Tomeka and her staff are just the most warmest and sweetest hairdressers and barber I've come across pretty much ever. Tomeka is so kind and welcoming. She has such a wonderful personality and a million dollar smile. I try to limit my visits to salons because it can turn into an all day affair that ends up being down right exhausting. Definitely NOT how I like to spend my days off. At Blue Leaf Salon it is the complete opposite! Tomeka is so organized and efficient and her salon is immaculate! First off some of the reviews here are kind of dated and ignorant. From "it was priced too high" or "white women are not welcome here"... As you can see from the pic, I'm a different race and I never felt "outed"... those people with reviews like this are worthy to have a high five to the face (with a chair) Anyways, I am very afraid and picky with my hair. I've had nothing but bad experiences with stylists but after years i decided i wanted something different. So I called and set up an appointment with Tricia for a balayage. I got there and I was so incredibly nervous, I'm a rookie when it comes to hair. I have jet black hair and I never color it... So I was anxious lol Customer service: Tricia has the ability to make people open up. I'm usually very quiet and don't really talk but she eased me into having intelligent conversations. It was refreshing. She also kept asking me if I wanted a drink and made sure I was comfortable. I'm kind of tall so when I went to get my hair shampooed, my neck was bothering me... without saying anything she could see it and placed a towel to take away the strain I put on it. So tall women, yes you know the struggle Technique: Poor Tricia, I came in with pics of things I kind of wanted and I was terrible in trying to explain what I want. She was very positive and patient, so she asked me questions about things I liked and what I'm willing to do. It took 2 sessions to lighten up hair and then color it/put some dimensions. She also cut my hair and styled it. And I ended up leaving so happy and relieved that my hair looked so nice and like what I envisioned. PS: dont skip out of the shampooing... she kind of massages your head and it's the best I am very grateful to have found this place and for Tricia . Frankly for the quality of service you get the price is more than decent. I'm definitely recommending this salon to anyone. Tomeka does an awesome job on hair! I've been to her for highlights twice now, and my hair was perfect both times. Tomeka is fully capable of achieving the blonde you want! She's pretty quick, but she doesn't make the process feel rushed. I usually get my hair done after work, so the laid back atmosphere of Blue Leaf Salon is a breath of fresh air for me. I also deal with mild scalp psoriasis and dermatitis, and Tomeka has never made me feel judged or self- conscious about it. Blue Leaf Salon is also very reasonable on their prices. I decided to go there and get a balayage, Tia helped me out. I think she did an okay job. However it wasn't worth $470 and to not achieve EXACTLY what I desired. This place it's too overpriced... gave me quote of $280 then charged me $305 told me that it would cover two sessions, TOTAL lie and charged me another $165 and to still have some yellow/orange tones. Have been to different places and they charged me $200 and they actually give you what you want. It was okay , but NOT worth it. read more

New to the area so I Made a phone call for an appointment based soley on yelp reviews. Arrived to find a very clean and fully staffed salon. They are obviously experts at hair for people of all ages but also hair for people of all ethnicities and genders as they're also a barbershop. My hair usually gets 2 color processes including color and foils and after traveling many months, I needed lots of extra time and color. My stylist's name was Hope Brene.. This young lady took the time to simply listen to what I normally have done and I advised her I was aware that I was way behind since my natural color is a dark brunette with lots of grey hair regrowth and I was there to get a long overdue dose of my blonde hair.... I could not be happier with the way my hair looks. She even thinned it out for me. She charged me exactly what she said she was going to and I believe we ran an hour longer than planned. I won't be living in this area permanently but I'll definitely make plans when I visit to get my hair done while I'm here. After trying other places in Florida including this area, I can tell you that this young lady, Hope, is the best colorist I have been to... hands-down, and that includes the area I moved from and the stylist I had for 10 years. Not only that but without sounding like an old prude but the salon is staffed with true professionals. I have tired so-called expert salons over the years only to find them filled with young girls who can't stop gossiping or eating long enough to check on your hair. I had the best experience here with Crystal! She cut my hair and gave me a Brazilian Blowout which took 4 hours total, but she was extremely upbeat and patient the entire time. She was so helpful to me about what would work best for my hair. Salon was very clean and all of the staff was nice. Only downfall was the prices, which are pretty steep. I went there on two occasions. The first was to have a consultation on what I wanted to do to my hair and the second was to get it done. At the consultation Tomeka went over if she could do it and she just took a look at my hair. She also covered what I would be looking at price wise. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was just because I felt that it was a little too expensive. At the consultation I was told I was looking at about $200 and the day of getting my balayage done I payed $225. I believed it was because I agreed to a trim so I payed. When I looked at the receipt the day after, I was charged $165 for the balayage and $60 for a haircut. In my eyes the haircut was TOO expensive. She barely cut my hair but hey that's what I get for not asking how much she would charge for a haircut. But if you don't care about price then this is a really good place to go. I look how it turned out in the end. read more

Recently moved to the area and needed to find a salon that deals with multicultural hair that doesn't charge an arm and a leg. Well this is the place to go!! I had an amazing experience today with stylist Cristal who gave me exactly what I was wanting. She saved my hair from a bad coloring job and I'm in love with my hair. This will definitely be my Salon/and stylist for as long as I'm in Jax. These ladies are also hilarious and super friendly which made the experience even better!!! I came in for a hair color correction consultation and while the owner and another stylist were nice, I was shocked at the price the owner quoted. $500-$800! The owner went on and on about how terrible my hair was (it was pretty bad/multiple colors) and how much work it would be to fix. She said I'd be in her chair "all day" (8 hours +). Thank goodness i went to see another stylist and ended up paying $180 plus a $50 tip. Christie at Lavish was calm and knew exactly what to do. I ended up with beautiful light auburn highlights. Omg! First not a single license is displayed that these women are certified in doing a blow out or even have their hair salon licenses displayed. Only thing displayed is business license. Tomeka the owner? Does 'bait and switch' she screwed up my hair - has me go out to Oakleaf today to tell me to fix it is another 100$. She said she did a consultation. Her idea of a consultation was talking on a cell phone and to all the other customers while telling me which blowout product she planned on using. Clearly by my hair she shouldn't be allowed to represent 'Brazilian Blowout' products. Still frizzy and have before and after shots inside her salon. She cannot cut/style/blowout hair that is straight with frizz. White women not welcome! Usually it's the other way around I know but wow. I went in with long gorgeous hair and came out jacked up. Oh she hid it initially with the blow dryer but once it was washed? All the mistakes and ladders and uneven mess was visible. *DO NOT GO HERE* She will not take proper care. Better Business Bureau and licensing is my next contact. I'm seriously pissed and do not want anyone else to get treated the way I have been. Tomeka I've only just begun getting to the bottom of this mess. I have before and after photos of this mess she did. Contacted the Brazilian Blowout company to ask about the product - it shouldn't have frizz with *any* of them. Reporting to cosmetology board, BBB and Florida business licensing. I recently visited Blue Leaf Salon for a wash and trim. One hour and $75 later, I was all done! My hair was great. I received so many compliments. Convenient location for Argyle and Oakleaf. The only reason they did not get 5 stars is because they are a little pricey. BUT, the stylists know exactly what they're doing, and they took me at the last minute. read more

I moved to the area about a year ago and my daughter's hair was in need of care. She's been to other salons before moving here. Every time I took her they treated her hair, give a blowout and sent her along her way. I found this salon through a friend on facebook and decided to make her an appointment, I'm really glad I did. Tricia was her stylist and she told me exactly what was wrong with my daughter's hair, there were way too much build-up and the actual hair shaft wasn't getting any nutrients. Finally a solution/reason as to why my daughter's hair changed so much. It took two sessions, to remove the buildup. The blowout lasted almost 3 weeks. When it was washed, the beautiful hair I remembered her having when she was younger was revealed. Tricia's knowledge of hair, and hair products chemistry is mind-blowing. She is definitely an expert in hair care. NO need to look any further for a stylist, Blue Leaf Salon does it all, to every texture of hair. You will not be disappointed. Tomeka the owner is really nice and professional. She tries really hard to accomplish what you want. I am really happy with the look of my hair. There are some areas of improvement though... 1. Specifically, how to detangle natural hair and 2. how to trim natural hair. She was really ripping my hair up while trying to detangle. 3. She also prefers to flat iron hair prior to actually trimming which means if you want any curls, she has to go back through with more heat. For me this doesn't work. I am fine with heat but not too much. Also, I had my hair colored (jet black). I was a little apprehensive about having someone new do it but didn't listen to my gut. It looks great and she did a good job but I could smell the chemicals radiating from my head. It actually made me light headed and I asked if there was ammonia in the color which she replied "yes, there is ammonia in all permanent color". This is not true; I have gotten my hair colored every six months for the past 5 years and have never had color with ammonia. I take responsibly for not asking ahead of time. I should have been more diligent. I was use to my previous salon using products with little to no chemicals. Overall I would recommend the salon to someone that doesn't have an issue with the points above; however, it isn't for me. read more

This salon is owned by a hair stylist that does not have much experience, nor does most of her staff, but she will talk a great game make you feel confident in her but she really just can not deliver. I allowed Tomeka (the owner) to do my highlights and trim once she was done it looked as if I had my hair done about a month prior...the highlights did not start at the scalp that started about 1 inch down and the trim, well she just combed/brushed my hair straight and just went straight across the bottom...no sections, no layers were trimmed just straight across the bottom...The staff talks about customers once they leave and not nicely...I do not mind paying for my hair, I am use to paying a hundred plus per visit but they are charging much more than other high end salons but can not deliver high end work!
