Cute gay bar drag performance was pretty .. interesting the drinks were strong which is a given since it's a gay bar but overall good time.

First night of my first time visit to Corpus, this was my first stop. Like most, I read the reviews first and despite some of the honest yet "adverse" comments regarding the staff, I decided to check this place out myself. My experience wasn't bad at all. In fact, I really enjoyed the bartender, I didn't catch his name but he's a friendly, dark hair guy with cute glasses. He was polite, prompt and funny. It wasn't super crowded and he was able to handle the evening all by himself and never felt neglected or overlooked in any way as i there was there alone amongst what seemed to be mostly regulars. Speaking of which, if you're not from around here, I think this is the type of bar that everyone notices and heads immediately turn as you walk through the door which was funny and didn't bother me at all. I think it's just typically a familiar crowd maybe. As previously noted by others, the cocktails were strong and cheap, loved that! I would bring cash, as there is a $50 hold placed on your card if you have to use plastic. I've never heard of that at any bar but it didn't stop my night. The crowd was diverse, various races and ages which I love that too. I'm not sure if Sunday is Latin night but it was lots of Spanish music, which I didn't mind that either, I simply order tequila to match the vibe. My husband and I have been to the Door 3 times. Once for a quick drink to check it out then a couple times post date night dinner on a Friday. Our first time was great. I'm a beer drinker and my husband is a Bacardi and coke guy. Pours were perfect. Friendly bartenders and patrons. Our second time was great. Third time though, my husband and I were both felt up by 2 dudes. I'm still giving them 5 stars. My husband says we are too friendly, buying drinks for people we just met. Why can't we just be friendly without expectations? One suggestion, show some Major League Baseball games. We'd be there more often, even though we watch them at home. read more

Definitely a good time. Drinks have a good amount of alcohol and an affordable price, extremely quick service even on the most packed days, and even if there is no drag performances or events on stage, there is karaoke upstairs. Not much indoor seating if you aren't an outdoors person, but all the events aside from karaoke take place outside so not much need for indoor seating. read more

Recently I was given the chance to visit Corpus Christi for work and it felt like a home coming. My husband and I visiting from ft lauderdale was overwhelmed by the welcoming we received from EVERYONE in this bar you would have thought Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise walked in the door. AMAZING community giving loving kind people here. Met the owners had a sausage and two sides as they were having a benefit cookout for a community member in need. aMAZING again. Stayed for hours and met just about everyone in the bar probably 40 people. This bar is an institution for the LGBT community yes I did leave the Q off on purpose..! On vacation, checked on Gay guides and this bar had pretty good ratings so my partner and I decided to stop by after dinner, have a few drinks and watch the show... big mistake!!! The short bartender was a huge asshole with a huge ego and attitude!! Reminded me of a rabid Chihuahua!! I have a few colorful choice words to describe this twerp but he was rude, disrespectful and just an ass! I believe his name was Storm or something... he was drunk, which is pathetic... I really had to compose myself!! The drink he made sucked as bad as his attitude... Another patron told his that everyone complains about him and always goes to the taller bartender he he claimed was awesome. He also suggested a bar down the street called "Frat House"... so I finished my drink and we left... we decided to check out "Frat House" and was welcomed with open arm!! I believe the bartenders name was Justin who was awesome and even apologized for how we were treated at " Hidden Door." I really appreciated his hospitality and kindness! I'm sure the little rude dude could careless about a stranger, but I really hope the owner takes into consideration the way this guy treats people... I worked at two of the largest bars in New Orleans and have been to many LGBTQ+ bars across the United States and NEVER have I ever been treated like this!!! It was a neat little bar, so if you decided to go, stay away from the little dick behind the bar if you want good service and a good experience... Was not greeted by anyone, only a friend came uo to me. Asked for a titos martinin villed to the brim. I take a sip to bring it down just a bit and left a 2$ tip. As i was turning away i splashed a little on the floor. It was the size of a quarter. Walked and sat by my friends finished my drink during a round of pool. Went to get anothe drink when i was told i had been cut off. The reason for spilling a little martini on the ground earlier. That drink was my first of the night and the last. I did not like the bartenders "rules" about an oopsie. The bar itself needs a major deep cleaning, floors waxed,and a more understanding staff. I have naturally shaking hands, and its hard to walk with fake implants. If i ever go back and he's working im turning right back out and going to CNNCT right down from them. Very cool considering the first floor is a divey and drag-friendly bar and the second floor is a quaint, modern piano bar. I went with two gay friends to this place and really enjoyed the environment. They also have an outdoors patio to chill and take in the cool sea breeze. I actually live two blocks up on Shoreline and went here just to have a few drinks one night in middle of week. It was not a busy night, maybe three other customers. I invited a friend to meet me and just wanted to unwind and have a few drinks. Let me just start by saying the place was as expected, costumers friendly and doing their own thing. I have been here before and had a nice time BUT let me just say this....THEY HAVE TO GET RID OF THE DOWNSTAIRS SKINNY BLOND BARTENDER. I AM NOT KIDDING...I only wanted to order a beer...you know, a beer...get out of cooler, open, give to customer (sitting right in front of you at the bar...YES...the one who you ignored for 15 minutes although she was only one there). Anyway, this guy was pathetic! He seems like the type that has a huge insecurity chip on shoulder. I forgot his name but when I called my friend who was more of a regular...she ask me if "he" was working and proceeded to tell me he was acting normal and she didn't go anymore because of his attitude. OK...well, he did bring me a beer while acting like I was bothering him. Before I knew he was an "$%$" I did try to be friendly with him...conclude he may be having a bad day etc...NOTHING....this guy is going to run place into ground. My friend met me and we left and went somewhere else. No reason to spend time somewhere your made to feel UN-welcome. Visiting Corpus Christi, we were looking for a chilled bar to hit up on a Friday night and Yelp brought us to Hidden Door. When driving to the bar, the area seemed quiet, dark, and shady. We were debating on whether we should still go or not but then we realized they had a private parking lot at the back of the bar so it wasn't too bad. We decided to park and check it out since we were already there. There were maybe 10-15 people there hanging around the bar but the place wasn't very busy. But, that wasn't a bad thing because it made it easier to have drinks and chat. The drinks were good and cheap and the bartender was nice and keep our drinks filled. They also had $1 jello shots that were pretty strong, but that's what we want when ordering drinks so no complaints there!!! This bar was two stories, the first floor had a bar with TVs, pool table, dart board, a few other games, and a small stage. The second floor had a piano bar with a TV, tables, stools, and lounge area. I loved how the drinks were cheap and you the bartender had a heavy hand, definitely work my money. When I go back to Corpus Christi, I will surely go back to this bar for drinks. I loved the cheap and awesome drinks, the atmosphere, the layout of the bar on both levels, and the people.
