The cider is okay, they do charge $7 for a 6 ounce glass... way to much for what you are getting. The real reason I will never go back is the male cider server that scolded me and a friend as we were moving the umbrella back as it had moved with the wind, he could have just walked out and said "hey let me adjust that for you" instead of just yelling out of a little window. read more

We sampled all of the ciders and did not like a single one. The ciders were overpriced and the employees barely acknowledged us when we walked in....they just stared at us....weird! Our first time visit to a brewery around the corner made up for it! Good luck Blue Bee-(not really) I don't think you will last too long in the RIC area. read more

I did a tasting here and it was a great experience. The staff member who led it (I unfortunately do not recall the name) was extremely knowledgeable about each of the ciders. The Mill Race Bramble was by far my favorite, though the others were good as well. read more

Unique and intimate. We randomly stumbled upon this place while sight seeing in Richmond and man were we lucky. The ciders here are delicious, duh; but the owner, Courtney, who gave us a tour of her brewery was extremely welcoming. You can tell she loves her craft and has passion for what she does. Since I grew up in wine country I'm used to large breweries with fancy and shiny equipment. Blue Bee does use equipment but the pressing of apples and fermenting techniques are unique and produce amazing well rounded tastes. I was extremely impressed and recommend this place for a free tour or an $8 tasting of their ciders! Plus their patio is very cute and a great place to sit and drink! read more

It's like wine tasting minus the snobbery! The owner is extremely kind and knowledgeable, didn't rush us at all. I was surprised at how...weird(?) some of the ciders were. The tasting was not boring and repetitive like I thought it would be. The entrance kind of feels like you're sneaking in the back door; a "come on in" sign would have been helpful. read more

Great cider! Great staff! Go for the tasting even if your by yourself or with friends or family. Then grab a glass and sit outside. They are happy to tell you where their products are to like where they get their berries for the cider that includes them...agri berry! The outside view is great unfortunately there is construction so it might not last long. Luckily they are moving to a bigger location in town and the design look great! The people that work there, the few times I've physically gone in and done a cider tasting, have always been very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. I particularly enjoy the Charred Ordinary, and anytime I'm back in Richmond picking up cider here is always at the top of my list! read more

Ciders ranging from lightly sweet to dry and tart. Go here if you like real cider, not that sickeningly sweet stuff the mass producers out out. Additionally, they are creative! Ciders with raspberry, mulberries, aged in brandy, etc. all each with unique flavors. Go here for adventure. read more

I was in Richmond on Dec. 04 and I had some free time. I had heard of Blue Bee Cider from my visit to James River Cellars. This was my first visit to a cidery. I was in for a most enjoyable education. The gentleman, pouring the cider, was one of the founders. He kept up a steady stream of information about Blue Bee and about cider. The ciders (6 of them) were quite pleasing and dryer (as in wine) than I expected. I enjoyed them so much that I bought 2 bottles. One of the Mill Race Bramble and one of the Aragon 1904. We stopped in before leaving Richmond on a whim, and had a great experience. We each did the tasting which was surprisingly fun, and not at all pretentious. Kidding, sort of. The people working were really cool and knowledgeable, and one ounce of sampling all of them was more than enough. If you're looking for a place to kill an hour or two, I'm sure the flights would be a great choice. With the tasting we were in and out with a bottle of our favorite in about a half hour. Went to Blue Bee for a friend's birthday hang on Saturday, April 1st. The ciders I tried were good; the best by far was the Mill Race Bramble. Great atmosphere, great energy. It was actually really packed and we had to wait to get some chairs. The staff were really friendly and helpful, except for one. Amy, a bartender, was rude, abrasive, and lacked basic customer service skills. She actually walked away from me as I was paying to "send a nasty text" to one of her co-workers. I was left standing there with the tablet in my hands, while she walked around the corner to scold someone who actually treated me very well and was very kind. I spent $75 there yesterday, and the evening was really fun, but my encounter with Amy left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I will return to Blue Bee, but I would sooner wait in a long line to wait for another bartender than to walk right up to the bar to be "served" by Amy. read more

I've been a fan of Blue Bee since a friend brought some for me to try and am very happy they're available at Glen's Garden Market in DC. I was excited to try all their available ciders on site. The indoor space is small though they have a bunch of tables outside in the parking lot with tons of dogs hanging out! I did the $8 for 1 oz pours of each of their 6 available ciders - it was a little confusing because that's the tasting, which they normally don't do on weekends, but apparently they'll still serve you the ciders, they just don't talk you through it, which was fine by me. Picked up my favorite, the Aragon, some of the Mill Race - you can really taste the cranberry!, and a bottle of the Charred Ordinary, which is very tart. Strangely, the 750ML bottles aren't a better deal per ML than the 500ML bottles, so I just went with multiples of the 500. Better to enjoy in moderation anyways, right? read more

Way too expensive for cider. $3/ ounce for cider?! That's comparable to a shot of liquor... Would you pay $36 for a 12 ounce beer?!?!?

I live a few blocks away from here and have been twice. The cider is great, the staff is super friendly and everything is very affordable - I just they had more seating outside :( Despite the seating...do yourself a favor and check them out - great place! read more

I don't understand the rave reviews. Maybe we went on a strange day, but we were charged $15 each for a flight of ciders - 4 small tastings. Seriously? $15? The ciders were just okay. No atmosphere to speak of. Went next door to Legend and got three times the amount in our flight and it was only $10. I won't be returning or recommending this place. read more

We loved the tour of the cidery; it was extremely informative and cool. The history and mission of the company is great but the cider is even better. They have sour, sweet, brandy inspired and more. Plus the Cider Club is a great deal. We love this place and recommend to everyone. read more

I went there on Sunday for the grand opening this weekend. The two varieties if cider they were pouring were delicious. Wanted to buy a large bottle of the Arragon 1904 but they were all out... You know it's delicious then. The owners were wonderful as well. It was a father/ daughter there and the gentlemen provided tours while we sipped on the cider. Though I understand that the folks at Blue Bee apprenticed at Albenarle Coderworks, I prefer the RVA kind. read more

They only have one cider that they're currently offering, but by the end of the summer, there should be two more bottled. The tasting room is very nice and the employees knowledgeable and friendly. The owner's father gives a very good tour. The cider is very reasonable priced. Definitely worth a visit! They're right next to Legend Brewing Company. read more

This place seems to be open all weekend, and thus is a perfect cap-off to any excursion in the Richmond area. We love going here to see a great view of the Richmond skyline and pick up a few bottles of cider. While the price is a little on the high side compared to other brands, it is well worth the taste. In addition, I cannot tell you how many bottles I have given as gifts -- it always ends up going over extremely well, especially for couples where one half tends to be a wine drinker and the other a beer drinker. My favorite cider alternates with the season, so I always appreciate the flight option, which gives me a taste of everything. Cannot recommend this joint enough, especially for visiting family and friends. read more
