Apart from the hotel, there is also a Spa, Club, Gym and Play area for the kids, its like a smaller version of a wacky warehouse called Woodys, its a lot airier and modern, with big glass windows! The staff are helpful and friendly, and they also have an offer at the moment for Parent and Toddlers from 11.30 -2.00pm you can get a free hot drink if you stay and play.

I visited recently with my family to have a Sunday meal in the Hotel Restaurant and it was awesome! We met up in the Conservatory first then made our way to the restaurant. We were shown the menu and there was an excellent choice of starters, main courses and desserts - something for everyone! The staff are very friendly and professional and the table service was excellent. From ordering our food to having it served at the table was very quick and the food was hot and delicious. We didn't feel pressured or rushed to finish, it didn't matter how much noise we made (within reason!), there were strains of happy birthdays being sung around the room at other tables! Well worth the price, which I think was £15 for a three course meal served to you at the table (we were with family members who paid for the party, so not 100% sure of the price). Definitely worth a visit for a Sunday lunch! Highly recommended.

Very close to Xscape, so it's convenient for dinner when I'm on business trips, I've never tried the hotel restaurant because of this. Check in/out is usually quick and hassle free. The staff are also helpful and friendly. Breakfast is quite good with full English and continental available. I noticed that they have pancakes on my most recent trip but couldn't find any syrup to put on them. They also have bagels and crumpets. The hotel is right next to a railway station (Glasshoughton) so it's quite easy to get to Leeds. My only negative point is that the sliding bathroom door in some rooms is very difficult to use.

The staff were really attentive and very pleasant and personable without being in your face! Because it was a special occasion I had booked a cabin. I chose a spa cabin, a little bit more expensive than the standard but still excellent value and the jacuzzi was enormous! After a bottle of bubbly and a luxurious soak in the bubbles we were ready for our bed on the mezzanine. The rooms were terrifically well appointed and quite by far the most reasonably priced luxury we've enjoyed in a long time. I have a feeling we're going to be holding a lot more celebrations at The Gardeners!

But whilst talking to someone after Leeds West Indian Carnival he recommended the hotel. 'you know the owners. They used to own that delicatessen near your house.' that did it. I temebered the nice couple whohsed to serve Goyer cheese and salami. I also got my favourite polish caramel sweets from there. So i booked and got a lift there within half hour. They were welcoming and as friendly as I remembered them from 1972. Booking in was so good My bags were carried upstairs and i was wished good night. I watched tv for half an hour then settled in the cosy bed with pretty flowered bedding. I slept through till 7. A rarity for me. I felt at home.Breakfast at 8.30 was a wonderful experience in a spacious restaurant. I had a spoonful of each cereal and the milk was brought in a small jug. Personal service making me feel special. Toast was brought in on a plate and tea in a teapot. My breakfast was well cooked and on an oval plate.they asked if everything was ok, did I need anything else. I was even offered another pot of tea in case the other was cold. They took time to have a conversation when I said I used to buy ham salami and cheese from them. I Mentioned my favourite sweets too. I then went back to bed for half an hour. The other staff were as friendly as the owners. They allowed me to watch tv and charge my phone in the lounge though it was past checking out time. Everyone was So calm and relaxed. And someone even send them some flowers. All in all it was a wonderful experience and i can't wait to-do it again.

If you go along canal the opposite way you will meet the Trent river and have a smashing view of Notts Forests City grounds. It's a nice walk too, during which we saw a family of Canada Geese. Tonight I will sleep like a princess! Hopefully not the one with a pea under the mattress :-) Breakfast was lovely. I slept very well too. The hotel is in a very nice typical yorkshire village - Badsworth. It is set in its own grounds with beautiful garden front and back. There is a conservatory at the bag which is used for weddings etc. The rooms are very clean but I feel very dated. Everything is there but it feels like its stuck in the 70's. No lift but only 2 floors - I think about 15 or 16 rooms. Its well known for the Jacobean Pub which is at the side of the main building. The pub is nice looking, stone floors and traditional furniture. Two or three real ales - Theakstons Best and I think Black Sheep. Two or three usual suspects for Lager - Amstel , 1664 and Carling. Last night they were turning away anybody who hadnt booked a table, it was that busy on food. Im afraid I cannot understand why, I have eaten here on many occasions not through choice but through work and can only say its very hit and miss. One night the fish and chips will be great, the next visit burnt fish and undercooked chips ! It doesnt seem to matter how busy they are either its pot luck. My english colleague agreed so we took our Italian visitor out for a typical english meal of - you guessed it Indian Food ! I will stay here again , there isnt a reason not to , but I wouldnt stay out of free choice away from work commitments. If you do need a hotel thats clean , with nice staff and not too expensive you will be fine here. Take a chance on the grub or order a cab, there is plenty of choices within a tenner cab fare.
