Holy breath of fresh air. This should be THEE bar of Port A. Good crowd, Julie was our bartender and she rocks!! Smilin and slangin drinks! If you're lookin for that "hole in the wall" place that's super lax and feels like your hometown neighborhood bar, get over to 361 and let loose!

New owner recently, same bar, new staff and great atmosphere. One of my favorite stops in Port Aransas, has a new owner (sad to see that happen). So far nothing has changed, same place, same business, but glad that nothing did change!

Omg, we walked in to watch some sports. We were surprised by the people sitting at the bar smoking. Not nice. We left immediately.

This was the perfect place for a good variety of sweet and savory brunch options. I also tried the chilaquiles which were phenomenal! Our server was Lauren and she was super friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and efficient, our service was fantastic. It was moderately busy with plenty of patio seating still. But I do recommend making a reservation for peak hours because it gets really busy, especially for dinner.

As the Chief Funding Officer for the trip, I wasn't looking too forward to this one. The food sounded great. The drinks sounded great. The prices? They seemed a little inflated compared to other restaurants on the island. It was, however, a bit more upscale. Once again, I can not tell you what everyone had. Our very talented and experienced server rattled off some amazing sounding specials, and I know some of them were selected. I chose the shrimp and grits. That is one of my favorite shrimp dishes thanks to my sister in law who makes a wonderful version of them. When the server told me these would be the best I had ever tried, I told him that I would be the judge and would measure them against hers. What I was served as shrimp and grits was nothing like I expected. Tortuga's makes a batch of very flavorful grits, puts them in a loaf pan, chills them, slices them, and fries them. Then they top those with perfectly cooked shrimp in an amazingly delicious sauce. The entire dish was absolutely stunning, but I still won't call that "shrimp and grits". Sarah, you're still number one. Most of the family had a craft cocktail or two with the meal. When I saw the bill, I was just a bit shocked that it was so high. But in all honesty, as a vacation opener, it was more than worth it. It was so good that we planned to come back for the brunch later during the trip. We didn't because the brunch time didn't fit in with the baby's schedule. Oh... one last thing. My son and I shared a dozen and a half fresh oysters on the half shell. They were truly delicious. However, they were the tiniest little oysters I have ever been served. They were also very gritty with several pieces of shell in them. If I had seen them first, I would never have paid $36 a dozen for them. I wish I had a photo. I'll ask my son if he got one and add it later, if he did.

My youngest son has always had a thing for miniature golf. I searched for a venue in Port Aransas…read moreand saw that Kody's had an 18 hole course. We decided to break away from the family and go there for lunch. I would say this is another dive bar type of seafood place. It was pretty dark inside. And, it was incredibly hot. I don't know if it just hadn't cooled down after opening, or if the AC was out. After we ordered, I walked the entire place looking for the best ceiling fan. We ended up in a back room by ourselves. We both ordered oyster poorboys. They were as good as they could be. They were also fairly inexpensive. We both scarfed them down pretty quickly. Something about the sea air makes me hungrier than I usually already am. I think the cashier thought we were crazy to be going outside to play golf. The course is out in the open with no shade anywhere. It is one of those old mostly wood with astro turf courses, and it has seen better days. Still, we had a great time knocking balls around. She told us not to hit our balls on the 18th hole so we could play more games for free. In that heat, we had no desire to play anymore. Enough is enough. I would definitely go back to Kody's. Their prices are a lot lower than the venues further up the highway. Like I said, at any price, our poorboys could not be better.

The restaurant itself is pretty dingy, it's basically a dive bar that serves food. Despite that it was filled with unattended children running wild which, of course, isn't really the restaurant's fault. You arrive and you wait in a haphazard line to order. There is ONE lady working behind the counter who is the cashier and the lone bartender and the barback running the dishwasher and everything else. It's beyond stupid - it basically makes those wanting food feel like second class customers whereas people drinking beers at the bar get all of the priority. If they had a dedicated cashier, they could run twice the volume. This isn't a cute peculiar island type thing - it's infuriating in its inefficiency. We arrived at 7:30 and waited just over 45 minutes to order, standing in an increasingly disgruntled line the whole time. There were probably 8 groups in front of us to order so that should give you an idea of how slow it was running. By the time we got to the front they were out of about half of the things on the menu despite advertising that they serve food later than anyone else on the island. I guess if you get there after 8 PM you just have to have what's left? We ordered the garlic fish, which we had heard was fantastic. It was fine, I guess, but absolutely not worth the hassle. Port Aransas is the kind of town where you can feel good about supporting local places that work hard to earn your business. This isn't one of them, everyone seemed kind of annoyed that people were there, especially the cashier person. You can do better by eating elsewhere, and should.
