Was advertised as having AC, but this consisted of a fan under a shelf that did nothing to cool the room. It had been close to 100 degrees that day and room remained hot. We tried to sleep on top of the beds with our heads as close as possible to the fan, but this didn't help. I wanted to open a window, but there was no screen on the window, which was right in front of the parking lot and there were a lot of insects in the air. The piece of resistance was the cockroach in the shower in the morning.

Straight out of a scary movie.

Oh. My. God. So me and my good friend made last minute plans to do a duck hunting trip in the valley and as a result, did not book a hotel. We called all around and nobody had any rooms. Except Blue Gum. Sweet! We map it on the GPS and began driving do the location. We turn down a few dark streets and suddenly, I got chills as we slowly drove in the rain looking for the address in the middle of nowhere. We pulled up to the motel and I see this sign straight out of the 60's and what looked like a trailer park lit up by Christmas lights. I tell my buddy to wait in the truck while I got us our keys to the room. The old Indian woman working at the front was very kind and helpful. While waiting, a man walked into the office in his pajamas and begins complaining about how his heater still isn't working. I felt for him as it was about 29 degrees out, windy, freezing rain. We get the keys and are told we need to park the truck on the main road instead of the parking lot because we had a full sized pickup truck, which means we got the luxury of having to load every bit of hunting gear into our room so we didn't get broken into at night. Usually (in most hotels) we just park by our room so we can be woken up by the alarm. The numbers on the door were almost completely worn off. I know these numbers are pretty darn cheap at the home improvement store, so this place must be in a bad financial state. The walls inside were cracking. The screens were covered in patches. Not a single surface was level in this entire place. The microwave was propped up on a sliver of wood. Oh, and THE HEATER WAS BROKEN!!! Arg! Luckily there was a kitchenette and we were able to turn on the electric stove and warm up the place. After many complaints, the manager drove to Wal-mart and bought us a space heater. Unfortunately, this was at about 2:00AM at this point and we had to be awake at 4:00AM to go hunt. Not happy about being woken up after finally getting to sleep. Stay away. Far far away. I have stayed in some cheap slummy motels in my younger days as I traveled the country, but this one takes the cake as the worst.

Check in and check out were very quick. The staff were very friendly and helped us find some plates for our dinner. The staff were friendly, especially Julie, the young lady who checked us in. There were problems with our TV she actually came to our room to fix It, she was not able to correct it at that moment and offered us points, although we were not completely satisfied, she had the best attitude which made it truly hard to be upset. Remember attitude is everything. We were on the first floor, no view, just a bunch of trucks but we did not expect much. The beds were super comfortable, pillows were comfortable, we had to get a few extra wash cloths but that was ok as well.. We went out and came back during the lunch hour and there were chocolate chip cookies available, like we really needed them, but it was nice. The breakfast was good, just enough to help us get back on the road to Southern California, thank you Julie for the extra attention.

My husband goes here regularly for the motorcycle track days down the street, and we've stayed at this hotel a couple times. We also stayed at the hotel next door and the BW is significantly better, so we would never go to the other one by choice. This place is very clean, well organized and has great amenities. The rooms are a good size and very clean. Everything looks newly remodeled (and it might be), the carpets look and feel very clean, they're perfectly touching all the walls and corners, no parts where the carpet is already coming up or torn, etc. The bathroom is spotless with Dove accessories- soap, (the cutest little soap you've ever seen) lotion, shampoo and body wash (those are mounted to the wall so you don't get samplers). Our room didn't have conditioner which was a bummer, not sure if that's standard. I think this is such a key element because that means you're always going to get quality products. The shampoo and body wash smelled sooo nice, it filled the whole bathroom. There's a pool with a really nice hot tub and both are always very clean (and usually empty!). There is also a hot breakfast which I didn't taste, so can't attest to, but it looked legit! There's a cooler with milks, yogurt and a couple other things that we were able to access the night we got there, I'm not sure if that's always available, but we were able to get milks for my daughter for free! There was also a really effective black out curtain in our room, which made a huge difference, because I'm pretty sure the sun would have been shining right in our room in the morning. We also asked for a pack and play and they had a crib waiting for us with all the sheets put in it and it appeared to be very clean, so that was a relief. The staff was friendly and helpful and if we have to come back to Willows, we'll try to stay here again!

Plenty of parking, including parking for big rigs, and vehicles pulling trailers. I was checked in by Nadia, who was very friendly and very helpful. The lobby was very clean. The hotel also has a very decent sized indoor pool.... they also have a fitness center and a guest Laundry. My room was spotless. Plenty of plugs to charge my gear, the heater heated the room well. There was a fridge, a microwave, and a coffee machine. The bed was very comfortable.... The star of the room was that Jacuzzi tub. It's big enough to hold two people, and it was amazing. The Jacuzzi Jets were just so relaxing. There's a timer. It gives you 15 minutes of the Jacuzzi Jets. Unfortunately, the timer was across the room underneath the TV set. So when the Jets shut off, instead of getting out of the tub and walking across the room to reset the timer, I just soaked in that wonderful tub for almost another 10 minutes. I slept like a baby afterward. Breakfast in the morning is basic, cold cereal, they have a waffle machine, yogurt, and coffee. If you want more, there are plenty of good places to eat in town. The black bear diner is less than a half a block away, decent portions of great comfort food at decent prices. There was a problem with the TV set. I could get Netflix and YouTube, but none of the Dish Network channels. I mentioned it to Nadia, and she said there wasn't anything she could do. She gave me the email address for her supervisor. I emailed the supervisor, and he called me on my phone in less than 10 minutes. He told Nadia what she had to do to reset the TV set, and she came up and tried, but unfortunately, I just couldn't get the Dish Network. He offered to put me in a different room, but I had already unpacked. I asked if I could get a few dollars off the room rate, and he mentioned that I was already on the government rate. That was fair. At least they tried. In addition to what I did get off the TV, I also had my iPad. One other tiny glitch, while the Wi-Fi was fast enough to stream video, occasionally, it would either bog down, or disconnect for a few seconds. I just reset it on my iPad, and it was fine. This was a great night, and I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you.

Finding a place for us to stay is always quite a bit challenging because we have a dog. Primarily, this place caught my attention as I was browsing through hotels.com because it welcomes pets and it's cheap, $32/night. He was a little hesitant because for $32 a night, you would not know what to expect. My expectation was way down at the bottom to be honest but all I cared is they welcome pets. For $32 per night (booked through hotels.com), I'd give this place 4 stars. Clean rooms, comfy and firm bed, HBO channel, hot shower, and offers breakfast. The parking is good and the place is conveniently located near the restaurants and gas stations. But just like most motels, it has a distinct funny smell that literally sticks with you tell you get home. So take a shower if you don't want to carry that smell around with you. The doors make this loud banging noise when you open and close them so try to make less noise as much as you can if you are considerate enough. I don't know why they didn't change the name to Willows' Travelodge yet but that's the new name now.
