I have been going to Blue Hills Power and Equipment Repair for many years. I have purchased all my equipment from Blue Hills Power and Equipment. I also have my equipment serviced there. Steve and his staff are very knowledgeable about all the product he sells. When I need to purchase anything I know Steve will advise me what is the best item to purchase for my home. I have read some of the Yelp Reviews about how some people find his personality rude and his prices high. I have never found Steve to be rude or his prices out of range. Blue Hill Power Equipment is an asset to this area. My experiences with them have been very positive. I have had equipment repaired by them and have bought equipment from them. They have been very informative and helpful. Before you leave the shop with a piece of equipment, they will go over the features and operation. I prefer this type of experience over pulling a piece of power equipment from a shelf at a big box store and hoping that it will be suitable and manageable. That being said, this is a business, they are there to sell and service power equipment and only power equipment. They tend to be busy with repeat customers. If you are looking for quality power equipment that will last for years, this is the place to go. read more

I gave them two stars as opposed to one solely based on the fact that they have a decent reputation amongst local homeowners and landscapers and perhaps my experience wasn't the norm. I own and operate an exterior property maintenance company that spends the bulk of our time landscaping. Over time I have accumulated a mix of different brands of power equipment but have been fortunate enough to reach a point where I would like to upgrade everything to new Stihl equipment. I went here the other day hoping to establish a business relationship with a local Stihl dealer but from the get-go I could tell they wanted nothing to do with me. I was met with an obligatory "Need anything?" When I asked the gentleman a very simple, generic question trying to get his opinion on the product he just repeated my question in a condescending manner and pointed to a book on the floor with any information I needed. I then made a comment about the current KombiSystem and he dismissively let me know that was a COMMERCIAL grade product (I definitely don't look like the kinda guy who owns a home in that neighborhood, and I pulled in driving a company truck). I went there that day prepared to potentially drop a lot of cash on commercial grade products but they just didn't seem very interested in selling them. Update: Now that I've read some other reviews it seems like a lot of people have had similar customer service experiences there... Guy has no idea how much money he is pushing out the door. read more

Steve Wells is the best. I have lived in Milton for nearly 20 years now and I think of Blue Hill Power Equipment and Steve as an important part of our community. Not knowing much about simple basic yard equipment I researched Stihl equipment online, narrowed down a couple things and came across Blue Hill Power Equipment as a local dealer. I was so glad I did. Steve was so great to me, polite, friendly, and professional. He showed me how to use the equipment, what else I might need, already sent the warranties out, and answered all my questions. I don't often enough take the time to write a review when an experience is horrible. I rather praise those who do a good job. However, I have to share with potential future customers that Blue Hill Power Equipment is an absolute disgrace. First off, there prices are consistently higher than most any other place you look. Secondly, and most importantly, is that they are rude and provide dismal customer service, oh and it too is very expensive. I bought a back pace blower and snow blower from them and they still treat me like second class citizen when I call to ask a question about repair. I wanted to take the time to review what i consider solid reliable service by Blue Hills Power. Over the last three years I've had tractors, chain saws etc all serviced - the owner seems honest, straight shooter about what needs to be done. Only does the work needed. Recently bought a snow blower from him, maybe $50 more than the box store would have charged - but for that i got it delivered - already set up - full tank of gas - showed me how to use it and how to take care of it so it lasts. He promised to get it delivered the night before a big storm - about 8pm he finally made - as he promised. Overall you can't go wrong and your power equipment will be in good hands. read more

I wanted to give Steve and the crew at Blue Hills Power Equipment a shout out. They are all about service. My husband is heading there to buy a lawn mower but I wanted to share our experience this winter. My 76 year old mother had a snow blower that she bought at a box store and has serviced at BHPE. During one of the severe snow storms it broke and my sister called Steve who showed up at 10pm the same night and took her blower and left a loaner. My sister a few weeks later was using his and it broke down. Steve again came out and have her a loaner which she used until the end of the season. My mothers snow blower may not see another season and you may pay a little bit more at Blue Hill but the service is worth it. You would not get that service anywhere else. And they sell quality products. read more

I have brought my snowblower and chainsaw to be serviced here for a number of times over the past 20 years. Their work is very good and highly reliable. They're not the cheapest guys around, but if you want it done right, I've learned that this is the place to go. They have a very large local following, so they're often backed up with jobs to do. This past week end there was a snow storm. It started on Sunday and Monday morning the snow blower I had purchased from Blue Hill Power Equipment did not work, broken sheer nut. I went to the store and they said they would come and pick it up for repairs that day or the next. Thursday afternoon the snow blower still has not been picked up. I went back to the store and the same person I saw on Monday said to me "Oh we have a big backlog, we had to fix 57 machines from a Boston store we have a contract with first". I asked if those 57 seven machines were already ahead of me Monday. The answer was positive. Of course had I know this I would have gone elsewhere. So in conclusion , I would not re command this place as far as service is concerned they do not deliver when it is most needed, they are pretty nonchalant about it (I did not get a call to tell me it would take longer than originally quoted), and they are not very upfront. read more
