Five stars isn't high enough…read more I went to the Pageant Theater and even before I walked in, I noticed this place is on a killer block: a movie theater, vintage clothing store, hair salon and coffee shop all in a row. It's the perfect brick and mortar/ walkable town experience. When I went in, I felt like I was in a different era. The building itself has so much character and such a unique layout, I felt like I was Travis Bickle from taxi driver in that scene where he gets off his shift and goes to a movie theater after (but in a wholesome way of course). It's so assuring to know that places like this are still out there. If you're a Chico local or just blowing through the town, be sure to make a stop here because you definitely won't regret it. Can't wait to go back.

A small popcorn is $7? This isn't an AMC or other big movie chain. It's Oroville, CA. Even their drink prices are on the higher end. It takes 2 minutes to google how much they charge and spoiler alert...it's 700% of what they buy their supplies for. Overall, not a great experience. I'd rather go to Chico's movie theater and enjoy no audio mess ups, comfier chairs, and an overall better experience. Also just want to mention that I know of at least 3 people who've had their cars broken into at this establishment. Absolutely insane.

At this location a matinee showing is only $8.00 while in Redding the cheapest ticket for a matinee movie is $11.50 and the prices go up substantially from there depending on if you want the surround sound or the fancy reclining seat. This theatre here is simple and old school. And absolutely perfect for me and my families budget. Trust me, the buttered popcorn is just as delicious!! I highly recommend any local folks try this place out as an alternative to the fancy chain theatre in Redding! Your pocketbook will thank you!!

I always buy in advance and have zero trouble getting the seats I want. Plenty of clean bathrooms here as well. They don't serve beer or alcohol here but they do serve lots of hot food like pizza and hot dogs and even chicken tenders along with the classic buttery popcorn. Parking is easy. The Onyx shows indie films and main stream movies too. One of the things I find charming is the way someone always walks into the theater to introduce the movie just before the previews start. The Onyx sells candy and popcorn (last I checked it was organic popcorn) They offer wine and other beverages too. Popcorn and wine are a surprisingly nice combination!

Terrible and Disrespectful Experience at Onyx Theater…read more I took three senior citizens to the Onyx Theater to see what we believed was a movie about the band Nirvana, since my sister was a big Nirvana fan and the group was excited to see it. The movie was titled "Nirvanna: The Band - The Show - The Movie." We spent nearly $100 to get in and $100 on food there, went into the theater, and within the first ten minutes realized it was not about the band Nirvana at all, but instead about two comedians pretending to be in a band with a similar name. We immediately went back to the front to explain the misunderstanding and politely asked for a refund. Instead of showing any understanding, the staff began criticizing the three seniors for not noticing that "Nirvanna" was spelled with two N's instead of one. They acted as if these seniors were foolish for not catching the subtle spelling difference (one N vs. two N's), which was incredibly rude and unnecessary. The way they treated them was insulting, embarrassing, and completely lacking in class. A simple misunderstanding turned into a humiliating experience because of how dismissive and condescending the staff was. One star for a truly terrible experience and shockingly rude customer service.
