Update to review 11/15/25. After posting this review, General Manager Bob Duffy contacted me and agreed to refund $450 of the $648.78 charge, bringing my cost to $198.78. While I wish this resolution had been offered during my initial conversations with staff rather than only after public complaints, I appreciate that management ultimately made this right. I have moved to another heating provider and won't be returning, but I acknowledge they did eventually resolve the billing dispute. read more

Great experience with Devaney Energy when they upgraded our oil tank recently. We are remodeling our basement and needed to move the oil tank while work is being done, so we decided to call Devaney to discuss what would be needed to get that job done. Stephen Smith and the team made the process very simple. We had clear communication with their technician while onsite evaluating our options to move the tank. The technician provided good information for us to consider, and in the end, it was an easy decision to upgrade our tank and protect our investment into the basement remodel. It was great to learn there was an option for zero percent financing (pending qualification) which helps, especially around the holidays! Incompetence at it's finest. Had to make multiple calls for the same issue, getting the same clueless tech who couldn't even remember he (supposedly) resolved the issue the prior week. Although I have a service contract, billed me over $700 for parts without approval nor an actual bill, submitting to the credit card company using the card on file for auto-oil delivery. Yet, issue still not resolved, still only receiving limited heat. Avoid these hacks! Update 1/29: Comical that they say I'm not a customer now. We've been using Devaney Energy for more than a decade for oil and related service. They've been timely when we schedule oil burner maintenance and never leave the basement showing any sign of their work. Michael inspected our oil burner earlier this week (at 11pm on Sunday as we were concerned when we saw water on the floor.) He confirmed that we needed to replace our burner (which was the recommendation from a very recent annual service call.) We have a quote and a date for this work. Prior to using Devaney I lived in a duplex and used three oil companies over a period of 29 years. Each company had their quirks and issues. We haven't experienced any quirks or had issues with Devaney. read more

We've been using Devaney for years and there are reasons why we've never thought of using anyone else: their workmanship and customer service are excellent. We recently had them replace a 40+ year old boiler and they worked with our busy schedule to find a time that worked well (they were very patient with our constantly changing work schedules) and then the installation of a state of the art boiler went very smoothly. Additionally, when our oil tank suddenly leaked oil all over our basement floor they came over immediately to do a very thorough cleanup. Our basement floor was cleaner than it was before the leak! They then installed a brand new tank the next day. They have always been very patient, considerate, reasonable, and polite when we have dealt with them -- we really appreciate that. read more

I had Steve Smith from Devaney come to my house and give me an estimate for upgrading my air conditioning. Steve was fantastic. Quick replies to email and all my questions were answered promptly. Steve arranged some financing for me and the installation went without a hitch! The installers (Brandon & Anthony) were neat and clean, they put down tarps to catch any debris and cleaned up any mess before they left. I would highly recommend Devaney. I will not use or recommend Devaney ever again. I had devaney for automatic oil delivery for 3-4 years and I had a burner service package as well that whole time. This package was 400 dollars a year. I know that it's my responsibility to schedule this service but after three years of never actually preforming any work do you think they reached out? Nope, just kept collecting the money. I also had them install a new furnace and hot water heater. It had two problems within the first year. It recently had another problem (third time within a year and a half of installation) which left my wife and baby in a house with no heat, in January. I called them and naturally they wouldn't come because it was past the one year warranty they offer. After arguing with them on the phone they finally agreed to send someone out. Shortly after they called back saying they would NOT send someone out unless we paid for their service package and signed back up for their automatic delivery. The man on the phone kept saying they were a reputable company. What reputable company tells someone they are coming out after they know there is a woman and child in a house with out heat and then goes back on their word unless we pay for a package and sign up for automatic delivery. Choose a different energy provider. These guys are scoundrels and charge you for things without getting consent. They have little to no communication skills. They did a cleaning and the tech replaced the fire wheel. I was notified about this until the end of the service. He never said there would be a charge. They tried to charge me $130.00!!!! And guess what... it was a $20 part! $91.00 for labor. I called and called and finally they refunded me up to the $20 environmental fee. Unbelievable- go elsewhere. These clowns will never get another dime out of me again! And they will never touch my Buderus boiler again! read more

Moved to a home in West Bridgewater and Devaney had been the gas supplier before we moved in. Fantastic service. No complaints. They come the next day after you call for a fill up. Reasonably good to deal with. Technicians are well trained and customer service can be good if you get the right person. Service contract is a little steep especially if you just get the annual tune up and never make a repair call, but I guess it's more an insurance policy. read more

I would like to be fully reimbursed for my last payment. I did not believe that I was under a contract with you the last time you delivered oil. I even had a different company's bracelet around my exterior oil pipe and you still delivered to my house at a very high price per gallon. After multiple unanswered phone calls and emails, I finally reached someone. I wasted so much time trying to connect with someone and when I did I was treated disrespectfully. We called up the phone recording and differed on the interpretation of what was said. I believed that I had ended the business relationship and the owner differed. The owner refused to negotiate and demanded that I pay for the oil delivery at a high price! I offered to pay for it at price I had newly contracted for with my new company yet my offer was refused. The owner played hardball and the sickening part is that he seemed to enjoy it. I paid the balance to protect my credit yet resent it to this day. Make amends? Please pay me back for the payment I made to protect my credit under protest. And why am I hearing from you now? This happened a long while back. You have my address.. go ahead and send me a check in the same amount as my last payment if you'd like to make amends. read more

Shawn came out to look at my AC system and I just have to say that he was the nicest person I have ever dealt with. My AC unit is old. It's really old and I knew it was pretty hopeless. I was hoping for the best but expecting the worst, and I could tell that Shawn did not want to give me bad news either. He spent a lot of time testing the unit. I called Devaney because it was the company that was listed on the tank for this new home purchase. They answered the phone quickly and were able to send a technician in a couple of days to inspect the tanks before coming the following day to deliver oil. Unfortunately, both of the tanks needed to be replaced before any delivery could happen. I received the paperwork for a contract the same day as my initial call. At no point was it disclosed that the inspection was a separate charge from the contract for buying oil. Almost a month after the inspection, I received a bill for $182.00, the labor rate. I would have greatly appreciated transparency in the cost of business with Devaney. The initial contract does not include any information about an initial inspection or charge for said inspection. read more

Bait and Switch. Sent me an email to lock in a winter rate. I responded twice to the offer but received no email response back. So I Called the company twice. The First time I was told the person in charge of the contracts was behind so not to worry. Second time I was told not to worry they would make a note on my account that I had agreed to the winter pricing. Got my first delivery this morning: $474 bill for half a tank! When I called I was informed I didn't send back the contract I should have somehow known to hunt down in my SPAM email! Now charging me $6.2999 per gallon and telling me in November this is my fault! We ran out of oil twice on an automatic payment schedule. After the first time running out, we were monitoring the gauge and called a week before the tank was empty. We were assured the tank was half full. A week later it was empty again. It took 6 hours for someone to come that day to refill the tank. Terrible service and would avoid at all costs. read more

They did not install my heating system but when I became a customer they reviewed it and it is now covered under their protection plan. They have come through BIG TIME on one major issue that cropped up (of course on the COLDEST NIGHT OF THE WINTER!). I thought I was going to have to find emergency housing but they got out here at 11pm, and fixed things so I could stay in the house and my pipes would not freeze. Next morning - here with the part to install it. It was a major part and it was A LOT of work. Had other work just recently on some oil lines to bring them up to date. Just wonderful.
