Naked Farmer is in Sunrise and offers some fresh food for dine in or on the go…read more The first time I had Naked Farmer was in Tampa and was so excited when I learned that they had a location in South FL to try. We came after a busy morning at the beach and I was craving something fresh. After a quick search on Yelp, I found Naked Farmer and was reminded that we were super close to it. It's fairly close to Sawgrass Mills mall and is in a plaza with a good amount of parking. Although the outside seems small, the space inside is pretty long and has a good amount of seating. The servining is "chipotle-style" where you order your food and customize it how you want it and pay at the register at the end. I shared a bowl with my partner and we got half rice and half greens, some toppings, and the chicken thigh. This was a good amount for us to share and it was delicious! We also tried their date cake and my partner was a huge fan of it. I loved how clean the inside was and how nice all the staff was. They had water cups for self service and it was cold even without ice, which I loved! When you're done with your food, you put them away in a cabinet which is constantly cleaned out by staff which helped give the space a clean aesthetic. Very thought through and intentional on their behalf. Loved Naked Farmer and would definitely get again if I'm in the area or craving something fresh!

And the place is brightly lit and seems to be really clean. On this day, I decided to try the roasted chicken. I believe it was supposed to have some type of rosemary on it. I'm not sure what's going on these days but it seems like most places are cooking chicken when it's still frozen. It just had that cooked from frozen texture to it. It was tough and bland. I tried the macaroni and cheese, which I did like and the carrots, which I also did like, both solid sides something I would get again. I was able to get the kale Caesar with my plate, which I thought was excellent. It had the right amount of dressing on it. I do plan on returning to try the salmon. Hopefully I have a better experience with that.

It was Valentine's Day and pretty crowded but we really enjoyed our time and our meal. We started with the LobsterBisque which was creamy, full of flavor and the corn really gave it the bit of texture needed. It's a bisque but I would have added a few chunks of lobster more. It was a bit light in that area but still delicious. For drinks, we had espresso and lychee martinis which were divine. I live for the scallops at Seasons 52 and it's my regular dish when I go. This dish did not disappoint. Perfectly seared and seasoned with a squeeze of lemon. You can't miss. The hubs had the surf and turf which was equally as good. The steak cut like butter and the lobster was delicious. We got the Mac n cheese for the table and, again, creamy yuminess. I would definitely recommend for a date night or special occasion. I love the seasonal items. Make sure to call ahead for reservations or book on OpenTable to avoid lines.

Ally's Comfort Cafe - 136th and State Road 84 in Davie…read more I really did not want to leave this review. I tried with all of my might to do everything I could to not leave this review. Ally's comfort Café has been a staple in Northwest Davie forever. *Now, Ally, moved away a little while ago and new owners took over. They kept the same recipes which made us hopeful that things would pretty much remain the same. But little by little all of the staff that had been there for years started leaving. I think there's only a couple of the longtime staff left. We'll get back to the staff in a moment. My wife and I go to Ally's every Saturday morning. We go there have a great breakfast and then go to the Publix next-door to do our weekly shopping. There's obviously going to be hiccups when new owners take over a restaurant. We totally understand this. But some things are just not improving. They open at 8 AM on Saturdays. But, between 8 and 9 AM there's only one waitress and one bus boy this didn't always used to be the case. They used to have the full staff and someone at the door to take names. He would also help out by getting you drinks or more coffee if you needed it. It worked really well for the small family restaurant. The new owners took over and at some point they decided they only needed limited staff between 8 and 9 AM on Saturdays. And of course, every Saturday my wife and I go in there. It gets packed and the waitress is running around like her head is cut off and the busboy is overwhelmed. This isn't a one time thing it has been constant since they made the staffing change. It's completely unfair to the waitress and busboy and it's also a complete turn off to patrons who have to wait sometimes up to 10 or 15 minutes just for the poor waitress to come and take their order this morning. A couple waited 20 minutes before their order was taken. Also, the owner/manager doesn't get there until almost 9 herself, which means there's no management in the restaurant to help with the register or put out "fires." It. Is. Not. Working. Ally's has been known for their specials for years. They always have amazing special pancakes and special French toast. It's one of the main reasons we still go there. It's our little weekly treat. Lately the specials have been very monotonous. Some sort of jelly put on some French toast or some sort of cream put on a pancake. Not real imaginative for instance, today was banana cream and chocolate pancakes. It was a dollop of banana cream on a chocolate pancake that had little taste. One could've added some fresh bananas, or maybe some whipped cream on top of that. Meanwhile, the special pancakes and special French toast are often made wrong by the staff. This happened this morning. It took them twice to get the pancakes right and three times to get the French toast, right. Again, this is not a one time occur occurrence. We never complain. But we were surprised to still see those items on the bill and not discounted at all, but that's OK. The thing that really drove me to write this review, is that I waited for more than 10 minutes to speak to the owner/manager on our way out. I thought the best way to handle our dissatisfaction would be to speak to her personally. She disappeared into the kitchen, and even after the waitress went to tell her we were waiting to speak with her, she was nowhere to be found. No I understand things come up in the kitchen, but she could've at least came out and said hey I know you're here, I'm dealing with a problem, I'll be right back. But we waited and waited and waited and nothing despite all of the above, that's what irked me the most. I will say this. The food is still very good. And the waitresses and buses are amazing. None of this is their fault. They should all be paid more in dealing with a kitchen that can't get right and an owner that can't seem to figure out good customer service. We will certainly give them another chance, it's part of our routine. But after biting my tongue, I had to let everyone know what was happening at one of our favorite spots in Broward County.

The Food We didn't hold back on the menu, and honestly,…read moreeverything hit the mark: * Breakfast Pizza: This was a standout. Perfectly thin, crispy crust topped with fluffy scrambled eggs, sausage, and fresh veggies. It's a great twist on a classic and very shareable. * Chicken and Waffles: The waffles were thick and airy with just the right amount of powdered sugar and butter. The chicken was crispy and seasoned well--definitely a soul-food win. * French Toast: If you have a sweet tooth, get this. It came topped with fresh berries and paired perfectly with their syrup. * Sides & Sips: The grits were creamy, and the cocktails I knocked about 6 old fashioned and the lemon drops were refreshing and well-made. The Vibe The outdoor seating area has a great atmosphere--lively but relaxed. It's an ideal spot for a "Sunday Funday" or a break from shopping. The service was attentive, and the food came out hot and fresh

TLDR; don't eat here…read more Today I went with my coworkers to brunch to celebrate one of our coworkers' new baby. We were in great spirits and the energy was good while the dj was playing good music. We were catching up and vibing. I will start by saying while I loved being with my coworkers I would not return again. The server was new and nice. We all ordered drinks - espresso martinis, fire and ice mojito, aperol spritz, lemonade, cappuccino etc. The espresso martinis were watery coffee drinks missing baileys. The fire and ice mojito was so sweet and had no taste of rum. I asked for a regular mojito instead and still sweet but better. And the lemonade was forgotten until we reminded the server while we already had our food. We all ordered after drinks - salads, shrimp and grits, breakfast plate, and chicken and waffles. My chicken and waffles were okay the syrup came out cold and the butter was an interesting consistency... They messed up the salad orders. The shrimp and grits my friend got tasted like they forgot to put oil until the end. And my one coworker asked for no meat and they brought it out for her on the side. Overall, I was disappointed with the food and drinks. Based on this experience I would not recommend. And to Matchbox, please do better.

Alexander's consistently puts out good food, good service, and a good vibe. Our server was 'Faith' and she was stellar! One of us had special requests for her meal, no problem. One of us rolled in 5 minutes AFTER everyone else had arrived and ordered their drinks already, again... no problem. Faith is a superstar.
