I went in not knowing what to think as there were so many mixed reviews, I went with my S/O and myself came out with a mixed review. Here it is. First entering Pier 99 it is a very typical feel for a coastal seafood joint, there are plenty of humorous signs along the walls and indoor and outdoor seating options. We were sat promptly as it was a Tuesday afternoon and not a prime time. After looking at the menu we decided we would stick with appetizers and drinks, we started off with the seafood queso and the strawberry Daquiri. Our queso came out promptly within 5 minutes, was very flavorful and was easily the best part of our dining experience. Our Daquiri however did not come for 15+ minutes and we had to ask our waitress a second time for them. She had brought them out promptly after making the second request however upon getting them and trying, they were nothing notable. They did not have much of a strawberry flavor to them and though it was very nice on a hot day to have a cold drink they did not carry what I had high hopes in for a Daquiri. For the rest of our order we decided to try the hot wings (buffalo tossed) and the Fried Calamari. Both came out promptly and were about what we were expecting based off of the reviews. The hot wings were very flavorful and had a good buffalo coating and paired nicely with the ranch provided, the texture however was not there. The wings were not nearly crispy enough and could have used a couple more minutes frying. The calamari was average as well, the lemon brought it up some however the marinara was in a little to go cup and was chunky and difficult to manage with some of the calamari. The texture was good on the batter however the squid itself had inconsistencies as some pieces were crispy and others chewy. At the end of the day if you wish to stop in for a snack and drink after a day of touring the area this is a good spot to do so, however for a meal I would prefer to go a little ways further for something I enjoy more.

We were seated in a cramped area with little A/C, right next to the kitchen. To-go orders were being prioritized while we still hadn't received our meals. When our appetizers arrived, they were cold, and the shrimp in the main dishes was cold to the touch. At that point, we canceled our orders because no one wanted to risk getting sick. What made the experience even more disappointing was that the managers were nearby doing paperwork and never once checked on our table, despite us being there for over an hour. We had family travel in for my husband's graduation, and unfortunately we wasted so much valuable time at this restaurant. Very disappointing experience.

The sirloin was initially undercooked. We're typically not the type to send back food unless it's egregious. Our server Yvette recognized the mistake and handled it like a pro. The steak came back prepared correctly and tasted fantastic. Our food was very good. Yvette was very good. The restaurant appears to be a ship on the water. The view would be good but it was tough to really see because of the angle of the blinds and the glare from the lighting. No big deal but the view is probably better during the day. The food was very good and reasonably priced.

We ordered at 3:55 pm and long story short- did not receive our food until 4:45 pm. As you can imagine, this wait was frustrating. We overheard at the table next to us a server, C., offering bread to her party, about 35 minutes into this dreaded wait. We respectfully flagged her down and asked for some, saying we had been waiting forever without any bread, she explained it is usually upon request only but was more than happy to bring us baguettes. Now, this was my first time at Landry's Seafood House, though I've been to several Landry's restaurants before as a LSC member. But how would I know to request free bread? After 30 minutes of waiting, shouldn't F. have just brought us some? I would have as a waiter. But no- we had to ask another server. C. started taking care of us little by little. Kudos to her for trying to salvage our experience with the bread and even free ice cream. But there was just so much wrong. One thing was our drinks were empty visibly but we had to constantly remind F. about refills, and he was not checking in on us otherwise. Instead of him anticipating our concern and explaining the hour long wait for food, we eventually asked what was taking so long and he checked only then. He said the kitchen was backed up. There were also discrepancies in our ordering that made him charge us for free substitutions, but I luckily looked over the receipt so he could fix it. The worst part of all of this was the food was not even hot, not good, I will stick with local restaurants when visiting Corpus going forward. My thinking was oh, I can trust a Landry's spot- but I was wrong. I did see the manager much later in our experience come check on us. I wanted to say all of this to him then- but didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings.

After a day full of sun, sand, and cheap domestic beer we decided to give this a try as it is very convenient and right at the heart of North Beach with direct access from the beach or the road. We sat outside as the weather was absolutely lovely and found ourselves by their stage, there was live music and though I was on the fence about it at first I ended up coming around. We were sat instantly after entering and our waitress was very timely, we decided to graduate from cheap beers to the margaritas. Though they were not served in a glass they still came out just fine, they were packed full of flavor and were very enjoyable. The rims were sugared perfectly and the drinks stayed frozen almost the entire meal. For the appetizer there were not many options that appealed to my palate at the time, however being the spirit of Tex-Mex ultimately it would've been a sin to not get the chips and queso. It came out within minutes and though it was your average restaurant queso it still served as a good appetizer and prequel to what was waiting for us. Personally I cannot understand why someone would come to an establishment 40 feet from the water and not get seafood, but nonetheless we decided on the Big Papi Seafood Boil. We were not disappointed. For perspective we had not eaten all day and still had leftovers! The boil is a combination of 2 halves of crab legs, 2lbs of crawfish, and 1lb of shrimp, along with 4 sections of corn and 4 potatoes. It is served with 2 cups of melted butter and a Cajun seasoning. The seafood boil really made this place come to life. Between being packed full of flavor, beautifully tender meat, delicious butter for dipping, and the option for extra Cajun seasoning it truly was worth every penny spent. The variety is perfect it could've used a little more crab but the sheer number of crawfish and shrimp evened it out. In summary I would recommend Fajitaville, the appetizers are mediocre, the drinks are well priced and delicious, but the seafood boil. The seafood boil is a must try.

We arrived at 7 PM to a completely empty restaurant -- that should've been the first sign. The waitress tried taking our order before even giving us menus. The menu was confusing, overpriced, and missing most of the classic Mexican dishes you'd expect. Then the food arrived... cold. Only the plates were hot. Nothing tasted fresh or remotely authentic. I literally had to spit out part of a taco -- that's how bad it was. Service was messy, the order was taken wrong multiple times, the staff didn't look very hygienic, and there were flies buzzing around. Just not a place I'd ever return to. Save your money and your stomach -- skip this restaurant.
