go to Brewbakers a lot then my second choice around this area is Johhnys. A buddy and I went to Brewbakers one time to watch a game but all seats were taken so we went to Blue Moose and there wasn't a single person was sitting at the bar. That speaks volumes, it's just not a bar hangout. read more

I'm giving this one star because the food, once it finally came, was pretty good. Great steak and asparagus. The waiter, Garrison, was clueless and shouldn't be a waiter. From being the slowest waiter ever, never once refilling a drink without being tracked down and begged, to completely scewing up our order, it was an awful experience. I don't usually like to blame the waiter as sometimes the kitchen handcuffs them, but the tables around us were working like clockwork with attentive waiters/waitresses. I didn't get the salad (they completely forgot), then the steak came bloody not cooked (he failed to write down how it was done), kept giving me tea instead of soda and generally acted like he didn't want to be there. I couldn't understand most of what he mumbled at us. The manager did stop by once and apologize but then she let this clueless waiter keep on "not" providing service the rest of the meal. I waited while the rest of ny party ate while the re-cooked my steak. He didn't appear "new" (which I would understand), just arrogant and not really wanting the job he had. The small discount they gave was appreciated but hardly worth the poor experience when you paying $25/person. I'd like to give them another shot as the food was good, but a place with good food should figure out how to hire decent waiters or remove the bad ones. read more

I visited the nerw location with friends and husband the opening week. It was crowded, but the wait was not long and the hostess was pleasant and very friendly. All of us had salads and they were excellent. Three of our salads came with grilled chicken and whatever they do to flavor the grilled chicken was the best I've had anywhere in KC. Smokey, tender, with just a slight hint of spice! We all had iced tea and our server kept our glasses full and was attentive without being a pest. We live close by so hope this restaurant stays. read more

Food is really good. The only problem is that the service has repeatedly fallen short of expectations. It usually takes a while for drinks and food. The servers and staff are always very friendly, I just don't think they are very well organized. We had recently called in an order for carry out and it never got put in. Had to wait 20 minutes when we got there. Manager was great though. Put a rush on it for us and cut our bill in half. I will still eat there, just hope they get better organized. Awful service all around. I know Mother's Day is the worst day to be a server, but we came in at 330, place was NOT busy. Service was slow. Ten plus minutes to get bar drinks, ten plus minutes to take our order, food took a long time to be delivered (but was delicious-no complaints there). Server was never present other then for the bare minimum(as in order and deliver) I had to take mine and another at my tables water to the bar to get refilled. No manager ever came by to ask if we were ok. Half way through the meal te place got busy and we still received the same poor level of service. My friends limonchello cake to go came without the fruit. She went back in side to get it from the bartender, who ignored her, as well as the female manager in a pink/coral shirt. We were so frustrated with our experience and the fact we couldn't even get helped that there was obviously no point in talking to the management in person. Our server was nice and obviously busy at the end of our meal, but if she had at least checked on us once, sent over someone else to help, a manager stopped by, the bartender reported us getting our own refills, or even if ANYONE attempted to make our stay even slightly better maybe I wouldn't be so angry. If this is all because of low staffing every mediocre restaurant knows Mother's Day is hell and should staff accordingly. Will never return and make sure all who ask steer clear of this place. The other locations have such better service, it's no wonder this place wasn't on a wait on mother days.
